Dyack: 'Strong chance' that Eternal Darkness will return
You know, it's a funny thing about adjectives in the video game industry. Final Fantasy is never actually final, the company that made Cabela's 4x4 Off-Road Adventure III was called Fun Labs and with its one appearance on GameCube, Eternal Darkness seemed to be anything but. Silicon Knights boss Denis Dyack provided some hope however yesterday, while speaking at Microsoft's Spring Showcase.
TVG reports that Dyack said "We don't want to be pigeon-holed [into a genre], we want to be known for strong content...There's a strong chance we'll return to it, but there's no announcements yet." It's not much, but if you've played the game we know that's enough for your day to be officially made. If you haven't -- what are you waiting for?

I loved it back then and i probably still do but the combat is bad, i mean really bad... but this game keeps you going for the story, and the insanity effects. Badass Game... I Loved it.

Tell your brother or sister who doesn't know much about games. Everyone here knows it already.
See one thread at a time I will have everyone saying that.
Maybe I should run for President... or start a cult.

Silicon Knights was a second party, just like Rare. So it's definitely possible it could show up on any or all three systems.
In all seriousness, though. I'm sure that my kids will enjoy Eternal Darkness 2 when they get out of college.

Perfect logic.
But based on your posting history, you already believe Sony is God. And praying to them I don't think will help.
Oh, that's right. It never existed.
Of course, even before that there was Atari vs. Intellivision wars - so maybe the only true peace was when all we had was the Magnavox Odyssey.

I'd buy a console for this.
Any game with such flawed combat that STILL shines through as fun and not tedious even for a second has GOT to be great.
Plus.. a sequel means they can iron out problems.
hell i'd go for a remake even, with or without ironed controls... and id still buy a new console for it if i had to.

We'll have to wait and see.

I thought the magic ststem was a little convelouted though. If it were up to me (and of course its not, irate fanboys who may well flame me for this comment) I would ditch the "majik" And just make it all about puzzles, monsters and insanity effects.
In respect to the latter though, where have they got to go? Seems liek most of the good ideas may have been used up in teh first game. But no question I would buy a sequel if it were to show up.

To be honest though, I only ever watched Eternal Darkness. Always meant to buy it and play it myself, but I'm too much of a wuss. Luigi's Mansion made me jumpy. =O

Its not. Nintendo co-owns the franchise, some of the code and owns the entire sanity effects system.
If it would be on something, it would be for the Wii.

Nintendo owns the Sanity Effects system and helped code it in the game, meaning any code they wrote they also own. They also co-own the title of the game, much like how studios have titles and thus can let different developers work on the same brand.
