Now, is it ... funny, per se? Well, our ribs have been more fiercely tickled, that's for sure. But they're trying. Isn't that the important thing?

Amy: "The price of the postage stamp goes up one cent, next week. In a response, 'Awww.....that's cute!', said oil."
I lol'd at that. That was the only funny bit in that whole Weekend Update skit.

I like when people talk about SNL saying "Oh that (one-joke skit) was pretty funny last week."
You know, skits used to have LOTS of jokes in them. Different ones, with multiple funny characters. Not just bad actors reacting to a single weird person.

oh my god what THE HELL were those two doing?! Did they think doing the robot equated to playing a current-gen video game? What is this, 1997? GTAIV was mocapped for the most part, so they're going to pretend their hand were polygon-lacking paddles and make their movements as unnatural as possible?
Hell, even calling what they were doing "the robot" is a grave injustice to robots everywhere. Oh my fucking god this is why I don't watch SNL anymore: every so often they come out with a true gem (Lazy Sunday, Dick in a box), but everything thing else, EVERYTHING FUCKING THING ELSE is pure, unadulterated trash smelling like Grizzly Bear taint

I just caught the top 27 or so of a show on E! of the 101 Most Unforgettable SNL Moments... it's very sad to see how far the show has fallen :(
Where are the Shweaty Balls, the Cowbells, the Wayne's Worlds of today?

You may find this amazing, but back when each of those skits was new, everybody was complaining about how stupid they were.
SNL is only funny later.
It's true. When the original cast was on, most of the sketches bombed flatter than anything Jimmy Fallon wrote. A couple years later it was considered "classic" and while a few skits were remembered fondly (Samurai, Coneheads, etc.) others were completely forgotten.
This happens with every SNL cast. While the current cast is on, viewers say "This show sucks. The current cast isn't funny. Now, four seasons ago they were funny." and then maybe four seasons later they're saying "This show sucks now. The current cast isn't funny. Now, four seasons ago they were funny!"
Over and over. I've watched the pattern. The current cast ALWAYS gets bashed until they're long gone.
The biggest problem with SNL now is that they keep too many cast members for too many years. They need to refresh every 3 or 4 years to maintain that "they were funny four years ago" cliche.
The original cast wasn't there very long. Now we consider them comedy gods.

Interesting thing is 3 SNL cast members voice GTA characters.
Jason Sudekis is Richard Bastion on WKTT.
Bill Hader is some panelist on one of the radio shows
And Fred Armisen (sp?) is a few of the interviewees (hot dog vendor, pervert) on Integrity

Straight up, that sucked. I'll just watch MADTV's version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAzezr28C5Q). You know, the show you watch when you want to watch something FUNNY.
