Guess I'll be the first to bite and say "those songs suck"
Eric @ May 9th 2008 4:36PM
You suck these songs are great.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 9th 2008 4:37PM
No you suck these songs blow. Opinions are awesome!
Vegnagun bwf @ May 9th 2008 4:42PM
Blondie and the Clash are overrated and Sonic Youth is one of the worst bands ever conceived.
Ghen @ May 9th 2008 5:14PM
Kool Thing is in EVERYONE'S top 3 worst songs of GH3, why they would release it on Rock Band I will never know.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 9th 2008 5:16PM
I agree completely ghen. I thought that video sounded familiar now I remember it was in GH3. To say I hate that song just cannot do my hate justice. It's one of the worst songs I've ever heard although that pornographers song or w/e they're called in Rock Band is almost as bad.
Cesaria (MKW:2621-2994-1376) @ May 9th 2008 5:21PM
Wow, no love for Sonic Youth, New Pornographers, OR the Clash. Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation is one of the most incredible albums of all time, as is most of their work (eh on New York Ghosts and Flowers.) And ANYTHING by the New Pornographers and The Clash is equally as amazing. What kind of music do you listen to? Just curious.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 9th 2008 5:27PM
Well besides old school rap I like a lot of rock, but rock that takes talent to make on nearly every instrument not ones that are simplistic pop sounding cash ins. Big fan of 80s thrash (metallica, megadeth, testament, anthrax etc) but I like some 70s rock too like Boston and a little Kiss and even some cheesy 80s hair metal like motley crue and skid row.
Jody Anthony (cookingrebels.com) @ May 9th 2008 6:00PM
the clash had a hell of a lot of skill and talent on their side. so many of their songs are incredible.
Cesaria (MKW:2621-2994-1376) @ May 9th 2008 7:01PM
"but rock that takes talent to make on nearly every instrument"
The Cure is the very embodiment of that statement. As is Radiohead.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 9th 2008 7:06PM
Radiohead doesn't have any talent. It doesn't take talent to play simplistic rhthyms and sing like you're dying.
Cesaria (MKW:2621-2994-1376) @ May 9th 2008 7:23PM
My dear god, tmac. Almost every one of their albums is fucking incredible. Your reply is epic fail. Listen to "Paranoid Android" by Radiohead, and tell me that he 'sings like he's dying' or that there isn't any talent to that. They are the most influential band of this generation and have reinvented themselves with every album. Hey! I've even provided a link! http://youtube.com/watch?v=szdWPWnnNls
Cesaria (MKW:2621-2994-1376) @ May 9th 2008 7:25PM
Also, the fact that you mentioned Motley Crue and Kiss refutes any credibility you have. Peace.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 9th 2008 7:30PM
Being "the most influential" band of this generation means nothing since the 2000s is arguably the worst decade in rock history. And yeah that song is fucking depressing like every other radiohead song I've heard. The guy makes kurt cobain seem happy.
Dirk Dorkelson @ May 9th 2008 7:41PM
Wow, this is the best week of DLC yet. I'm almost as excited for this as I am for the Pixies and the Cars albums. I guess there's no accounting for taste. Maybe they'll get your Raffi songs up next week.
Cesaria (MKW:2621-2994-1376) @ May 9th 2008 7:55PM
They started in the 90's and have still survived and continue to innovate to this day.
samfish @ May 9th 2008 11:09PM
I vote we rename the Rock Band Weekly posts to "Opinions Are Like Assholes:"
So,
Opinions Are Like Assholes: Sonic Youth, The Clash and Blondie.
BlaqueBeird @ May 10th 2008 12:31AM
Or, samfish, it could be "Assholes have strong opinions".
Ooh, or maybe a metaphor about the relationship of opinions and gas, but still usingassholes. Where's my pen?
ronald.raygun @ May 10th 2008 2:11AM
tmac you're a retard, the clash is known as the only band that matters for a reason, your list has mediocre bands at best, yes i know its an opinion but my opinion is better than yours...
on another note i really wish we could get something different from the clash other than "train in vain" or "stay or go". give me "straight to hell" or "death or glory" or "clampdown" or "spanish bombs" or "clash city rockers"
oh and sonic youth's "diamond sea" would be great.
Hodgepodge @ May 10th 2008 4:33AM
Psst, guys, this guy is a painfully obvious troll. Imagine that this guy had said "mario is just for kidz lol, get 360 for haloooo." Obvious trolling, right? This guy just did the music equivalent of exactly that. That's all. People can troll music threads too.
eRk @ May 16th 2008 12:48PM
crap!! they're all CRAP!
Jody Anthony (cookingrebels.com) @ May 9th 2008 4:04PM
Train in Vain is one of the best songs ever.
for the first time since that ramones pack, I wish I had rock band.
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ May 9th 2008 4:10PM
Train in Vain is in fact, confirmed awesome.
Give us some Aztec Camera, Rock Band! Or better yet, give us "Good Morning Britain" and a bunch of Big Audio Dynamite songs.
ConanL @ May 10th 2008 3:36PM
Train in Vain is a fantastic song froma fantastic band. There aren't many bands that can match the range of genres they can. Particularly in the London Calling and self titled debut album.
Daniel @ May 9th 2008 4:06PM
Awesome. More Clash. We can never have too much of the Clash.
I'll probably get the Blondie track, too. On the fence about this Sonic Youth thing, though.
J @ May 9th 2008 4:05PM
Chuck D is on Kool Thing, though... at least the original version. This may be the closest you get to Public Enemy content, unless they go w/ Anthrax's version of "Bring the Noise".
XanthouS @ May 9th 2008 4:09PM
I'll be skipping this week, but I know there are a lot of Clash fans out there, and more female tracks is a good thing too.
DLow28 @ May 9th 2008 4:09PM
Train in Vain! Greattttt song!
Youthinized @ May 9th 2008 4:11PM
The Clash ftw!
Ixistant @ May 9th 2008 4:14PM
Wooooooooh! Go Blondie!
Pity Rock Band will retail for £souls :(
Ronshatmycarl @ May 9th 2008 4:15PM
Man, Rock Band DlC really seems to be in a dive right now. Please send us something good.
Youthinized @ May 9th 2008 4:22PM
I know it does seem like that doesn't it?
I think they're just trying to release solid songs, just not OMFG songs, because of GTAIV. Let a couple weeks go by and it'll be great again. The Cars comes out soon. That'll be sweet!
jsn @ May 9th 2008 4:51PM
it's called variety people. There's a reason why the candy isle at the convenience store doesn't just sell the top 5 candies that they THINK people want.
Dirk Dorkelson @ May 9th 2008 7:46PM
One man's trash is another's treasure, I guess. I've been waiting for a Sonic Youth track to show up since the game came out. And more Blondie is nice, too.
Ronshatmycarl @ May 10th 2008 11:17AM
@jsn THanks for the in depth analysis of candy bar economics, but it still doesn't change the fact that I don't think these songs are any good.
Like the guys on the HOtspot said, I feel like Harmonix is that old dude at the record store telling me what I should be into, no matter how many times I tell them no.
Britton @ May 9th 2008 4:19PM
Yummy. I'll be getting all of 'em.
Kizzle @ May 9th 2008 4:21PM
Goddammit, NOTHING is going to seem exciting now that the news about the upcoming Testament songs was leaked.
More fucking metal. They haven't released a goddamn thing since that "At the Gates with two other, shittier bands" thrash pack.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 9th 2008 4:26PM
When was this news leaked? Please tell me it's their good thrash stuff and not their later death metal garbage.
Martez @ May 9th 2008 4:23PM
I still want a big Bang Camaro DLC pack. WTF.
ScottG13 @ May 9th 2008 4:23PM
Nothing particularly offensive here. Some decent tunes and female vocal songs are always in high demand for our parties.
Not a home run like Oasis, but not as horrid as Judas Priest, either.
el serpiente @ May 9th 2008 4:34PM
The Clash shits out Oasis after a long night of boozing.
ScottG13 @ May 9th 2008 4:51PM
I'm sure they do, but that doesn't mean Oasis isn't some of the most popular DLC at my Rock Band partays.
That's how I measure Rock Band DLC: Do my peeps want to play it?
Ben! @ May 9th 2008 4:32PM
I don't want to live in a world where people lament the lack of metal and then criticize these bands. Ridiculous. Blondie? Awesome. The Clash? Awesome. Sonic Youth? Awesome.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 9th 2008 4:35PM
Feel free to kill yourself then. You won't be missed.
Ghen @ May 9th 2008 5:19PM
Yep, sorry. more metal for me please. While I'd play these songs they just don't provide the challenge that metal does.
Ben! @ May 9th 2008 5:21PM
Go figure -- a metal fan who says I should kill myself for having different taste in music. Are you ABOUT TO BREAK!?!?
tmacairjordan87 @ May 9th 2008 5:28PM
You were the one who suggested it and criticized metal first, so don't bark at us about making fun of your tastes
ill trooper @ May 9th 2008 4:33PM
Great week for Rock Band. Not my favorite Clash song, but still excellent. I know other die-hard Clash fans are mad at 'Rock The Casbah' but it would be amazing in this game. I'd like to see Sonic Youth's 'Dirty Boots' make it on RB at some point.
Noel @ May 9th 2008 4:33PM
These songs are all fine, I'm going to wind up buying them all. but....
Except for Complete Control, the Clash track selections have been mediocre. Also, the Clash already have 3 other songs available on Rock Band, surely there's some room for other bands from that era/genre? What about the Sex Pistols? or the Jam? or the Damned? I'm not that particular, but I get tired of the same songs/groups being recycled over and over across the music game spectrum.
Justin @ May 9th 2008 4:41PM
Anyone who complains about Sonic Youth is a total geek. If anything, they should be one the bands releasing albums on DLC. This is the most must but a song released has been for me so far.
