EA purchases Napster creator's social networking site
Shawn Fanning has been doing more than simply riding high on the Napster phenomenon and appearing in Volkswagon commercials. In 2006, he created a new social networking site called Rupture, which shares game achievements from Halo 3, WoW, Madden 08 and other games with your friends. Now, EA is purchasing Rupture in a $30 million deal, making Fanning a happy, happy man (again).
Electronic Arts will be most likely utilizing the technology behind Rupture -- which never left its closed beta phase -- to improve its own online multiplayer experiences. As for Fanning, this is his first truly successful venture, following the bankruptcy of Napster, and the modest sub-5mil acquisition of SnoCap, the young entrepreneur's second company.

I think it's pretty interesting how someone can create a file sharing program that allows millions of people to download music then get sued by the RIAA out of house and home and still go on without a hitch. major props.

I'm pretty sure he never handed over a single penny to the RIAA. It was all software he handed over, and I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he gets revenue from the legal Napster.
If that's what you call being sued out of house and home sign me up for a spot on the corner of the street any day of the week.

it's confusing, read it again. I said the people using the program were getting sued out of house and home. Not the creator. You've never heard of RIAA suing the users for 10,000XX dollars?

Well, your paragraph makes it sound as if the creator and not the millions of people were being sued, which I and Anthony intially thought you were referrin to the creator.
