This isn't a character I want to play, just a character I want to beat up, over and over again. Slippy Toad. Maybe a powerup that turns your opponent into Slippy for a little while. All he would have to do is run back and forth with his arms up and flailing kermit style while he screams lines from Starfox 64. With him unable to attack, you are free to pummel him until he dies.

He starred in the one of the best platformers on the Mega Drive. The game had some of the best physics ever seen, not topped until Half Life came out on the PC.
But as a character, Puggsy was pretty dry. An orange sack with legs. That's about it for description. So for obscureness and genericness he'd probably fit the reject department.
But he was pretty cool, though. He wore sunglasses and sneakers. And he fought giant pirate parrots, and everything.
