That actually sounds like a nice game but way, way too many instruments.

Wow, I'm not even really sure what to say. That just looks embarrassing. Konami was playing the game before the game was planned, and they're coming out with that? Boring visuals, boring interface, boring music -- where's the quirky charm normally found in Konami's music games?

Oh, right. That doesn't sell in America. There's a reason they stayed out of the market here. This just degrades everyone.

On the bright side, it does make me want to load up Guitar Freaks once more.

Yes, because the only thing better than two sets of fake drums in my living room is THREE sets of fake drums in my living room.

Pulls Konami aside:

"Look Konami, you missed you chance on this one. But you can still make some money.
Only sell a keyboard instrument. Make the mic, guitar, and drums compatible with your competitors offerings. Let them duke it out, while you'll carve out a nice little niche and sell a few games.
If people can play your game with whatever instruments they already have in their house they will still buy your game.
If you don't do this you will lose your shirt. Period.
Alright, back to work you little scamp!"

For me, it all comes down to number of tracks and RB as that down to a science. By the time either of these clones come out, RB will have so many more songs and since they've proved they can do weekly DLC, no one else will be in the same league.

However, if RB2 ever came out and didn't have allow use of previously purchased DLC, then the game is wide open for the other clones.

While the music and graphics look rather uninspired, I am intrigued by the drum set that will come with it. I am a big fan of the Drum Freaks or whatever it was called arcade machine that Konami put out because it actually felt like a real drum kit with the crash cymbals being elevated above the two toms, snare, and hihat on the far left. If they can package that together, I'm sold assuming it doesn't have a price similar to that of the GDP of a small country.

blech, konami shouldnt try to push their guitar/drum games in the US anymore, they tried with GF/DM arcade machines but since they want up to $16,000 for each cabinet no one bought in. they need to try Beatmania again with few alterations to existing JP PS2 versions other than menu translation(staring at RED or HAPPY SKY), and only adding a few new & transplant songs.

I'm...actually not enthusiastic about this at all.

Really big ":/" to Konami. GF/DM with a half-American songlist would sell just as well.

All the idiots said GF was a ripoff of GH, and NOW they can safely say that you're just ripping off Rock Band at this point.

We wanted GF/DM, not GH/RB again. You know, GF/DM? GuitarFreaks/DrumMania? YOUR GUITAR/DRUM SERIES BEFORE THIS? Whatever happened to them? Are you killing them off with this ripoff? Oh wait, that's right, they never existed as American titles, so how could they be the series before this? SILLY ME.

I predict low scores and low sales. It's too late for this kind of game, Konami - The GH/RB left the station a year ago and you were left behind. GF/DM would still be a success if advertised like DDR though. It's different. It's not GH/RB again. It's quirky, strange and actually really fun to play, just like GH/RB.

RR is just another band game. GF/DM is GF/DM, something almost totally new to the US consoles.

Please, Konami. Please change this ripoff back into what you've been successful with for almost a decade.

Change it to GF/DM.

wholeheartedly agree. GF/DM being sold with all the songs they have on it, i would definitely purchase. and i don't believe it would be that hard, because that game's been made for YEARS.

It better have a SHITton of actual GF/DM songs, instead of just more licensed shit that's easier to play on a real guitar than in videogame, like the new rhythm games.

Konami is WAY too late to the party though. People who've never played GF prob won't care about this.

As much as everyone is hating on more hardware, I personally find the RB drum set far to constrictive. The 6 piece set (like, you know, almost a real set) would be welcome, provided we have cross platform compatibility.

A little bit late, but the Wii version is somewhat attractive thanks to the non-necessity to buy guitar controllers, and the DS version as well because... there's only Guitar Hero DS announced at the moment.

Wait a second... there's six drum pads but the setup for the drum charts look exactly like Rock Band with an orange kick pedal and then four pads... Interesting...

Anyways being a music game whore I'm gonna have to buy 'em all. >.

well i'll have to hold out for some actually decent 3rd party set of drums/guitars that work on all 3 of these games because now there is no way i will buy any 1 set at the moment. GH4 and this game could have awesome songs but i'll always feel i'm missing out. Also i really wish there was a way to get the guitar hero 1/2 songs i already bought to play on 3 and the upcoming 4 without paying again. a man can dream though.

I can't imagine what Konami is thinking with this. They may have been there way back when, but they missed the boat. There's no way they can establish any kind of significant competitive advantage, especially with that UI.

Then again, I prefer the GH UI to the RB one, so what do I know?

Okay.... so under what circumstances does Konami expect this to sell?
- There's less tracks on the disk than Guitar Hero or Rock Band
- The interface looks ugly and outdated
- No vocals
- Yet ANOTHER guitar & drum controller set
This thing is going to only sell to the über-hardcore rhythm game players unless the price is less than $100. But then the controllers will probably have worse quality issues than the Rock Band stuff.

And seriously, a SIX pad drum kit?
So now Rock Band has 4, Guitar Hero will have 5, and this will have 6, meaning NONE OF THEM WILL BE INTERCHANGEABLE!

Konami has had years to bring something like this out, and now that they finally have, they're going to be crowded out of the market by Activision and Harmonix.

I called this when Guitar hero 2 came out.
I knew that Konami was going to do a multiple instrument game, but I didn't know Harmonix would beat them to it.

If Konami adds "I Want Love (Studio Version)" from 'Silent Hill 3' as a Downloadable Track, maybe I'll look into it. Otherwise, I won't touch it.

Konami should just stick with "Dance Dance Revolution" & "Karaoke Revolution" in the 'Music Game Genre' because I don't think Rock Revolution will do as well as The Guitar Hero Series or Rock Band. Konami is a "Day Late & A Dollah Short".

Everyone's crying "NO MORE HARDWARE, NO MORE HARDWARE".

But I mean... isn't that what makes these games different?

Certainly you're not suggesting it's gameplay. From what I've gathered, this entire generation of rhythm games are going to all be the exact bloody same, except Harmonix is being smart and keeping things hush-hush about their game.

But that's beside the point. You can't really complain about there being more hardware when updates to the controller are the main thing fueling a full sequel.
