In case you missed it, check out the Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts trailer one more time. Watch closely, especially at the 1:45 mark. Yep, that's an 8-bit Mario in all his planar glory, as both a testament to the user-generated nature of the game as well as we suspect a not-so-subtle nod to their former publishing partner.
[Thanks, Michael]

Mario will always be the platformer games to reach.

Although I would like a traditional platformer to be made again (even though the achievements would be all collection oriented) I prefer the ones that put a spin on the formula like Jak 2 and 3 did with an open world or the vehicle use. Maybe banjo 3 can pull it off..hopefully they will.

I still think that Mario Galaxy set the bar for platformers.
It's a traditional platformer with a spin to the formula too.

Sure, sure. And Galaxy was great, no doubt. But in my humble opinion, Ratchet & Clank kind of owns the most recent era of platformers. God those games are good, plus they've managed to work in a story in ways Mario has never managed to do. My 2 cents, never played Banjo before, this is looking good tho.

Ratchet is good, but it doesn't have a lot of platformer elements.
I love platformers when you have to jump a lot and need to be very precise. With ledges and moving platforms, and wall jumps, etc.
Not bashing Ratchet, but Ratchet feels more like an adventure shoter more than a platformer.

I'm with Fernando...It really sucks though that the 360 doesn't have any platformers (aside from this and N+). And I really love Mario Galaxy, however, I can't justify spending the money on the console to play one or two games

Like Mario Galaxy, you use a lot of jumps: normal, double, triple, long jump, backward jump, wall jump, running and then back, spin jump and others jumps.
Almost all the game is about jumping, and I love that kind of games.

Exactly Scotty...
For example, I think N+, Marble Blast Ultra, Mario Galaxy, etc. are more platformers games than Ratchet (not saying Ratchet is a bad game).

I consider Ratchet and Clank more of a shooter with some platforming elements than a platformer with shooting elements. It's a great series, but to say it is a better platformer than Mario is(and I am trying my best to not sound like a fanboy) ludicrous.

Yeah I have Ratchet & Clank ToD. It cant even come close to touching Mario. Its a shooter/hack n slash 85% and platformer maybe 15%. Great game no doubt but not a platformer. Banjo 3 keeps looking better and better IMO. GT just put this new vid up. HD baby, and let me tell you it looks B-E-A-utiful!

Mario Galaxy and Ratchet and Clank mentioned in the same sentence without " - is better than -" (in that order), instantly dismisses your comment.

I like how anything with building is somehow ripping off a game that isn't even out yet (and won't be for bloody ages). Yes Gary's mod, countless Lego games and an obscure game called Project Omega on the ZX Spectrum, where you build robots to explore an abandoned alien space station, were all ripping off Little Big fucking Planet! Sony must have been borrowing Nintendo's time machine. Sheesh.

Stupid. Really stupid.
Rare stop trying to be cool or look cool and go produce some good games. You haven't earn the right to attack Mario just yet.
This is your last chance to make something decent.

Good games? Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Diddy Kong Racing, Perfect Dark, Perfect Dark Zero, Viva Pinata, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Donkey Kong 64, Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country, Blast Corps, GoldenEye 007, and Battletoads say, "Hi."

Pfft. No one is questioning the developer Rare USED to be. But they certainly are a joke now. Speaking of jokes, PDZ and Viva Pinata being on your list made me laugh.

"Stop trying to look cool?" They were sold by Nintendo like meat at a farmer's market to Microsoft for top-dollar placing many of their projects in limbo and forcing them to rush a bit of Star Fox Adventures and winding up in a state where no one wanted to take their games seriously because "leaving Nintendo" "ruined" them that haunts them to this day.
I think they have earned the right to blow up the head of Mario in one of their trailers.

Nintendo dumped them for a reason. That reason is an inability to stray from the "Like Mario 64, but with assloads of filler" formula for adventure games. The only two games they made worth playing (and I've played them all, minus Viva Pinata so I don't know what to say about that) were Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Not Perfect Dark Zero. Perfect Dark. Perfect Dark was their peak and they've plummeted down the slopes since then.

Looks like someone forgot to mention Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day (not the terrible, horrible remake), Jet Force Gemini, ANY Donkey Kong Country game (which includes DK64), and Kameo.
Yes, I liked Kameo. Only game Rare's made for MS that reaches the level of their old stuff. Viva Pinata was good too, but...eh.
