They do this kind of crap all the time. Fake or tweaked comparisons to really make one side look worse than the other. They just love provoking console wars or something.

Anyways, who gives a crap this time... this game is utter shit anyways. Physics/controls are terrible, smoke effects look god awful, etc.

No driving game in recent memory has given me such an intense 'racing' experience. I don't care that cars sometimes 'seem' to pivot around the center or that the acceleration doesn't match the real worl data down to a micro second (zzzzz... GT... zzzz). The thrill of the racing itself, the absolutely glorious AI, the sense of danger and intensity added by the damage system and 20 car races is hard to be beat. Most fun I had in ages, try it online with 12 racers... makes for really good races, and tehrefore good times.

@BIGGEN:

I thought I had: "Physics/controls are terrible, smoke effects look god awful, etc."

Anyways, I suppose I should have been more clear and said something like: "IN MY OPINION, I feel the game is crap. See the following examples..."

You guys take a long time to post news some times.

You really should get some random staffer who just sits on 24/7 for important stuff like this.

Important? It was just a fluke I guess. I've dl'ed the Demo on 360 (for me) AND PS3 (for my kids) and they look identical. GT is stupid for even doing comparison vids on these games.

agreed. Both have perks and weakness. I love High Def Movies and I love the Live service. I hate the low selection of games and I hate the Red ring of death.

Regardless it's an awesome generation of gaming.

Sure it could just be a mistake. This is not the 1st time they have been accused of doing something like this. In my opinion, it is highly UNLIKELY that a site can make a mistake like this. The button symbols are not even close and on top of that, they showed the most mundane crash they could find for the "PS3" version.

It's kinda pointless really, GT5P makes this look like crap anyway. DL demo and deleted after 15 minutes of ho hum racing, very acadey also, not very realistic.

Believe it or not some people actually prefer arcade racers over realistic lame-athons.

If I want a realistic driving experience I'm more than happy to take my own car for a spin.

The presentation is arcadey but the gameplay is sim all the way buddy. Trust me, if it were arcadey my kids and I wouldve loved it.

Fenix,

When I would take a corner I hardly had to brake b4 the turn and the tires felt like glue. It was REALLY hard to lose control. That is what I meant by arcadey. The only arcade style racing games that I have liked are N4S series and Motorstorm.

Yes yes I knew that. This game is Colin McRae, just under a different name. Codmasters strives for more of a sim like experience than arcade. So for me, when a sim stlye racing game feels arcadey then it is not very realistic. If however they deliberately created an arcade racing game IE Motorstom, that would be different.

White Sox, Turn of the driving aids and then see how easy the game is and how "sticky" the tires are.

I hear Baja is a good mixtures of Arcade and simulation. A friend of mine is working on it so I cant say to much but what he mentioned to me sounded epic. Not epic in terms the quality of the game but an event added that sounded awesome. I know nothing other then the few things he mentioned and what I heard sounded fun and had slight sand box options but not as open like burnout.

Could it be that GT has always f'd up their PS3 comparisons and is affiliated with MTV, who is pretty buddy buddy with Microsoft?

I don't think it's intentional - they usually try to push the 360 over the PS3.

I've recently started to follow this game.

Can anyone answer this question though. Is this game linked to DiRT buy any chance? I've seen a few videos of the racing and the Hud on the cars look similar to what I played in a demo for DiRT last holiday season.

Just wondering. Visuals and details look nice. I need to learn how to drive racing sims better before I consider this one. Otherwise my car is dead on the first turn.

I hate all this next-gen "damage" that is done to the vehicles in games now. I played it with all 3 cars on all 3 maps they offered in the demo and damn I couldn't finish one race without my car running like a POS at the end of teh race.

Codemasters said GRID = fun back in racing games. I say Codemasters = full of shit!

Yeah, I have mixed feelings on it, Fenix. I like to destroy cars, but at the same time, if I'm trying to do a race I really don't want that much realism... Racing games usually tweak the rules because, let's face it, you have a much harder time controlling a car with a gamepad vs actually driving it. When you're actually driving you can feel when the tires start to slip or when you're pushing it too far, you can glance in mirrors or look around corners in a split second without turning your head, etc.

So, in a pure racing game, I'd like to see damage but not have it effect the control of the car. Whereas in something like GTA or Burnout Paradise, I want the car to degrade while damaged... popped tires, bent axle, whatever. I want it all to effect the driving of the car.

Mark, the cars handle almost exactly like the cars in Dirt. Only difference is that you no longer have to battle the terrain, which in my opinion, actually takes much away from the experience Dirt offered.

And Fenix, I was the same way when I first started on Dirt. I got much better when I learned not to take turns at 90MPH while flooring the accelerator. They've actually somewhat accomodated for the exagerated damage in Grid. You can rewind time to before you wrecked your car, a la Prince of Persia. When I've got more than a couple rewinds left at the end of a race, I always try to spectacularly demolish my car, just because I know I can get away with it. It's kinda like Allstate Accident Forgiveness, only, you know, more fun.

Haha Fenix!!!! Don't blame the damage systems... blame your obvious lack of driving skills! The damage adds soo much tension, wouldn't be the same game without it. Hey at least it deters people from constantly ramming you off the track like in other racing games without damage (are there actually any left? Ahhh yeah, that GT game is still trailing behind).

First off thanks everyone!

I really liked DiRT but like many, I placed dead last or not at all. I love racing games like this I just hope they teach me how to play through the campaign. I think I'll pick up DiRT during the next buy two get one free sale at gamestop or ebay.

It's happened a few times. Well, not this specifically, but unfair comparison videos by them.

I remember them doing one for Orange Box, where they tried to lead you to believe there was random lag on the PS3 version. They initiated a quicksave on the PS3 side during the side-by-side (which, in Valve's games, does tend to lag it up). It's also kind of funny because quicksave is a feature that doesn't even exist on the 360 version. ...again I had to say "who cares?" because Orange Box belongs on PC anyways. ;D

And of course all the videos where they tweaked the brightness way up to make you think the PS3 version was washed out looking.

download the HD video here. i uploaded it for all to see. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=561DBBRI

ull see the sounds are quitier in the ps3 versions, giving the illusion of suckerness. and the car interior at the end looks worse on the ps3. but its the same game!! and the fact that the crashes are more spectacular in the xbox version. the pulled this off after 1 hour and got a thousand downloads.

dont want to point names but one of your bloggers thought it would be better not to report this. but thanks. remember they would lose all the majority xbox 360 lovers if they did make the ps3 look better. GameTrailers < MTV < Viacom which was paid houndreds of millions from Microsoft to advertise for them.
