Facebreaker trailers: Meet the pugilists
The latest Facebraker profile (above) is of Steve, your typical fat nerd cliché. We've also placed the video for Romeo after the break. With a September release as part of EA Sports' new Freestyle brand, we're looking forward to getting some hands-on time with Facebreaker at E3. Hopefully the gameplay will enhance the fun and diminish the creepiness we feel in these trailers.

Don't speak, your jaw is about to fall off :O
bigsofty @ May 11th 2008 5:38AM
EA? Pitty I woulda bought it too...
Noshino @ May 10th 2008 5:37PM
mmm...Romeo has a spaniard accent AND he dances to salsa?...
I know Im being picky, but it would have been cool if they would have given him Spaniard accent and Flamenco or a Puerto Rican/Cuban accent and Salsa...
...but then again, Puerto Rican/Cuban accent doesn't really scream Romeo...lol
mundox @ May 10th 2008 7:14PM
The background music may be latino stuff but his moves are all flamenco-ish.
This game actually looks good :o coming from EA it's a surprise.
t_m @ May 11th 2008 9:23AM
spanish and mexican people are all the same anyway, aren't they?
See, I HAVE learned something from the media...
brad77 @ May 11th 2008 8:38PM
I was wondering the same. He's a Spaniard, and the background music is Ozomatli.
Trendy, but not consistent.
Captain_Hairy @ May 10th 2008 5:38PM
I suppose you could colour me interested. Looks pretty good.
brandon_r87 @ May 10th 2008 5:42PM
I'm not into sports games, but Dropkick Murphys made this video worth the watch.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ May 10th 2008 5:54PM
The characters are nice, I really like the fact that the nerdy ninja dude looks like a giant panda. :D
The character animations look fun too.
Waffle Slayer @ May 10th 2008 7:40PM
Hmm, I wonder what that is a spoof of?
Obie @ May 10th 2008 6:26PM
This reminds me: where the hell is Super Punch out for the Wii virtual console??
Cesaria (MKW:2621-2994-1376) @ May 10th 2008 10:36PM
I second this motion. I'm prepared to do unspeakable things for the release of this classic.
Nomi @ May 10th 2008 6:30PM
It seems like they are trying too hard...
Markez (MKWii 4339-2878-5120) @ May 10th 2008 7:10PM
Wha? I don't get it.
Sora267 @ May 10th 2008 9:02PM
Well it's obviously working, because they spew out quality CRAP when they DON'T try too hard. This game actually looks like it MIGHT be good.
rdj75 @ May 10th 2008 6:54PM
When I first heard about this title, I was thinking that it was going to be along the lines of Ready to Rumble, which to me was the shit back in the day. I am not feeling this to much right about now, but maybe its just me.
Jerk Face @ May 10th 2008 7:27PM
This game looks pretty fun, kids!
Rob Accomando @ May 10th 2008 8:55PM
pretty cool. But what's with the punch + launches into the air moves? They look a little excessive, imo
adeel arshad @ May 10th 2008 9:37PM
erm... doesnt anyone remember READY TO RUMBLE? this is a complete rip off/rehash of the franchise and that looked better even on the humble ps2!
AND it had a novel character: Micheal Jackson!

gore on the floor @ May 10th 2008 10:40PM
This wouldn't even be identifiable as a boxing game if they weren't wearing gloves. Pass.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 10th 2008 10:52PM
Ugh... so good to know EA is hunting down nerd references to pound into one of their characters. Amazing how they'd willingly attack the same people they expect to shell out $60 for this game.
Now all we need is some goth rock emo chick cliche. I mean, is EA seriously trolling facebook to get these character designs?
John McPoop @ May 10th 2008 11:22PM
I was more excited for this game until i saw this trailer ... The game looks retarded in my opinion ... I was expecting a fun boxing game ... Not this rubbish
Kizzle @ May 11th 2008 11:48AM
Agreed. I'm wondering why the hell people think this looks "fun." It looks fucking stupid. Punch-Out!! was fun because it had personality like this, but it was also simple enough to pick up and play. This game looks like a nightmare.
Attackosaur @ May 11th 2008 2:03AM
So Facebreaker is just a next-gen Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, then? Could be fun. Let's face it, looking like that it can't afford not to be.
That said, they lost me at "Dropkick Murphys". Ugh.
Kye - Joystiq Greybeard @ May 11th 2008 5:51AM
Movie starring Jack Black?
Also, Joystiq. The ads that take you away from this page;
Stop it.
Lord Bowser @ May 11th 2008 5:54AM
This looks good, really fun. I wish there was a DS or PSP version, though.
WiNG [Life in a Game] @ May 11th 2008 8:45AM
Ready 2 Rumble for Dreamcast already accomplished everything this game is going for, minus all the kicking.
Josh @ May 11th 2008 11:27AM
Looking forward to an EA product? I thought you were gamers.
Dick @ May 20th 2008 10:55AM
You little troll, keep it up.
LaughingTarget @ May 11th 2008 11:32AM
Can someone tell me if they were trying to be funny? I can't figure it out.
Esat Dedezade @ May 11th 2008 1:01PM
I bloody well hope they were!
RichChap @ May 13th 2008 11:44AM
It's like the tf2 meet the team videos.
