French site Jeuxvideo.fr states that PSP games Daxter and Wipeout Pulse are being ported to the PS2. The story seems probable considering how many PSP to PS2 ports there have been, but at this time it's an unconfirmed rumor.
Given the history of high-profile PSP games like R&C: Size Matters and the GTAs being ported to the the PS2, we have to wonder if GoW: Chains of Olympus and Secret Agent Clank will make the leap at some point; the Chains of Olympus port rumor is already old news.

Well, if more people get to play them, good. Just things to keep in mind, most PSP titles from Sony are VERY focused on a handheld so what is a good time for a platformer on PSP (Daxter's about 5, same with Chains) would be considered a disappointment on the console.

Hopefully they come out at a lower price to make up for the shorter amount of time.

wow.. makes a change from the initial PSP launch... when non of the games were good because they weren't handheld focussed at all.
Maybe thats why its taken off recently..

I had a PSP at launch and I beg to differ. From Lumines to Hot Shots, there were plenty of handheld focused games.

It should also be noted that, to this day, DS has still not released an equal to either DJ Max Portable or DJ Max Portable 2.

The PSP's new sloan should be: Why bother? All the good games will eventually be on the PS2!

When Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins, LocoRoco, and Patapon make the jump, your slogan will ring true. Until then, all these good PSP games that have been ported still play better in the palm of my hand than with a DualShock 2.
Daxter is pure platformer gold btw!

No its a very different kind of loco roco.
They call it playstation PORTABLE for a reason. Most of their games are essentially console playstation games on the go, and everyone already knows this. Just because you can get a cheap port, doesn't make the original any less awesome. Also the lack of dracula X and Maverick Hunter X on the ps2 are very strong selling points to me.

LocoRoco Correchio is on PS3. It's significantly different.
anyway. They should port to the psn with these titles. Bump up the resolution like gripshift or Wipeout HD.

Here's my bitch...
Elaborate or "on the go" extensions of console games and their genres were, in fact, just fine and dandy for the entire of Gameboy's tenure including GBA. This was never a complaint before, until Sony did it. NOW it's suddenly it's worthless and sucks.
And if you think I'm wrong with this, step back, think of your favorite Gameboy or GBA games. Look at the top rated ones. Holy crap, this whole console things on the go WAS a good idea.

With the exception of NSMB, Metroid: Fusion and maybe a couple of others, the GB's versions of our favorite franchises sucked, for the most part. Unfortunately, with the exception of GoW and a couple of others, the same holds true for the PSP (just so you know, the DS by no means gets a free pass on this either.)

PSP games suck? Maybe you're playing the wrong ones. Daxter, R&C: Size matters, Jeanne D'Arc, FF7: Crisis Core, GoW: Chains of Olympus, Final Fantasy Tactics, Wipeout Pure & Pulse, Lumines, Patapon, Echochrome, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, Tekken: DR, GTA Liberty City & Vice City, MGS Portable Ops, Siphon Filter, Hot Shots Golf...
All of these games have pretty much the same quality you'd see on a full PS2 title... which is why the good ones get ported over.

About time. I've been wanting to play the 2 PSP Wipeouts badly, but there's no way I'm spending that much on a system for 2 games. PORT THEM ALREADY!!!

Yeah, wipeout pulse on the PS2 would be great. I've been itching to play, but can't bring myself to buy a psp just for that as well. If only wipeout HD would appear already...

Pulse is sweet... the game looks and plays fantastic. Kinda hard for this Wipeout newbie, but I'm sure I just need to practice more... now that I've finished Crisis Core (which totally blew my mind, btw, and I'm not even a FF fanboy), maybe I'll be able to pop Pulse back in again.

Nate, is it just me or was SquareEnix exceptionally cruel basically forcing the player to play Zack's death? Last 20 minutes of that game was just not only pulling the old heartstrings, but stretching em across a guitar body and proceeding to jam out Blitzkrieg Bop...
I mean, I played sad games before but CC just seemed to relish in their cruelty there.

Yeah, totally. Geezus. I mean, the fact that it was so emotional goes to show what a good job they did, but man, yeah, it was rough.

I agree. I wish they'd stop producing PS2 games. It's not like there aren't already hundreds of good games for the system. let people play those, or buy a new system. 8 years is a good run. Let it go.

Jackson has a point. It's not like the PS2 is Sony's main focus. Not by a longshot. However, the more support they throw and the more they push it as a casual machine (Buzz, Singstar), the more Sony loyalist there will be. After all, when those consumers finally do upgrade and they have the choice of Wii, 360, or PS3, do you really think the fact that PS2 software is STILL being made right now won't make them look at PS3 more favorably? Nintendo and Microsoft have both built reputations of basically pulling up stakes and saying "Well, this is our new shit now, you gotta buy it or we won't support you." Playstation, meanwhile, is building a reputation of offering massive support to all their consoles and encouraging third parties to do the same.

I think the loyalty to the PS2 will pay off for Sony at the end of this generation and as the next one begins. I think a large percentage of the people still buying PS2s will be the same people buying PS3s when it's cheaper at the end of this generation. Should help to give the PS3 long legs just as the PS2 has shown to have long legs.

Poor PSP. They get popular titles, nice little incentives to buy the system. Or you could just wait and get them half their PSP price for the PS2.
Tough choice. Pause. NOT.

Sup troll. Only one critical difference, one is portable, the other is not portable. So if you wanted to play the PS2 version of, say, Wipeout Pure on the train, you would need at least a car battery, a ps2 strapped to your back and a lcd mounted to your special helmet.
Let me know if I can clear anything else up for you. I know you are a little slow.

The rumors say that many of PSP users don't want Daxter to be for PS2!
I get that those PSP users want "Daxter" to be "PSP only" game. But think this PSp has many things PS2 will never have like Pictures, Video, Internet be portable. Plus there is some games that let PSP version games to have cool stuff uploaded from PS2 to PSP that PS2 user don't get like for "Crash Bandicoot Tag team racing" When you connet both PS2 and PSP the PSP version will get aditional cars, costumes and race tracks.
Bottom line is PSP is like everything PS2 will never get and only thing they want from PSP is few games!
