New Ninja Gaiden II screens are bloody, marvelous
Marking the return of one of gaming's most agile assassins, Ninja Gaiden II seems poised to satisfy our increasingly alarming desire for a good, old-fashioned lopping of limbs. It's true that series protagonist and demon antagonist, Ryu Hayabusa, isn't the most subtle of ninjas -- his technique is about as stealthy as a piano rolling down a flight of stairs -- but he gets the job done.
On a related note, Microsoft has announced that the game will be receiving its first batch of gamerpics (100 MS points per pack) and themes (150 MS points per pack) today. Perhaps we'll be able to collect all the severed in-game arms and legs and use them as payment?
Ninja Gaiden II is out in the US on June 3rd.

I guess I'm the only one left who isn't impressed by ridiculously-excessive gore.
Curtis the Claw:PSN-ctclaw @ May 13th 2008 2:07PM
Yep, looks like it.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 13th 2008 2:08PM
Nope I'm not impressed either but it's not because of the excessive gore it's cause this game is almost literally the exact same as 1 with just (a lot) moar bludd.
It's also not like this series has any notable story or interesting characters so they kinda trap themselves into making the exact same game.
FOXHOUND @ May 13th 2008 2:10PM
Well... the NG2 storyline on NES was good for its time. Maybe the NGII of this generation will make up for the whimsical adventure of the first?
Curtis the Claw:PSN-ctclaw @ May 13th 2008 2:07PM
Looks like I need to purchase and beat Sigma before June 3rd:(
PojoMofo @ May 13th 2008 2:10PM
not likely, the game is not really long but it is freakin hard so be prepared to do boss battle 10+ time before you beat them.
truely Epic game though, and this looks to follow suit.
NG2 sigma for PS3 plz...
Am I the only one that thinks NG owns DMC
tmacairjordan87 @ May 13th 2008 2:12PM
It's not very hard if you play on normal. I don't know if they toned anything down with the ps3 port but when I played it (on ps3) the most I had to redo a boss fight was three times and that was on the infamous boss everyone seems to think is impossible.
PojoMofo @ May 13th 2008 2:15PM
I played Alma like 10 or 12 times, like most bosses, once you figure out a good tactic, they arent real tough.
I played the origianl xbox version and sadly... I am a Ninja Dog :(
Vcize @ May 13th 2008 2:16PM
"Am I the only one that thinks NG owns DMC"
I'm pretty sure that just about everyone thinks that.
pkpk523 @ May 13th 2008 2:13PM
argh, just when i was going to make the transition away from my 360 to the ps3 complete! This game looks amazing, and I'm sure it will play even better. Looking forward to this one more than anything else on 360's slate.
DemonGSides @ May 13th 2008 2:44PM
why transition away from it.
marauder800 @ May 13th 2008 2:52PM
HAHA Bad move, but make me an offer for my shiny black paperweight :)
pkpk523 @ May 13th 2008 4:09PM
why? well, i've had a lot of hardware problems with my 360, having sent it in 3 times and it still sounds like a mac truck. so a little while back, I tried to make a conscious effort to stop buying games for it, especially with the warranty running out. But I know that I'm gonna get NG2 and Gears2, so my plan isn't going as smoothly as planned. Plus, I haven't picked up GTA4 yet, and am wondering if the DLC is worth continuing to support microsoft
Cyro @ May 13th 2008 2:23PM
Its good to have a really hard and challenging game once in a while. I can say with all seriousness that this is going to be one of the year best game.
idiot @ May 13th 2008 2:25PM
I've seen enuff screens and videos, can I get the demo now? please
J @ May 13th 2008 3:24PM
No, I'll do you one better... A VIDEO of somebody playing a demo.
arrrgh @ May 13th 2008 3:04PM
honestly not impressed. Here's hoping for gameplay value
Maverick Saturn @ May 13th 2008 3:37PM
I would like this game more if once you killed someone their corpse remained on the ground, or cutting off thier leg would leave them screaming, how can they die instantly, kinda takes away the fun and whole purpose of taking off limbs ¬_¬
Warrax @ May 13th 2008 4:00PM
Ah, what have you been smoking? The corpses, limbs, whatever is left of them in Ninja Gaiden 2 remain on the ground and as has been written several times when you cut a limb off the enemy it keeps attacking, with even deadlier moves on top of things.
Curtis the Claw:PSN-ctclaw @ May 13th 2008 4:02PM
So basically you're saying you would like it more if it did what it already does?
Heh @ May 13th 2008 4:09PM
"So basically you're saying you would like it more if it did what it already does?"
Some people can truly never have their thirst for blood sated.
Maverick Saturn @ May 13th 2008 4:17PM
No, I mean, walk back afterwards and glorify over the massacre you have created :)
Not bodies on the ground now, kill a few people a few metres away, come back and only blood is on the ground, where did the corpses go?
Ninja Gaiden is cool as it is, I just mean it would be extra cool if that were possible, yeah, I'm bloody thirsty, so what, its a game, its a chance to relieve my stress of lecturers :P
Trev @ May 13th 2008 4:22PM
I thought the first game was really stiff and twitchy and I didn't enjoy playing it very much because of that. I'd like to give this one a try to know if that's been improved. If it has, this could be a compelling game for a 360 purchase (thanks, worst tax plan ever).
Rob Accomando @ May 13th 2008 4:28PM
I hope part 2 is as challenging as part 1.
If they dumb it down to "reach a wider audience" I'm gonna scream.
Freelance @ May 13th 2008 8:59PM
Wow, they look real nice without that crappy bloom that bleeds through your screen on the gameplay videos.
