Bring out the haters for this week's Rock Band Weekly update post. The songs are perfectly fine, but considering the amount of hate there is in any given week for really good tracks, we can only imagine what it'll be like for these songs. Come on, "Random Song Lover Defense Force," where are you?
"Hanging on the Telephone" - Blondie (160 MS Points / $2)
"Train in Vain" - The Clash (160 MS Points / $2)
"Kool Thing" - Sonic Youth (160 MS Points / $2)
Videos for next week's tracks are after the break for people to make informed decisions on whether they actually hate the songs. The DLC will be available next Tuesday and Thursday for Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively.
Alright, they finally released something off of London Calling, it's about time! Not the best song on the album, but since it's about one of the best albums ever, it's still a damn fine track. Thanks Harmonix, keep 'em coming.
...the only subject that turns everyone, absolutely everyone, into ridiculous, outspoken, closed-minded douchebags. Is there such a thing as a music fan who isn't actually a music fanboy?
I think not; and with that said, all of you are wrong about everything. I'm gonna go listen to old Dashboard Confessional songs while I cry about my middle school girlfriend.
I'm not sure if you were serious or not (I'm guessing not), but I for one would love to see a Dashboard song on Rock Band. I might be convinced to get it then. Until that time, I'm fine using my brothers' to play "In Bloom".
@ jefffffffff: Turn the "t" of 'but' into a "y". I guess you could put "must buy" in quotes, too, to make it super-simple. If one letter confused you to the point you need to post about it...
What does the Xbox Live subscription have to do with downloadable content? Xbox Live Gold is so you can play games online. You can download this stuff without paying anything for an Xbox Live membership. That's like saying, "I'm not giving Target my money anymore because Fisher Price's toys suck."
I was keeping my subscription active so I could (shockingly to you, obviously) play online with people. But I have lost interest in this game due to the lack of good, new songs, and thusly canceling my Xbox Live membership.
Is that plain enough English for you or should I go slower with less words with multiple syllables?
Hey, you seem like a really fun guy. Too bad you're canceling your gold membership. We could have had some great times. Sorry I missed that little nuance in your 13-word comment. Jeez.
Yes, because me unsubscribing would definitely send a message to Harmonix that I am not taking their shit anymore. Or, it is because some of us work for a living, and don't want to spend the excess 8 dollars a month on an increasingly useless service. Whatever scenario best works for you.
Yes, it seems that within months of his death Clash songs started showing up in commercials and games like this. I wonder if this would be the case if he was still alive.
Crazy people! This is the first week since December I'll be getting all three tracks.
Maybe this is crazy an' all, but when I play Rock Band I'm not looking for a "challenge"; I'm looking for fun. And blistering metal is pretty much anti-fun.
Im definitly gonna have to pick this one up, i think i crapped my pants when i saw the clash and sonic youth. the noise rock movement rocks. no i cant wait for the pixies.
Anyone who is looking for a challenge on Rock Band completely misses the point. Not to be presumptuous, but I bet 99% of metal-fiending RB players never pick up the microphone. Cause that would be a challenge. So would putting down the fake looking guitar, picking up a real guitar, and learning how to improvise a solo. that doesn't suck That should keep you challenged and occupied for, I don't know, a couple years or so.
Rock Band is for getting your pals together, getting sauced (or not, depending on your age or views on partying), and enjoying music.
Train in Vain is awesome. That song makes me happy. If it doesn't make you happy, I feel sorry for you.
Word to whoever said they measure DLC by fun. I've got a serious DLC addiction, and since I don't play on anything but Medium, I'm not likely to buy the ninth-guitar-level songs; therefore, I go for songs I know and can play on at least three instruments. Plus it helps if the songs pass the "wife test" whereby my wife (drummer in our household) deems them as fun for her, too.
All that said, I guess I'm not cool now, because these songs leave me very "meh." Would this be the wrong place to admit I'd like some good ol' crowd-pleasing Journey as DLC? Preferably "Don't Stop Believin'"?
Definitely picking up Train In Vain, you can never have to much Clash. One thing I don't understand though is why harmonix just doesn't make a Clash 6 pack? I mean they have released 3 separate Clash songs in the game already, why not just release a 6 pack? I'd definitely buy it. The Clash are possibly one of the greatest bands of all time.
