Rumor: 360 dashboard update to support game installs, 'motion sensor devices' [update]

You'll find the "incomplete" list of unconfirmed features after the break, though we'll draw your attention to two in particular. "Calibration options for motion sensor devices." That certainly brings to mind the numerous Newtonian rumors of a Microsoft waggle wand we've encountered over the last few weeks. As for allowing games to "store installation data on Storage Device for faster loading?" We'll go make a sandwich while you guys discuss.

That is a neat list of updates, but without clan support, I barely care.
NATO_Duke @ May 14th 2008 10:01AM
Yeah I agree, they really need to add the clan support already.
I like this list, but I don't know why people with a 20 gig hd would ever want to install games. This option won't be receiving much praise, unless they open the lame hd system up to allow us to add bigger ones or they lower the price of the large drive substantially. All I see happening in the interim is a lot of people bitching about how they can't fit anything on their drives.
Brym @ May 14th 2008 10:18AM
There is a workaround to get limited "clan support" already. Just create a dummy sliver account with the name of your clan. Have everyone in the clan send a friend request to that account. Then, when you want to see your clan members, just view the friends of that account.
mike @ May 14th 2008 1:51PM
wtf clan support? Ok thats missing, not great, but this is single handidly the best update there ever was for xbox live.
-4 player multiprivate chat
-Remove 0 gamerscore games like those garbage old demos
-increse text sie limit for msging
- + more amazing features listed above.
This is by far the best update yet. It actually seems almost too good to be true. The only things missing after this would be clan support, download speed shown while downloading and maybe another couple little things, all of which will come by fall lets hope
luckycharms711 @ May 14th 2008 4:04PM
nato you will not be downloading whole games to the hardrive just maybe one gig of info so that their will be faster load times. I am sure you can eventually delete that off of your hardrive if you are done with the game to save space, and if you choose to play it again you just have to wait for the game to download to the drive or choose not to and wait for the longer load time.
Chase @ May 14th 2008 4:35PM
Yeah Brym, I already do that for CheapAssGamer. I'd rather have something more straightforward, though.
Scump @ May 14th 2008 8:38AM
I really rather hoped for a 16:10 aspect ratio support update... aw
Nate @ May 14th 2008 8:44AM
I doubt you'll ever see that. Too few people play consoles on monitors, it would just confuse your average joe...
capt_carl @ May 14th 2008 9:36AM
Agreed. 13xx by 768 just doesn't cut it. 1680x1050 pls.
McCartier @ May 14th 2008 9:42AM
yes, 16:10 plz
DaveC @ May 14th 2008 8:38AM
Rumour alert.
Danieru @ May 14th 2008 8:40AM
Me want store games on hard drive. Me like fast access. Why Microsoft no have this already me no understand.
jynxycat @ May 14th 2008 8:41AM
Yah, cause those 20gb HDs are great for loading games to.
zero2dash @ May 14th 2008 9:51AM
Yeah absolutely, especially when byte size limitations + the lame partition scheme they used nets you a whole 13 gigs of space which is eaten up rather quickly.
*hugs my Premium model, gives evil eye to Elite 100gig HD owners*
4MyFriends @ May 14th 2008 10:02AM
It's a shame Microsoft hasn't released a higher storage HD yet...
Memo @ May 14th 2008 10:32AM
Where did you get that girl picture?
zero2dash @ May 14th 2008 11:58AM
It's *really* a shame you can't do a DIY HD upgrade more easily, and it's *even MORE* a shame that you can't use a damn external USB HD.
I know Microsoft's out to make money, but their 360 HD costs are ludicrous.
And yes, I've wondered myself where that jynxycat picture came from. =)
Tiptup300 @ May 14th 2008 3:29PM
Memo, this is the internet, they aren't that rare.
Nate @ May 14th 2008 8:42AM
Mm.... sandwiches... Well, maybe the PS3 won't be the only console getting install options. One thing I could see that helping with on the 360 is helping with games that require multiple disks. You'd just have to swap disks at install time to put stuff on the hard drive and have one "play" disk.
xFenixKnightx @ May 14th 2008 8:44AM
Take THAT PSN!
/flameshield!!
Nate @ May 14th 2008 8:45AM
I can't tell if you're trying to insult Live or PSN...
xFenixKnightx @ May 14th 2008 8:56AM
Let me make it more clear Nate.
PSN BLOWS!!! Have a nice time trying to catch up. This is such a great list.
Ninjakamster (PSN: Chin-Poh) @ May 14th 2008 8:58AM
If PSN was also $50 a year, then I'd complain but its basically for free so I can't.
But I bet a lot of us want a paid service for higher quality.
Emophia @ May 14th 2008 9:10AM
Don't be such an idiot flames.I don't see how this relates to PSN at all... There's nothing that notable besides Harddrive instals, group chats (PSN already has) and Child account promoting. Not to mention it's all rumor too.Why are you sucha flame bating fool Fenix? It's people like you that are just as bad as the fanboys, if not worse.
xFenixKnightx @ May 14th 2008 9:21AM
Emo
I hardly ever flame or troll so be quiet. Sorry for stating the obvious buddy I have both PS360 so I have a chance to compare them everyday and plain and simple there is none. Calm the fudge down. Man, and here I was thinking that this was a 360 story and thread.
Emophia @ May 14th 2008 9:28AM
Dude, I don;'t give a fuck how much you troll or flame. But I hate it when people bait for flames and attention. I know Live is better then PSN.But this update doesn't seperate them further at all. If it does, I'll be glad to hear any reasons that you so obviously didn't give.Your statement was pointless, it seems like you're just trying to get attention. And Emo, witty, original, like you're not the millionth person to shorten my name to that.
Snap Count @ May 14th 2008 9:35AM
Emophia...If you hate when people bait for flames, don't throw gasoline on the fire
xFenixKnightx @ May 14th 2008 9:42AM
"Arrghhhhhh me mad, me get all upset over nothing"
-Emophia
Everything is gonna be ok buddy I can hear the waaaaambulance coming round the corner.
Vincent060 @ May 14th 2008 10:01AM
I find it funny that Fenix is acting like he didn't do anything, even though he was the first one to mention the PSN, and even said "PSN BLOWS!!!" in his comment. I think you need to relax and THINK before you type. All your doing is making yourself look like a jackass, or more accurately, a Xbox fanboy.
ViagraFiend @ May 14th 2008 10:04AM
I normally enjoy reading Fenix comments, but yeah, Emophia is right. PSN shouldnt have been brought up. Fenix-Dont get mad, you were asking for it.
xFenixKnightx @ May 14th 2008 10:13AM
Fine fine, its squashed. I know, I shouldnt have mentioned PSN =/ Sorry.
But one last thing, PSN still blows!
:P
Lighten up peeps. Its humpday, which means its almost Friday, which means BEEEEEEERRRR!!! lulz
Vidikron (FU) @ May 14th 2008 10:27AM
Yeah, it's a nice list. But some of that stuff is Live catchign up to PSN... namely the stuff in the media section.
el serpiente @ May 14th 2008 10:34AM
I think one of his kids hijacked his account.
j.howlett @ May 14th 2008 10:40AM
did you really just complain about this being a 360 story and thread?
xFenixKnightx @ May 14th 2008 10:46AM
El Serpiente
Coming from you and your comment (if you call those comments) history that is very insulting. 90% of your posts are spam. Everybody knows it too. Heres a reply from fellow Jstiq poster (Zues.:God) to you from the Gears Story yesterday...
"Seriously, does anyone like this El Serpiente guy? Acts like a total prick to everyone who isn't in the process of ejaculating over the PS3 or something related."
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/13/gears-of-war-2-assault-screens-plus-weapon-specific-execution/
el serpiente @ May 14th 2008 11:40AM
Wow, fenix, testy testy. What's the matter, get a RROD this morning? No one show up to your Gears or War cosplay party last night?
I'm not the one who is so insecure about xbox live that I need to run around the thread bellowing it's superiority like it's my 2nd job.
And, really, you're gonna quote Zeus of all people? You're a clown. Quit flapping your lips until you have something intelligent to say.
xFenixKnightx @ May 14th 2008 11:59AM
"Quit flapping your lips until you have something intelligent to say."
Dude, take your own advice. El spammer is your name from now on.
:D
Stuka @ May 14th 2008 8:45AM
Chats with more than two people (finally) would be fantastic. About 10 times a day I wish I could talk with more than one of my XBL buddies at a time.
GreatOneNot @ May 14th 2008 8:45AM
You do know the Live Camera is a motion sensing device.
NATO_Duke @ May 14th 2008 9:56AM
I'm sorry man, but reading your comment made me think of this. Watch it: http://www.videosift.com/video/Robot-Chicken-Its-The-Law-Asshole
Deric Lee @ May 14th 2008 8:46AM
Wow, this is an incredibly long list of features, I would be happy if they managed a quarter of those in one update.
I'm sorry, but this has to be pure BS, that's all great stuff, but I don't believe that they would do that much in one update.
The True Gamer @ May 14th 2008 9:27AM
You've obviously never seen the list of previous updates then, have you? There is easily 100+ items in each of the previous ones.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 14th 2008 1:02PM
It's the result of only updating twice a year instead of every other week like PSN.
Erwos @ May 14th 2008 8:46AM
If it's too good to be true... it's not. And this list, while slightly more believable than the average list, just seems too good to be true.
ScottG13 @ May 14th 2008 8:47AM
That's a lot of stuff. How did that "rumor list" end up lining up last time?
Ninjakamster (PSN: Chin-Poh) @ May 14th 2008 8:49AM
So its trying to become the PS3 then? : )
xFenixKnightx @ May 14th 2008 9:02AM
Sarcasm, right? RIGHT?!! Dude, lets just out it this way. It was already Like this...
LIVE>>>>>>>>>>PSN
now
LIVE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>PSN
Matt B @ May 14th 2008 9:26AM
No, it's completing its quest to be a PSWii60.
Ninjakamster (PSN: Chin-Poh) @ May 14th 2008 5:47PM
I was joking, what with it rumored to get motion sensing and HDD installs.
Came the fuck down 360 fanboys, your just as assholic and rabid as PS3 ones, now I can see without a doubt!
: )
JJ Rooster @ May 14th 2008 8:49AM
Sad PSN users are still waiting for an in-game XMB.
