Electronic Arts has finally revealed the fruits of its recent partnership with board game evangelist Hasbro, announcing Hasbro Family Game Night, a collection of classic board games for the Wii and PlayStation 2. Shipping this fall, the game will include a wide assortment of Hasbro properties -- six in all -- from Battleship, Yahtzee, Boggle, and Connect Four to Sorry! and its more recent incarnation in Sorry! Sliders.
Purists will be happy to know that they'll be able to play the classic games as they remember, though EA notes that new versions will also be included as well for those looking for a different way to play. In addition, the collection will let players build and decorate a virtual game room, earn trophies, and play various mini-games once they tire of sinking each other's battleships. However, even with support for between two and four players, we doubt the compilation will have us tossing out our boxed favorites just yet, though at least with this game we know we'll never have to go searching though couch cushions for missing pieces before we can play.

My woman and I would have a field day with this.
"Cover your eyes! Don't cheat! Stop looking!...
... I'm not playing with you anymore!"
Last time we played monopoly we argued so hard we never touched the game again. That was almost 2 years ago. Man I miss playing as the shoe.
Good times.

It's not that bad an idea though. If you must make mini game collections, might as well stick to the classics. I don't really think we're the target market for this, but these games were fun back in the day.

I'd be more interested if they'd confirmed online play for the Wii version. As it stands, "meh".

If this is like $20 I don't see a problem with titles like this. And, yeah, the graphics aren't advanced or anything, but at least everything looks nice and clean.
I wish XBLA could get some board games like this. Why more haven't been released is a mystery to me considering the popularity of Uno.

This is true.
My one regret from childhood is that I hardly ever could get people to play Connect Four with me unless they were my grandma.
any other game, sure...but Connect Four? Nope. It's like everyone hated it but me!
OH GOD I NEED TO CALL MY THERAPIST NOW!

Como what?!! How could they not want to play it? So many ways to win. In my house and with my family Connect 4 rules. Everyone likes to play it, along with Monopoly, Scrabble, and of course...MEXICAN BINGO aka Loteria :P

I don't own the console, but the 360 has Carcassonne, Lost Cities and Settlers of Catan which strikes me as a far better offering of board games than the simplistic Connect 4 or Sorry!

My 5 & 7 year olds have some trouble with those board games on the 360. And VP Party Animals doesn't cut it, they were bored with it after a few weeks. But this collection looks good, but not for the 360.

Yeah, god forbid they release any games that interest a more casual audience and not you.
What a bunch of jerks they are. Screw their target audience! All their games should be made specifically for you to enjoy.

Where did I say "Fuck you EA for making a game which i won't buy?"
Ah yes, thats right, I didn't. No, I say Fuck EA for the inevitable crap they're going to put out with this product which will quickly be followed up by more iterations of the same crap.
You say "All their games should be made specifically for you to enjoy" and of course that's rubbish. But their games should be made for SOMEONE to enjoy and not just as an attempt to milk the customer teeth with shoddy work.
But don't worry about it, i like setting up straw-man fallacies too. It's just unfortunate that you got called on your BS this time.

No, see, there's your problem. To you, this is crap. To a lot of people, this is a product they'll purchase and likely enjoy quite a bit. Saying 'Fuck EA' for publishing a collection of board games people can play on their game systems is just ridiculous.
But hey, whatever. I won't buy it, but I understand that I'm not the target audience for something like this. And I'm done with this discussion.

It's called honesty, folks.. just don't peek, you're only going to ruin the fun.
In Canada, we were able to recieve each these in PC version free in a box of Lucky Charms cereal.
Bring on the annoying cut-scenes!
