Apparently game developers can hitch a ride with the devil if they're looking for some tax breaks. According to the Duluth Weekly, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed into law the 2008 Entertainment Industry Investment Act, which gives financial incentives to film, TV and game development. Bill Thompson, deputy commissioner of the Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office, points out the law makes Georgia one of the few states with incentives for the video game industry.
The signing took place at the studios of Turner Broadcasting, which not only runs several television stations, but also GameTap. The new incentives offer a 20% tax credit, with an additional 10% if it includes an animated Georgia promotional logo in the finished product. So, go on down to Georgia, developers. If you can survive the summers, they're giving away free money.

Sweet! I'd like to take advantage of this, as soon as I can make a decent game.

What Alexander fails to realize is how this refers to Georgia the country not Georgia the U.S. state.
What a nationcentric elitist. I bet he wears socks with his sandals, too.

*lives in Savannah*
Yea, so not worth being in Georgia. Any company that would take advantage of this would probably base in Atlanta, where you've got the heat AND about a thousand times more people than I've already got to deal with.
Sorry, but no matter what companies take advantage of this, I'm leaving the state for cooler climates once I finally get my degree. I don't even care WHICH cooler climates, so long as I can come home and not have to take a second shower each day.

Ew, Savannah. I live in Atlanta where I can take shade under skyscrapers! Haha, but seriously, where do you go to school? Not SCAD, I assume, because that's entirely misnamed for its actual location...

I go to South University for Information Technology. And, well, SCAD is named fairly well when you consider they probably own over half the buildings downtown...

I dunno, I'm from Atlanta and go to school in Statesboro right by Savannah, and it is way hotter down here than it is in Atlanta.

At least here in Savannah, we get the ocean breezes in as far as Pooler normally. You probably don't get that in Statesboro. I would imagine Atlanta to be even hotter than either Savannah or Statesboro though, what with being more developed and trapping the heat and all.

Last month Michigan passed a law which gives back up to 42% of production costs for movies and game production also.

There's nothing wrong with Georgia. (Other then a little lack of jobs in many areas - but that's the United States in general.)
Stop complaining and get air conditioning. x]
