Urgh, the consoles are so, so staid. It's unbelievable. All the exciting action is taking place on the DS and PSP. The home consoles already feel like their best days are already behind them. It's a shame. A real shame.
TheHuntIsOn @ May 10th 2008 8:59AM
Almost. Brawl isn't out in PAL land yet.
Hashbrown Hunter @ May 10th 2008 9:08AM
Actually, have you seen the PSP's release calendar?
There is none.
Lord Bowser @ May 10th 2008 9:22AM
Hot Shots Golf, Echochrome, Lego Indiana Jones, Crisis Core Special Edition, Secret Agent Clank, Space Invaders Extreme, Skate Park City, Midnight Club.
PSP looks good, eh.
Maverick Saturn @ May 10th 2008 12:00PM
Crisis Core is the only thing I'm looking forward to in that list ¬_¬
Other then that, Monster Hunter 2G.
el serpiente @ May 10th 2008 12:08PM
So you go and shit all over Gears of War II, then you come in here and shit on basically the exact opposite of it.
I think you just like whining.
Lord Bowser @ May 10th 2008 12:41PM
El Serpiente, I wasn't talking about LBP, I just needed to vent from the neanderthals from the Gears thread. But it is true, aside from Brawl, MGS, and LBP, I really don't see anything interesting on the home consoles.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 10th 2008 5:52PM
So all that criticizing you did about gears 2 back there, but you like brawl which is just as repetitive and stale if not more so?
Lord Bowser @ May 10th 2008 9:05AM
You're right. Forgot all about Brawl.
Hurry up, June.
John McPoop @ May 10th 2008 11:32PM
Brawl Sucks ... Brawl and Mario Kart both feel dated IMO ... I am not trying to say the game sucks but rather it was not appealing to me ... Boom Blox is a fun little game but nothing thats going to blow you away ... I am very disappointed with the Wiis lineup released and unreleased ... I guess some people are excited for the Wii Fit periphial but I think it looks like a scam ... If the Kid Icarus rumors are true that could be something worth looking forward to for christmas or even Q1 2009 ... One of the few Nintendo franchises that hasn't been rehashed year after year ... How can you not be excited for Little Big Planet and Spore?
Lord Bowser @ May 11th 2008 5:49AM
Ok.
I respect your opinion, and I say, ok.
Ok.
Ok.
JakubK666 (Ninja Defence Force) @ May 10th 2008 9:55AM
Imho, LBP looks a lot more like a quality XBLA game(rare, indeed) than a stand-alone.Not trying to start a flamewar but I really don't think this will be such a "killer app" after all.
Let's just wait for MGS4.
Gavin @ May 10th 2008 10:32AM
Well, for what it is worth I have a 360 and this game is one of the only things that makes me want to get a PS3. For me it does seem to be a killer app.
Maverick Saturn @ May 10th 2008 11:59AM
Think quite a few people would disagree there Jakub.
JakubK666 (Ninja Defence Force) @ May 10th 2008 12:10PM
People will always disagree.I'm just saying.
LBP seems to have zero marketing and a lot of people have no idea about this game.I'm probably wrong anyway, but this game lacks the hype that a killer app should have.
Killzone,GoW,Halo,GTA4 and Bioshock for example.
PS: Then again if you think about all the MP and user-content, it might be quite good.
Noshino @ May 10th 2008 12:27PM
JakubK666
"LBP seems to have zero marketing"
you mean zero advertising right?
Anyway, why would you advertise a product that is still far from being released? they will, most likely, start pushing the ads within 2 months of release date, any time sooner is really pointless
JakubK666 (Ninja Defence Force) @ May 10th 2008 12:41PM
Yeah but hype is a part of marketing too.And so far I can't see much of it.
Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.
JakubK666 (Ninja Defence Force) @ May 10th 2008 12:47PM
Wooaw, I'm not trying to troll or start a flamewar, just giving a genuine opinion with some valid points yet I got downvoted within minutes.
Honestly, does giving any sort of negative opinion about anything(with the possible exception of bashing/insulting Fernando) always has to end like this?
HighFiveJesus @ May 10th 2008 1:03PM
i would say its building up quite a good amount of hype. It showed up at GCD (i think) in early 07 out of no where, from a unknown developer with an unknown game and blew everyone away and since then, it continues to captivate and grow interest. I haven't seen much critiscm either so it should be good.
Noshino @ May 10th 2008 1:31PM
"Honestly, does giving any sort of negative opinion about anything(with the possible exception of bashing/insulting Fernando) always has to end like this? "
err...when it is a NEUTRAL negative opinion it tends to be ok, but when you say something like...
"Imho, LBP looks a lot more like a quality XBLA game(rare, indeed) than a stand-alone."
...what are you expecting?
"I'm not trying to troll or start a flamewar, just giving a genuine opinion with some valid points "
There isnt a single valid point on your argument...
JakubK666 (Ninja Defence Force) @ May 10th 2008 1:42PM
There is no thing such a "neutrality" on Joystiq because the moment you criticize ie. Sony , you become "anti-sony".
I still think that LBP won't be such a "killer app" after all, but let's just not go there.
el serpiente @ May 10th 2008 6:44PM
Too late for that buddy. Your turd has been dropped.
John McPoop @ May 10th 2008 11:39PM
@Jakub
Never seen a XBLA game that allowed you to create anything your creativity allowed ... Little Big Planet and Spore are going to change the way we all think about video games ... The game is as good as the community makes it
CitizenGeek @ May 10th 2008 10:03AM
Nah, I think LBP will be a big success. It certainly looks a thousand times better than any XBLA game I've ever seen.
Maverick Saturn @ May 10th 2008 12:00PM
Thats because of Microsoft's stupid limitations ¬_¬
tmacairjordan87 @ May 10th 2008 12:23PM
That haze demo was mediocre at best. It was so boring I couldn't even finish it. I have a feeling if I play it it could dethrone halo 3 as the most boring FPS I've ever played...so I won't be playing it :P
el serpiente @ May 10th 2008 6:45PM
Yeah, wasn't crazy about haze demo either. If anything, they picked a really boring level for the demo. Let's hope the rest of the game is not like that...
John McPoop @ May 10th 2008 11:35PM
You know I liked the character models, nectar, gameplay mechanics but the level was very boring and we did not get an team death match in that demo ... I think its going to be a solid shooter but nothing that reinvents the wheel ... Certainly a better quality game than the likes of timeshift and black site ... I will rent it before I purchase it but I think it could be good
el serpiente @ May 11th 2008 1:39AM
They could take an old diaper, smear it on my TV, and that would be better than Area 51 or Timeshift...
Gun Barrier (=Gamer Tag) SSBB: 3952-6696-7009 @ May 10th 2008 1:09PM
so is this game like PS3's viva pinata and animal crossing?
Eggy @ May 10th 2008 5:40PM
Nice try, no win though.
Gun Barrier (=Gamer Tag) SSBB: 3952-6696-7009 @ May 10th 2008 5:42PM
it was just a question.
Simon @ May 10th 2008 6:09PM
Made me laugh :).
I get so caught up in the visuals of this game. I can't help but feel that this is how games SHOULD look, rather than chasing after photorealism. Strangely enough, Viva Pinata and Animal Crossing had the same feeling attached, now that you mention it...
John McPoop @ May 10th 2008 11:37PM
I have never played those games but from what I understand in Little Big Planet you can build any type of level ... As far as the actual gameplay I am not sure if it is just a racing game or if you make a shooter in a level ... I know just like Spore they consider creating the content as gameplay as well
