Normally we'd take a rumor like this gently by the hand, walk it outside of the house, and then run back in while locking the door behind us. However, there is some historic rational for this piece of gossip. In their Rykten (i.e. Rumor) section, Swedish magazine Game Reactor said Sega is looking to remake Shenmue I and II on the Nintendo Wii with – surprise! – extra Wiimote-related minigames. (You can view the scan here.)
Sega has been reviving quite a few franchises on the Wii lately, including NiGHTS, Sega Bass Fishing, Samba de Amigo and House of the Dead. Still, there isn't much traction for this rumor, so for now it's just a lead pipe dream.

I would totally play Shenmue again on the Wii! Maybe MS could get Sega to adapt a Shenmue port to launch alongside the upcoming secret "newton" waggle input device?
I just can't wait to see Fuku San again.

You can pick up an Xbox, Shenmue 2, Dreamcast, and Shenmue all for the same price as this would be and an extra controller for Wii.

So you're saying a Wii is just an Xbox and a Dreamcast duct-taped together? Problem is you can't also play Z:TP, SMG, MP3, SSBB, MKW, Z&W, or myriad of other new and exciting acronyms on either of those dead systems.

y'know, it's really NOT that hard to get one. check the BestBuy/CircuitCity/Target weekly ads online after midnight on Saturdays and get your butt in line early before store opening. Guaranteed success if you get there 6am or earlier. I got mine on launch day, and since then I've managed to get my hands on 5 other ones that I've sold for a profit on CraigsList in the Chicago area.
other than that, I've also gotten one just on pure chance shopping at BestBuy. you can also call BestBuy/CircuitCity constantly during the day to see if they've gotten any UPS shipments and run over there quickly before they sell out....

The NDF is going to crucify you for it, even though it leans more towards truth than not. Still, good luck

While Capcom may be the best at iterating franchises, Sega certainly takes the cake when it comes to releasing identical games. Just look at the Virtual Console if you don't believe me.
But while we're bringing back DC franchises, how about some Skies of Arcadia, huh?

Personally, I'd prefer a Virtua Cop collection, preferably remade, but I'll take ports. Or a new Daytona USA game. Or a new Fighters Megamix. Maybe even a new Winter Heat, that'd be cool.
There are plenty of better games more deserving of the Wii treatment. That's not to say Shenmue is no good, I'd just prefer other those other games, you know.

I played Shenmue until the part where i had to do multiple days of actual work (forklifting)
That was the end of my "game"... since i had just left work to play a video game, i didnt feel like doing more work

Ignoring the "lucky hit" and "sailor" jokes, this would seem to make sense. After all, the first Shenmue was very expensive to make for the time and neither game did particularly well, so it would make sense for SEGA to want to double dip into the game's fanbase with a quick and cheap port - and being on the Wii gives them an excuse not to upgrade the graphics nearly as significantly as would be required in a 360 or PS3 port.

I would buy this in a heartbeat. Hopefully - if this does indeed ring true - this will pave the way for Shenmue III (anyone who played Shenmue II on the DC/Xbox will know what I mean regarding its rather open ended epilogue).

Nice one. I only played a bit on Shenmue 1 before my DC packed in. I'd buy this in a heartbeat, or second depending on my resting heart rate and the availability of the game.

People talk about how innovative Grand Theft Auto 3 was for its open-ended environment, but Shenmue really was mind blowing for its time. Just like GTA you could go around doing whatever you wanted to, but unlike GTA, the story was compelling and you had a reason to want to advance in the campaign.
Anyway, I always thought that if I got rich, not $1 million, but like $100 million, I would give around $5 million to Suzuki to start working on Shenmue 3.
Then maybe I'll help out those starving children in Africa.

I would love this game on the Wii (or any other system actually).
My DC copy would always freeze at a certain point so I never finished it. I was getting into the game as well.
As long as were bringing back old DC games I would love to see Chu Chu (Choo Choo?) Rocket and Powerstone 2 remakes.

Fantastic. GTA IV just didn't have enough boring day-to-day stuff in it. Forget having to go out on dates (and man dates) all the time, now you can do your laundry and make your bed too.
