Crysis composer Inon Zur scoring Fallout 3
No matter what platform we choose to take on Fallout 3's radioactive wasteland, we will be doing so to the musical styling of seasoned game music composer Inon Zur. If Zur's name isn't familiar to you, it's likely you've hummed along to some of his more notable tracks heard in games like Crysis as well as each of the three expansions to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. And speaking of three, a trio of the songs Zur created for Bethesda's hotly anticipated RPG are available to listen to on the official Fallout 3 website, from in-game tracks "Megaton" and "Into the Wasteland," to a bass-heavy title track that has us climbing the walls in our underground shelter in the march up to the game's release this fall.

Those three tracks were gawd awful. Don't waste your time listening to them. Waste of time.

I love the Mortal Kombat 2 reference.

LMAO, I havent played any MK this century, but I can still hear Dan Forden's high pitched voice when I see that pic

Actually, it's a bit of a stretch. It's a Dan Forden/MK thing, so it should only be used in that context.

Damn... I was really really hoping for Jeremy Soule. It'll be a great game but this takes it down a notch imo.

Jeremy Soule is a phenomenal composer.
Neptune @ May 8th 2008 9:29AM
Way waaaaay too heroic/atmospheric imo. The second track is most suited of the three but I still would prefer just ambient sounds.

Fallout 3 will be the best game in the history of man!!!
ok, maybe just game of the month, but I am REALLY looking forward to it.

I don't mind the tracks. If they are at a low volume in the background, then these would do just fine.

I actually cringed when I saw that it was the same guy that did the Crysis soundtrack, but listening to these samples, it sounds pretty good.
The melody in the main title gives me a bit of a "wild west" kind of feel to it, with a good level of foreboding doomy sounds.
This actually makes me look forward to the game even more. The blend of good synth sounds and acoustics, in the track Megaton, kind of touches on a theme that seems really cool to me. Sparse harmonica and twangy slide guitar, little banjo kind of sounds.
What else would you expect from a game about a post-apocalyptic society? To me, the best score would be something like the amazing Bladerunner soundtrack mixed with classics like Ennio Morricone (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly). Thats just my opinion tho. :)

Wonderful composer for a game I expect to be top of the line. Good choice by Bethesda. Those tracts are very nice and befitting of a Fallout game.

The tracks aren't bad in themselves. Just not, in my opinion, suited to the game. I agree with Neptune about the ambient sounds idea and I was personally hoping for something more like the 'There Will Be Blood' soundtrack; disjointed and dissonant instead of heroic and slightly 90s military movie.
Still, only three tracks from what will probably be loads. Can't really judge yet. It's gonna be a killer game either way.
