I believe when I actually use it! To be honest I was one of the few (?) gamers who liked the cover system better before it got tweaked.

In before Cliffy haters. And imo,I agree with him. I've seen waaay to many games with a mediocre cover system.GTA4 as one of the offenders.

Unless it's a 20 vs Niko or I'm low on Health, I prefer to have an all-out fight.

you can't have an all-out fight in GTA4 without some cover. it's not the best cover system but for a Rock Star game it's pretty good.

Good luck being better than Rainbow 6's cover system. I didn't mind Gears 1's cover system but Rainbow 6's is infinitely better.

I couldn't get used to Rainbow 6. While technically more sophisticated it just wasn't fun. Gears cover system was functional, simple, and fun.

Also the cover system in GTA... sucks.

The R6 cover system was OK (and I would say 2nd best behind Gears imho), but it was just too slow. I'm not sure which programmer decided that trying to blind toss a grenade from behind cover meant you wanted to go stand in the doorway for two seconds, build up some courage, and then slowly chuck the grenade out there but it wasn't the wisest decision.

Peaking in and out from cover is just too slow for a game where bullets take you down so quickly as well. From what I've seen of most of the good R6 players online (and I am certainly NOT one of them) they use cover strictly as a means to see around corners. Once they actually get shooting you're better off just moving back and forth behind the wall yourself and ignoring the LT button altogether.

i think that the RSV has the best cover stystem, although i do agree it is kind of slow. i like how you never go into the cover accidently because the cover is on LT not the A button or something. Its also a seamless transition into cover. it just feels the best out of other cover systems

Speaking of cover systems, I hope they patch GTA to be a bit more like Gears.

The *ONLY* problem with Gears' cover system is that there are too many actions mapped to one button. The core cover mechanic itself is pure genius, and light years beyond anything else any other game has tried.

Considering there are few games out there that have what can be considered a good cover system, they don't have a lot to beat.

That being said I'd say the GOW cover system was really good, but it had several slight flaws. Hopefully this means those flaws are gone.

Well since MGO and Uncharted have significantly LOWERED the "cover system" bar, this shouldn't be too hard to achieve.

It's funny to think that they wouldn't make a 3rd GOW. This is a given. GOW2 will sell, even if it sucks, based on the first one. That said, it will have good sales, and most likely we will see a 3rd.

I do really like the cover system in Gears, straight forward and simple. Rainbow Six has a great one also. I will agree with the others here and say that GTA4 leaves something to be desired. The cover is a little "sticky" and not as responsive as I would like.
