Did somebody say instruments? Actually, no, no they didn't. Still, it's hard to imagine what else could be in store for Guitar Hero. According to Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith, the series is set to make a "significant leap forward in innovation." The information was revealed in a conference call yesterday, and while no more details were given, Griffith did note that more info would be released "in the coming weeks." Honestly though, what would it be other than more instruments? Maybe you can also tilt the guitar down now? Real strings instead of buttons? Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments as we wait for the official answer.

How about more content? I mean come on, I don't remember the last decent track pack I downloaded (actually I do, it was "No Doubt". Enough said.). I want "Paradise City" by Guns & Roses. Get that song on for me and I'll be oh so happy.

And by "making a significant leap" they mean "catching up to the competition", right? The biggest leap they can make is making their downloadable songs significantly cheaper, but we all know that is not going to happen.
I was done with guitar hero from the second they announced their first DLC. I'm a Rock Band faithful now.

Exactly! How can it be "innovation" when it's just copying the competitor?

Peraphs they're adding a sixth button and putting it in in medium, making Easy use the old five and go at GH3's medium pace, Medium will now be at hard's from GH3, hard will be the old Expert and expert will be harder than through the fire and flames on GH3 expert at double speed but not spacing out the notes. Yeah....I'm not holding a grudge about the diffculty spikes on GH3 especially later on.

Its a component that attaches to a real guitar giving the player the ability to both play guitar hero and the really play the guitar.

They will add a microphone. That still gives them room room to make a "significant leap forward in innovation" in 2009 by adding drums.

I dont want crappy over-priced Instruments!!! Thats what Rock Band is for, the name of the game is still Guitar Hero, and should stay ONLY guitar based.

I don't know why they don't use an open note .... make it black in the game - there you go - you got your 6th button..
