So we're sure you all remember our love for Portal: The Flash Version in which We Create Stuff took all the fun of Portal and bludgeoned it with a digital hammer until it could fit into two dimensions. Now, like in some sort of Tom and Jerry cartoon, We Create Stuff's Hen Mazolski has inserted a bike pump into the flattened game's mouth and re-inflated it to 3D, with all of the Flash versions' levels intact.
This is no mere rehash of the Flash game, though that, in and of itself, would have been impressive. At around 3 1/2 hours, this is a complete experience, with GLaDOS' urgings and taunting remixed to provide an alternate take on the Enrichment Center experience. If you're a fan of Portal, you really shouldn't miss it.

You are aware that VALVe are one of the most supportive developers when it comes to modification, aren't you?

Still, what amounts to a free flash version of their game? Even Valve has to have their limits.

Exactly.. F.R.E.E. Free.
They didn't make any money of it, it is ok.
And with this you're basically saying that Valve will sue because someone modified their game to add levels, which is what people are meant to be doing?
I must be missing something in your logic because to me, you have none.

I highly doubt the flash version of Portal would stop anyone from buying the real game. They're both fun, but they're not the same by any means.
This, on the other hand, is pretty sweet for those who own Portal and need more. I wonder if it does actually require you to own HL2, though, like it says on the site.

RogueJedi86, you're pretty naive to suspect VALVe would sue over something like this. If anything, it encourages people to get the game if they haven't already and enjoyed the Flash version.

Valve supplies the tools and resources to make your own Portal levels. It's the SDK and it's been around for ages (that's how Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat came about). They wouldn't sue them, if anything Valve would probably hire them.

Logic bomb: YOU HAVE TO OWN PORTAL AND HALF LIFE 2 TO RUN THIS. This is not a free version of their game because you need to have already paid for the real one.
The flash version was a fun diversion but it wasn't the real thing, and was intriguing enough to basically serve as a free advert for the actual game.

Well damn, that is probably one of the best fan-made maps that I've ever seen. It gives a real sense of a "Before" and the ending was very cool as well :-D Amazing work!

Doesn't this require: Steam with Half-Life 2 and Portal installed in order to play ?
I don't have that, so I'm SOL?

As far as the Half-Life 2 requirement, I believe that you can actually get by without it - just Portal should work fine. I understand that they used a couple assets from Half-Life 2, including a vehicle in one room, and that these are included in the map pack itself but, to be sure they are covered on the legal side, they ask that you own that game as well. It will install and play without it, however, and I honestly don't see why Valve would care that a vehicle or a couple items are being taken from their other game.

Boy, I sure wish I didn't have a beast of a Mac that came out right before the Intels. That way, I would probably have a way to play this.
