Zero Punctuation reviews fanboys
Apparently Yahtzee found the fanboy uproar over his Super Smash Bros. Brawl review so irritating that this week's Zero Punctuation is dedicated to reviewing the unpaid console defenders out there. Yahtzee finds his rage again this week and lashes out in a way that many professionals who make their living off the internet wish they could. Not us, of course, we're too heavily medicated and just allow the sea of hate to wash over us in waves of brilliant pinks and purples. Numbness is the first step to professional happiness on the internetz.

Tell that to the fanboi's... Although not like they'd listen anyways.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 7th 2008 10:08PM
This was absolutely brilliant. Nintendo fanboys begged him to review brawl knowing that he's not a big fan of it, and then ran to their houses with earmuffs on to grab their pitchforks and crucify him cause he criticized big daddy N.
This video was pure internet gold, kudos yahtzee.
John McPoop @ May 7th 2008 10:26PM
agreed ...
Let me tell you this tmacairjordan
The amount of hate you get for giving your opinion just validates what Yatzee said about the Brawl players and all idiot fanboys in general ... deep down inside they know what's being said is true otherwise it wouldn't bother them so much and they wouldn't make it their personal crusade to defend it 24/7 ... They know who they are
Markez (MKWii 4339-2878-5120) @ May 7th 2008 10:51PM
"all idiot fanboys in general" agreed. It'd be comical to see him do rants on fanboys for each console. Would be more entertaining than those 3 videos which did countdowns of about 100 items for each console about how it sucked. Those were mediocre.
I guess he wouldn't be really reviewing games then, but hakuna matata.
brandon_r87 @ May 8th 2008 1:45AM
Agreed on awesomeness. I like Brawl, but people just need to let go of their opinions long enough to see he does have valid criticisms of the game. They might not bother you as much, but you can at least have a good laugh about them. Look at GTA IV, it has strange problems, like if you call for police backup, they are sometimes there immediately, along with other non-game ruining glitches and strange things. But you can still enjoy it and realize it's a great game. Those glitches actually become a little bit funny.
Ranus Studios @ May 7th 2008 10:10PM
I was pleased to see that he corrected their spelling and grammar, as well.
finnith @ May 7th 2008 11:06PM
Isn't that ironic?
Neowyrm @ May 7th 2008 11:37PM
No, it isn't. Go look up what "ironic" means.
Mal F4cti0n @ May 7th 2008 11:52PM
It's ironic because he pointed out how he liked that Yahtzee corrected the spelling and grammar, and then had a grammar mistake at the end of his sentence.
2. characterized by often poignant difference or incongruity between what is expected and what actually is; "madness, an ironic fate for such a clear thinker"; "it was ironical that the well-planned scheme failed so completely"
It was ironical that the poster commenting how he enjoyed others being made fun of for bad grammar had bad grammar himself.
Neowyrm @ May 7th 2008 11:57PM
Ah. Okay. I thought that he was using the 'stupid' definition of ironic, a situation wherein he would think it was ironic that a critic of video games also criticizes grammar.
Ranus Studios @ May 8th 2008 12:01AM
I am also pleased to see that my subtle comedy was not lost.

danny. @ May 8th 2008 10:12AM
Is it also ironic that a guy who calls himself zero punctuation focused on punctuation and inserted several periods, commas, and even a semicolon into his video?
Josh @ May 7th 2008 10:10PM
How come he didn't correct the word "contols" in the first hate mail?
Ace b @ May 8th 2008 1:37AM
Glad I wasn't the only one to catch that.
We should send him an e-mail about it or make our own video regarding the fact that if you are going to correct people's grammar, you better make sure you double check it for mistakes or you'll look more like a douche for attempting to correct it than just leaving it be.
or something.
ApolloIV @ May 7th 2008 10:10PM
Loved it, simply brilliant.
markhill66 @ May 7th 2008 10:14PM
Whether you agree with him or not, you have to admit that he is a really funny guy.

EHhehhEHEHHEHEHehehehEHhehe
I'm generally not huge on Yahtzee, but this was priceless. Especially that bit when he gives the game a 4
Found it comical he made a crack at the Dreamcast sucking, being that you consistently see people come out of the woodwork on here saying how great it is.
mr nimblewick @ May 8th 2008 12:25AM
Suck my phantasy star online!
FOXHOUND @ May 8th 2008 10:31AM
But the Dreamcast was a pretty fun, hack-ready console system... but obviously NOT without its significant faults, like any other out there. Namely that damned controller, the weak battery backup, and the disc-reading noise. It was hilarious in SKIES OF ARCADIA(great game), because you could literally "hear" a random encounter loading.
Hell, sometimes I wonder if it was trying to compete with a 56k modem's demonic screetching when signing online.
...now if I could just find TECH ROMANCER and a replacement for my no-longer-working copy of SWORD OF THE BERSERK, I'd be happy with all of my DC purchases to date.
John McPoop @ May 7th 2008 10:23PM
The descriptions he gave on all three consoles at the end was so true ... I agree 100% and it surmised it perfectly
Ace b @ May 8th 2008 1:25AM
Especially describing the 360.That was pretty damn accurate.
No,I'm not a fan boy.I actually own a 360.
...Of course I never paid for it either......
Amirisme @ May 8th 2008 5:50AM

Yahtzee to Fernando: "You make my life worse"

Fernando to Yahtzee: "I'd answer back but SDF will just downvote me to hell for no reason, so why bother?"

Fernando is too busy playing Mario Kart Wii. You know, the game he was anticipating even more than SSBB.

I'm a Nintedo fanboy, I think Brawl is awesome, and I think this review was awesome.

"White enough" to own all three consoles? What the fuck does that even mean?
Markez (MKWii 4339-2878-5120) @ May 7th 2008 11:06PM
I understand it's offensive. But everyone of his reviews has been, from start to finish, in all sorts of ways. And now you're offended?
ScottyGEE32 @ May 7th 2008 11:14PM
Its alright when he insults things like nerds, sexuality, xenophobes (more than one occasion), but when he talks about being white enough to do something STOP THE PRESSES!
Will @ May 7th 2008 11:25PM
Actually I was pretty surprised too that he threw in a racist comment.
LameDuck @ May 8th 2008 12:01AM
America is so PC, we're the only ones that get butthurt when someone makes a racist remark. Forget that if you tune to say... BET... there is loads more racist remarks made about the Majority of American than you will find about the minority on mainstream channels.
Thats just my two cents though.
Arttemis @ May 8th 2008 12:57AM
Apparently no one can see the direct relationship of playing more video games to losing one's tan?
Considering his self-deprecating style of humor, calling his skin excessively "white" didn't seem at all racist to me... and that he doesn't go out much.
Mighty Ponygirl @ May 8th 2008 8:29AM
Re: "White enough."
To point out the basic economic inequalities inherent in a racist social structure, even in a wry, sarcastic tone, is not racist. Far from it, in fact. Yahtzee has proven in several of his reviews that he is sensitive to racial issues. His point (and I can't believe I have to explain this) is that being able to own all three consoles is a matter of privilege, and that often economic privilege goes hand-in-hand with skin color.
It's a bit of a false dichotomy, to quote /Bullworth/, a white man has more in common with a black man than he does with a rich man. Or even shorter, there are plenty of poor whites, but not a lot of rich blacks.
GRANTED @ May 8th 2008 9:01AM
OR, to quote /Lupe Fiasco/, "Now the poor ku klux man see that we're all brothers not cause things are the same but cause we lack the same colors, and that's green, now that's mean, he can't burn his cross cause he cant afford the gasoline"
Mutant @ May 8th 2008 11:30AM
The "white enough" comment kind of threw me. Yahtzee makes all kinds of inappropriate comments and even racist slurs but its usually clear he is mocking racism. This one didn't come off that way. I feel there's something funny trying get out but its not funny enough to overshadow the wrongness of the statement.
I don't see this as a racist statement but as a failed commentary on racism. I give Yahtzee the benefit of the doubt on this one.
The rest of it was brilliant so, no worries mate.
Ethan @ May 8th 2008 11:56AM
He's playing off the stereotype. Does it support the idea that it's true? No. He's being sarcastic. See Randy Jackson for people who actually uphold stereotypes.
vidGuy @ May 7th 2008 10:58PM
10 for effort but Yahtzee still comes across as a whiny-ass fanboy himself. Did I mistake his words or did he say he is "WHITE" enough to afford all three consoles at 4:02? Ouch.
