Fall from grace.

What happened Sega? Where did it all go wrong? Genesis was so great, but then Sega CD, which wasn't so bad, but then 32X...trying to pimp the Genesis out for wayyyy too long. And then Saturn....lack of third party sealed that up. But alas, a chance, Dreamcast! Doh!..is that Sony with another station ma-thingy?

RIP SEGA....maybe you will comeback someday.

*sniff, sniff

They could stop by releasing new entries in GOOD franchises, rather than killing Sonic slowly with each new release. Really, there are so many franchises that people would love to see new entries in, and they keep churning out garbage.

¥52.47 billion (US $501 million) loss???

If SEGA didn't have it in the first place how can it be a loss??? If they first acquired it THEN someone took it you could call that a loss. Saying you lost something you never had seems a bit conceited to me.

What are you talking about? They had money and they lost some. It's not rocket science. Oh and yes it *IS* possible to lose money you don't have; it's called debt.

Sega are still doing alright, it's the downturn in Sammy's pachinko machines that are the main problem. There was an article about it 6-8 weeks ago, I believe.

Sega will never die!

I just read the headline in the Gamedaily link.

It's those damn pachinko machines! Sammy needs to wean itself off that singular revenue stream. And they need to stop dragging Sega down!

It sounds like a good time for SEGA to bring out a new new system (I wish). I still play my DreamCast from time to time.

Sonic the Hedgehog. My first introduction to the gaming world. The memories, oh the memories.

How I weep for thee Sonic.
I hope that you will retain the
glories of your speedy past.
May your rings never leave you
and may every bonus level zone grant you

an emerald.

Just noticed an error. 'retain' should be 'regain'.

You cannot retain something that you have lost...

I can't say I feel bad for them. Their lack of effort has caught up to them.

I would like to see a great Sonic game before I die though.

Why do you people keep wishing Sega would bring out a new console? Look at how 3rd parties embraced the Dreamcast and Sega's dumb decisions. That's why you'll never....eeeeeeever...see a Sega console ever agian.

The only way Sega is gonna get back the cash they lost is that they gotta make Sonic Unleashed the solution to all these bad sonic games.

They need to make another Daytona USA game and I'll singlehandedly fix their money problems. ^_^

Wait... 110 facilities and 400 workers?

So there's less than 4 people working at each location? =U

Come on, Nintendo. You print money; help 'em out

An acquisition would be a dream come true

I've never understood how Sammy could make a sustainable business in glorified Galton boxes, anyway. Have you ever seen one of those machines in action?

The only Sammy USA game I've ever seen was Big Game Hunting or something like that, and it royally sucked.
