Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise screens
Curious to see what sort of "trouble" is brewing in Viva Piñata's candy-colored paradise? The six screenshots Microsoft released this morning don't offer many clues (Graveyards? Volcanoes? Evil tiki guys?) but should be enough to whet your appetite if you're eager to get back to Piñata Island.

I know that it's a little unpopular of me to say, but I just couldn't get into Viva Pinata, for some reason. I'm thinking that maybe I just wasn't on enough pain-killers.
PojoMofo @ May 13th 2008 2:55PM
then we are both unpopular :(
DemonGSides @ May 13th 2008 2:59PM
Yep
Kye - Joystiq Greybeard @ May 13th 2008 3:09PM
Mind if I sit on the unpopular bench with you guys?
doba @ May 13th 2008 3:13PM
Is this seat taken?
Maverick Saturn @ May 13th 2008 3:41PM
Guess its a little crowded here, let me just go sit on that other unpopular bench over there.
Heh @ May 13th 2008 3:52PM
Yeah, I better sit down aswell. I never could get into this game.
Swamp Donkey @ May 13th 2008 6:45PM
My wife liked it, but I'm going to join you guys.

I'm usually all over this kind of cute stuff, but Viva Pinata's painful tutorial system and general treatment of the player like a 5 year old put me off. I realize it is designed for children, but it really seemed inaccessible to adults who weren't able to turn off annoying "helpful" suggestions or skip through tuts.

Don't lie, all those furry little animals kept making you hungry and you couldn't concentrate on the game!

I've gotta laugh at the game being multi-player as well;
Multiple people controlling the same pointer.
I honestly gave this game a serious, whole-hearted try. But somewhere in the second minute I couldn't take it any longer. Would sell it if it wasn't a gift.
Vidikron (FU) @ May 13th 2008 3:48PM
Controlling the same pointer? Where did you see that?
Kye @ May 13th 2008 3:59PM
I can swear on my right arm.
I tried playing that game with my stepson; when I picked up the second pad we were controlling the same cursor on screen.
Needless to say we got bored after 1 minute of fooling with each others attempts to grow grass.

I think it was when one of my pinatas attacked another one then the rest descended and cannibalized its candy filled body that I realized this game was just a tad bit to weird for my tastes.

Im sorry you guys, this is a classic Nintendo-ish type of game. It's much more then a garden game... Its economics, trade and strategy. Look into the specific communities that support this game and you will be surprised how indepth this game really goes. Now the cartoon is a whole different story, I dont think anyone could have gotten into that.
giantenemycrab @ May 13th 2008 3:27PM
can't wait for this, I loved Viva Pinata.
Maverick Saturn @ May 13th 2008 3:43PM
God... if it isn't these THINGS again... ¬_¬
Leobebes @ May 13th 2008 4:26PM
I unlocked some dragon thing from an egg I excavated from the purchased mine. One of the greatest moments in gaming for me.
Viva Pinata 2 I cannot wait...
why not the LS2LS7? @ May 13th 2008 4:30PM
So that's what the mine is good for. It sure takes up a lot of space, so I didn't keep it in my garden.
Leobebes @ May 13th 2008 4:45PM
Dude that dragon literally makes your controller vibrate everytime it walks!
Believe me you need to be patient with your little miners, its worth the wait!
