yeah well some games are really noisy like cod. i wish i could freakin turn on my console without waking up my gf. if they made an xbox slim wow id be all over that.

but soon i think the xbox is gonna bottleneck itself and gonna need a ps3 soon. definitly gonna buy the slimmed down ps3 too.

dammit i JUST bought an elite for GTA4. i was trying to hold out long enough for this revision in the hopes that it would be much more quiet, but my lust to play GTA with my buddies was too great.

unless there's a LOT of sound happening in the game, i can always hear my 360 spinning and it annoys the heck out of me -- and i crank my surround sound up when i play. this revision was way overdue.

Falcon Systems with the BenQ are a mojor improvement over my launch unit.

It'd be nice if the system was quieter, sure, but it doesn't bother me that much. I don't know why everyone makes such a big deal out of this issue. I'd much rather spend my time bitching about the memory cap on Live Arcade games or DRM issues or somesuch. Or could, you know, just STFU and enjoy playing my games. Yeah, I'll just do that...

I thought it was the DVD drive that made all that gargantuan noise?

The last report of this type, a week ago, said the 360 would get Blue-Ray.

I don't know why they bother to dump more money into the system when they should be working on the next Xbox.

With the failure rate at nearly 33% people are STILL buying 360's and continue to defend it on every front. If people have been that loyal to a POS then I say if IS broke and you don't fix it, and people still love it, then don't fix it. Unless they plan on taking back every 360 they've sold in exchange for the newer model then I say leave it well enough alone.

This news comes just as my Xbox 360 is returningto me tommorrow form repairs. I could give a damn about the loud noise...because my media center PC makes a louder noise than the Xbox 360. Even if the PC is off, the noise still doesn't bother me.

Maybe if you focus more on enjoying the games than worrying about your system being loud, it wouldn't be a big deal as you people are making it out to be.

And since this system wasn't mentioned...my recently purchased Wii makes a little noise too. But does that effect my gameplay experince...no.

It's been said, but I'll just second it. The 360 is loud because of its optical drive, not its fans.

Dude.. I would totally REBUY my 360 if this new model is as quiet as the PS3. Seriously.. its my biggest gripe about the 360. Its so loud I can hear it through a closed glass cabinet.

The 360s disk drive noise isnt that loud. I only hear it when its when the disc is first started and at loading screens(and I usually play at medium to low volume settings).
Seriously, It seems that you guys will always find a reason to hate a microsoft product. The first xbox was quiet, it had very low failure rates(espically when compared to the ps2s nearly 50% mortality rate), and had hands down the best looking games. But sony fans bashed it for being big and boxy. They would say things like, "I would buy an xbox, but it's so big that it would be an eyesore in my entertainment center." Now the ps3 is larger than the original xbox and looks like a George Foreman grill but it's "sexy"? wtf?

If you dont like the 360, just dont fucking like the console. It's your opinion and your entitled to it. You dont have to come up with reasons to hate the 360 and you dont have to post them every time you see 360 news. Im sorry about the rant, but having to read people say they hate the 360 because it has very similar issues to the ps2 and turn arond and praise the ps3 for the same reasons they perviously hated the xbox is getting old.

some 360's are louder then others.. so don't claim that it's no big deal. It is for the people who have the loud ones.

I'm a bit happy that I waited. I remember I was really impatient to get TF2 on friday alone about a couple weeks ago. Then, the next day I see that they lowered the price 10 dollars. I then cried and taped 10 dollars to the wall, now thinking if I added that 10 to the 30, I would've had the Orange Box instead of one game.
