Independent developer High Voltage Studios has released the first gameplay trailer for
The Conduit, a first-person shooter for the Wii with an
impressive game engine behind it. As for the new trailer, we don't see the water and shadow effects that initially piqued our interest. Instead, we see a science fiction shooter reminiscent of
Perfect Dark, Starship Troopers or
Halo with solid, but not spectacular, visuals.
The Conduit currently doesn't have a publisher. Compared to what
does get published on the Wii, that's a shame someone hasn't jumped on this yet. Given the Wii landscape is a bit devoid of quality FPS, we're curious to see how the game progresses. We just don't want to get too caught up in hype, especially after Wii shooter
Red Steel ended up
drowning in it.

Now I am not one to get excited over the promise of multiplayer on the Wii, but if done right, this could be a huge title.
I'm more interested in Mad World regarding the Wii - looks kind of slick

The PS3's motion controls suck. Does that make it not next-gen?
The Xbox 360 has nothing new other than improved graphics and LIVE support- does that make it not next-gen?
The most "next-gen" console out right now is the Wii, only it's plagued by mostly lack-luster games.
see? not just a marketing buzzword.
now whether you care about that, don't care about that, flip out and slice of heads and play killer guitar riffs if someone points that out, well, as usual, it's up to you.
It still needs a lot of work... the finished product will look a lot better.
Metroid Prime 3 looks a lot better.

Now THATS what I'm fricken talking about Wii! I've been waiting to see the Wii pushed and hey it looks great. It would probably be just another generic shooter if it were on 360 or PS3 but I'm not too sure since its on Wii and it should be a good experience. *Might be my 3rd Wii title :) Why has nobody picked this up for publishing yet?
Didn't Matt post a blog about them having grabbed a publisher already too??
It's a small and independet studio, and hope other studios follow this trend and start creating more games like this. Just like Platinum games. Mad World looks very good too.

But I looked up and saw it was on Wii, and my mindset changed.
Looks impressive :) I like the arm gun, anywho, I'll be sure to pick this up ^^ Haven't played an FPS on Wii since Metroid :)

And sad for anything else.
Which is sad in and of itself, no?
While the Wii is a weaker system it's nice to see some devs putting some effort forth for those of us who appreciate visuals in a game as a part of the experience.
It just reminded me of Timesplitters or something.
God I miss that game :(
It's hard to be impressed after all of the great FPSs we've been having lately. That said, I AM somewhat interested.
slightly of half life (setting - underground secret scientific base, weapons - arm cannon that tracks, spas 12, enemies - alien bug thingies and government soldiers, etc) which is a great thing for any shooter do, and after all it is early.

I doubt a 1 min vid can give you a 100% insight into the game.
Contrast that with the trailers from Madworld, No More Heroes, and World of Goo, just to name a few, and its not hard to discern which games are innovative and which games are not.
That sad, its not all doom and gloomm for High Voltage. I can't wait for Animals de la Muerta. That game, will certainly be a first in terms of the setting and story.
Don't you know human have existed far to long for any of us to have an original thought ... Everything has already been done in terms of storytelling ... You can have a bit of a different twist on a classic narrative but it will never be new ...
Nevertheless, we can all see a clear difference between something as similar as Call of Duty 4 to say, Call of Duty 3. We're all working on the same pallet here, the thing is, some people paint with acrylics, some people paint with poop.

One of the gripes I've had with Wii FPS is that you need to choose which hand to maneuver your character with and which hand to aim your weapon with. I'm left handed and like to aim with my strong hand but its hard when everything is separate, this took a little getting use to. If they push out games like this with solid controls and upgrade the online play(add voice chat and nix the game codes and just offer a profile or something else) and you've got a winner

There are very few Wii titles that actually control better with the Wii mote than the gamecube or classic controller ... Everyone (myself included) thought Okami would control perfect for the Wii but it was clunky and poorly implemented ... The game looks very fun especially for a Wii game ... Even if the graphics are nothing special games like this need to be more of the norm and you might see a change of attitude towards the Wii ... I would take it more serious if it had games that appealed to me other than Ports and Mario & Company
I know you are but what am I?
See I can also act like a 12 year old!
Heaven forbid someone have a differing opinion
