EA deadline for Take-Two passes quietly
Wire service AFP reports that last night's deadline for Take-Two shareholders to agree to EA's takeover bid passed without a peep from either side. Take-Two commented earlier Friday saying that the issue "is in [EA's] court." EA would not comment on the situation.
In non-business news, the AFP could've probably used an editor on staff who plays video games while reporting this story. Forget the semi-understandable error that it called GTA IV, a game with one of the best retail launches of all time, Grand Theft Auto IV: Liberty City Stories. Focus more on the fact that the AFP in reporting about GTA IV says, "Players score points with acts such as carjacking and killing prostitutes or police officers." Looks like Rep. Lee Terry and the AFP are getting their info from the same source.

The closer EA gets to Take Two, the closer we'll get to EA draining the life out of the GTA name, trashing all its credibility, and killing off the franchise. It's the EA way!
That can only be a good thing.

I'm not intentionally bashing every post you make, but you talk so much bullshit.
I don't see what it is you have against success. So what if you don't like GTA? Millions of people, including myself, do like it and are more than happy to hand over money for a game that has such amazing production values.
I guess we're all just 'base'.

Awwwwww, my heart bleeds :)
Oh dear, I was kinda looking forward to playing a bug plagued, rubbishy storyline, repeat of GTA4, fifa street looking characters version of GTA :( Wheather it was Vice City or GTA5.

Better hurry up and buy that copy of GTAIV without the EA logo on the box or load up screen kids.
GenBanks @ May 17th 2008 11:55AM
I hate it when people confidently talk about how you 'score points' in GTA IV! It always makes me feel like reaching through the television screen and- oh wait, never mind.

Dude that AFP reporter knows shit all, a Wal-Mart clerk knows more, in fact I heard one the other day explain to a fat kid's mother it's to mature for him but didn't say anything aboot scoring points for carjacking, killing cops, prostitutes, etc. Looks like the main stream press has a long way to go in terms of accuracy.
754Boy @ May 17th 2008 12:29PM
Yay, screw EA!!!
Benny @ May 17th 2008 12:39PM
I'm sure EA will be back. Unfortunately.

As someone who is wanting to be a journalist some day I thought the base rule was to be non-biased AND accurate. I am seeing a helluva lot of people breaking that in news these days. I can forgive sensationalist media like Fox News (some times) but I am getting sick up people adding opinions or something that isn't true into articles. The writers of these articles are journalists. Do some damn better research. Sorry about my slight tangent there.

Does the business world work on weekends?
Maybe we'll hear on moday "EA bought all the shares directly from the shareholders, T2 now part of EA"
Squirrel3D @ May 17th 2008 5:47PM
And the struggle of EA trying to crash this videogame industry contuines....

Have a little faith!
Take-Two is just making EA run the extra mile, making it think that they actually have a chance in hell by focusing their efforts on the purchase, while Take Two just takes all of its time, for the benefit of the industry as a whole. XD

Hold strong Take Two, Hold strong...

just because 100% of the shareholders aren't jumping, doesn't mean EA hasn't got any. All they have to do is get enough, which should eventually happen if they give it enough time and cash.
