Yeah because Halo and MP are SO comparable. They're almost so identical I can't even tell them apart!

I liked the fact that it was a third-person view: it was like a third-person narrative through a fairytale, instead of following the chronicles of the Hero of Time.

Incredible visuals? Intricately detailed world? I don't think you played Ocarina, or ANY N64 game, with comments like that.

Well it was delayed a couple years or so, but when it was announced alongside the N64 the screenshots looked unbelievable. The only problem were the delays till 1998. By then the PS1 came out and (it's hard to say this since PS1 games look so fugly now) games with graphics like FF7 with its incredible cutscenes and gran turismo came out and all of a sudden ocarina of time didn't look as great.

But compared to other N64 games it's probably the best looking game on the system.

Having played Link's Crossbow Training I'd love to play a full FPS/TPS in the Zelda Universe but OoT was a master piece still, my 2nd favorite Zelda of all time.

I am a Zelda freak. I often ponder getting a Triforce tattoo on my hand, or, a little more extreme, a full Master Sword that runs the length of my spine. So I know it's practically suicide to already be anticipating THE NEXT Zelda on THE NEXT Nintendo "console."

I say "console" because the last "war" really changed how the major companies will play the game (pardon the pun) next time around, and what will be brought to the table probably wont be a console at all. The many who waited the long 2.5 years to hold their own copy of Twilight Princess know how torturous it was. All that hype over the Revolution, desperately searching for scraps of new info every day, weeding through all the speculation for real answers took its toll.

This video still brings tears to my eyes.

You know your life is pathetic when the happiest time you can remember was speeding home very early in the morning right after the Wii launch with that white box in the gift bag on the passenger seat.

I have enjoyed all the Zelda adventures and so I say to Iwata and Miyamoto, you know the fans are there and will accept what you produce as long as you remain true to Zelda ideal.

I think the next title should be "The Legend of Zelda - The Origin of Magic." Up until now it's been about the Triforce / Sacred Realm, good and evil, dual worlds, etc. While these are integral to their respective games the magic element seems to have been taken for granted. Where did this magic come from? Why is it available to the characters? Surely, it's worth exploring first-person or not.

I'm sorry, but I saw this comment and had to dig it back up, just for kicks:

"The fact is, gameplay facilitates storytelling, and thereby a game about a space marine fighting an alien invasion would make little sense as an adventure, whereas a game about a futuristic archaelogist uncovering the mystery of an apocalypse would make little sense as a fast-paced shoot-em-up."

So I suppose a game about a theoretical physicist dealing with the aftermath of a failed science experiment wouldn't make a very good FPS then, would it? I dearly hope nobody fails to see the reference, but just in case... (λ)

And I'm pretty sure that the original WH40k game had very little action going on, yet we had epic battles between the valliant Space Marines, the emperor's finest, and the Tyranid infestation, scourge of all life.

Oh, and perhaps a futuristic scientist (λ) would be better suited at uncovering the backstory of a post-apocalyptic earth in FPS style...

It all boils down to how the designers make it fit. I mean, you can't say "this sort of action fits this genre" because really, gameplay and presentation *are* separate. It just depends on the style of presentation and/or gameplay that are provided.

As one final note on this, a game that completely invalidates the gameply+presentation bit would be System Shock 2 when compared to MP. It ends up being very similar to MP in many ways, yet it is also very different. Gameplay was vastly different and yet very similar: you scanned and/or collected items to pick up most of the story and it was a slower pace than most FPS games, yet it doesn't feel like MP at all because there are disjointed dissimilarities in their gameplay AND presentation. They (play/presentation) are codependent to te extent that they have some influence over each other, but they don't have huge impacts on each other. Final example: MGS.

Now, on topic: FP Zelda... Can't say I think highly of it. I mean sure, Nintendo wouldn't make it unless it worked, but still...

And as far a triforce tats go, he doesn't actually get the symbol on his hand until the power of the triforce is awakened, so keep that in mind. Also try to think how you'd have to explain it to your grandkids... But I'd go for a 1:1, tempered steel rendition of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield any day, and perhaps a real version of the Ocarina of Time. All of which I *do* have BTW, the Sword and Shield make for interesting conversation starters with guests, but I tend to attract security when I take it to cons. :P Peacebonding my ass...

Well, this rant is about long enough, so here's me, signing off!
