MGS4 'Gun Metal Gray' PS3 bundle exclusive to Konami website

While we've known for some time that the "Gun Metal Gray" PlayStation 3 bundle -- featuring a shiny 40GB model, a matching DualShock 3 controller and a Limited Edition copy of geriatric sneakfest, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots -- would be available to Americans, we didn't know until now that it would only be available to Americans logging onto Konami's website. Online and inevitably scarce pre-orders for the $599.99 package will start on May 19th, so you'd better get clicking if you want Snake and Gray Box to face off in your living room.

No, we mean it. Judging by Konami's labyrinthine sign-up process for the Metal Gear Online Beta, you'll need at least several days to prepare a registration, obtain an ID, convert that into e-currency, trade it in for the microfilm, enter the password, steal the key code, write the secret URL on a postcard and summon Hideo Kojima in an arcane ritual.

Note: This bundle is different from the regular, $499 MGS4 bundle which includes an 80GB PS3 and a DualShock 3.

Even still, insert 80gb??!! In this day and age MS and Sony need to come to terms with the HDD prices.

Says right in the article it's a 40Gig.

More important than the harddrive size is the fact this is a 40GB model, you won't be able to play MGS2 and MGS3 on it.

40 gigglebites means no PS2 compatibility I guess.

Wow, I will NOT be purchasing that. I was heavily considering it at $600... but it's only a 40GB model!?

That's ridiculous. A limited edition MGS version of a console that's had its ability to play its PS2 counterparts REMOVED is not something I'd spend an extra $200 for.

I will enjoy the regular MGS4 PS3 bundle, though.

Mmm, backwards compatibility (if only it had the EE chips though).

Well, someone could be flipping burgers and 3.30 could mean be alot. It's actually quite possible even if your not flipping burgers a 3.30/ month is alot. Just because you don't doesn't mean everyone does.

Now, I understand your hidden cost argument you prick, so save the high and mighty bs. People can call your great love out on costs too - why the hell do they not include DS3's with the PS3's still? 1 reason - to milk you. You won't admit it, because god forbid Sony acts like a business too, yet the fact is that they are milking owners into paying the extra $55 to get the rumble. There are added costs for every perk to the gaming experience – whether it be Sony, MS or Nintendo. One person’s light-gun perk is another persons MP perk.

Not every needs XBL. Not everyone needs wireless. No one needs HD-DVD and never did since you can get HD from the XBL Market place. I still contend that you get what you pay for. I play on PSN and thing it is a pile of crap. It feels tacked on, I don't like the ideal of Sony controlling my games servers, and I still don't believe the "free forever" line. Why? Because money for R&D has to come from somewhere. I can't see Sony footing the bill for online forever. Also, having another area where they are bleeding money isn't going to help them get into the green anytime soon since, ya know, servers arn't free.

But hey, lets add all that crap to the Xbox, fool ourselves into thinking it's needed, and stroke are egos while we laugh at the "inferior product."

I like it. Too bad I dont need a new one yet.

I don't really care for this exclusive package. I am though going to get the 80GB package for $500 bucks.

I plan to get the $400 non-bundled system, plus the $60 game, and save $40. Am I the only one?

Well if you want the DS3 too, then you save about $10 with the bundle.

Theres a normal bundle with 80 gig and mgs4 for 500, u should look into that

I dont see where they stated this was going to be a 80gb, i clearly see them saying 40gb.

I looks sweet, pretty expensive, but then again its very limited and for the hardcore fans. If i had the money, i would buy it, its looks sweet.

Yeah, you're right. I guess I had already made up my mind about it and the color looks incredible. But it's all good in the hood!

I was actually thinking of getting this just because of the color, but now... no. I'm not going to jump through hops for a new color. I hate ordering games and such off the internet. Ordering a whole system would be nerve-wrecking for me.

Agreed, I am considering getting the $500 bundle and selling my 40gigglebyte version.

DOO IT! this would be my first PS3. i was waiting until MGS4, blu-ray's victory, and the Dualshock. now is the perfect time for me.
