i think this is a pretty good idea in principle. limiting someone to one headshot or one execution per round is kind of extreme though.

it really sucked trying to play a match with a 4-man team, and 2 of those people ran around trying to stick people instead of trying to win the match.

i really dont like the achievements that require ranked play. most of the multiplayer achievements are stupid already.

I'm fine with this as long as they allow player matches to count. Cause ranked sucks.

Ive played this game like hell for such a long time and never have i seen a problem with people boosting or whoring weapons specifically for an achievement.

Epic needs to focus on the real problems like People quitting out of matches. Nothing is more annoying than people dropping out of ranked matches and having to play 4 vs. 2 or some Bullshit like that, on top of the kills not counting cause its not equal teams.

ENFORCE A PENALTY FOR QUITTING EPIC...PLEASE!

Personally, I'd prefer to see them take out multiplayer achievements altogether OR just make the multiplayer ones for unranked play only.

Way too many games have been ruined by having ranked multiplayer achievements.

Cliffy B and Epic are idiots. This is definitely a bad idea. Besides... GoW is not a great game anyway, I can live without it.

Just make them attainable in unranked so I can still work towards them when playing with a group of friends and I don't care how much they limit it.

However, didn't they say a while ago that achievements like "get xx kills with xx weapon" this time around would count across single player and multiplayer? This recent interview seems to contradict that...

They should just award some 5-point achievements for each of the following:

5 headshots
20 chainsaw kills
10 pistol whippings
20 shotgun kills
1 boomshot murder-suicide

Let people get it out of their system so we just have fun playing the game.

that's so freaking retarded, it would make online achievemnets (which i dread already) even more annoying n hard 2 get. this is a terrible idea!!! i predict too many pple are going to complain about this causin epic to cut this out of the final product

Hey, Epic. How about, before you do anything else, fix the host advantage of Gears of War. Fix it. Cause its broken. Anyone that has been killed by a shotgun BEHIND A WALL knows what I'm talking about.

How about... instead of making stupid multiplayer achievements like "get 100 headshots", make multiplayer achievements that MATCH the gameplay you're looking for?

"Score an assist with 2 or more teammates nearby." would encourage teamplay.

"Rescue 50 teammates from a chainsaw duel." would encourage people to stick together.

Achievements should require thought, and they're a great way to steer gameplay in a direction that makes for a better experience. Cliffy needs more game design edumacation.

Great ideas.. but this is the company that created the seriously achievement, then added a game mode that it didn't count in.

This is also the company that screwed us out of an extra encounter and game type to sell PC copies.. that didn't sell. They don't give a f@$% about the 360 fanbase.

Good game design = enabling gamers to do as much as possible of whatever they want.

Bad game design = implementing restrictions that prevent gamers from the above.

Who cares if some people get off on unlocking achievements to the point where they play the game in a way that wasn't intended by the designer? Do gamers care about this? At all? No.
Nor do we care about protecting the sanctity of ranked matches.

Figure. It. Out.

(hey- EA listened about the Bad Company DLC. The folks at Epic's heads aren't usually as far up their collective assess as EA's tend to be, so there's hope they'll listen to the community on this)

To be honest I have more concern over 'Seriously' like problems, I had around 18,000 kills before I got seriously and none of the supposed reasons made any sense to me. As long as this is fixed then im fine with this cos no doubt on course to getting my 10k kills (presuming it will be the same again), Im gonna be getting all my other online achievements anyway at some point!

Didn't they announce that the achievements would be attainable in multiplayer, and the campaign?

I think that's a brilliant way to do it. Make the headshots higher (200?), and make it attainable through multiplayer (RANKED and PLAYER matches, very important) and single player, no limits.

10,000 kills is fine, but please not Ranked again. I guess they're having a Party system so that'll make it better, but if I could do "Seriously..." in Player matches I'd easily have it by now.

Why don't they dump all the multiplayer achievements? I guess ones for winning and playing all the maps can stay, but any that alter your style of gameplay need to go.

i for one am glad because the achievement whores pay more attention to getting the acheivement than making their team win. it's annoying. as much as you play you're gonna get the acheivement eventually, so play to win.

i hate losing because some moron is running around gunning his stupid chainsaw 50 yards away from someone to get his acheivement. or worse...someone that can't shoot straight keeps trying for headshots and keeps dying.

Now we're gonna get people pulling out the shotgun for one kill, using the chainsaw for another kill...not paying attention to the needs of the team. it'll end up being just as annoying I guess.

Wow just because theres a bunch of boosters doesnt mean they should mess it up for the skilled players
