Ted Nugent confirms his appearance in Guitar Hero IV on talk radio show
For a game subtitled "Legends of Rock", Guitar Hero III didn't feature that many real-life six-string virtuosos. Sure, you had Rage's Tom Morello, GnR's Slash and a brief cameo by VH1's latest lothario, Poison frontman Bret Michaels -- but many classic rock aficionados who tried their hand at Activision's shredding simulator were left unsatisfied in terms of quantity (and in the minds of those belonging to the churches of Hendrix and Clapton, quality).
Until now, we've yet to hear anything about the roster for the next legit entry in Activision's golden goose franchise (no, we're not nor will we ever count Guitar Hero: Aerosmith), however, that silence was recently broken by the whistle of a flaming arrow through the night air, fired from the heavenly compound bow of the Motor City Madman himself, Ted Nugent. Listen to his radio interview on Detroit's WRIF (about 12:30 in), where he uses all manner of colorful language to describe the mocap process. Now, if they could only get the rest of the Damn Yankees involved, it would definitely ensure a purchase on our end. How 'bout it, Blades?
[Thanks, Tyler.]

I was gonna say, "who the fuck is Ted Nugent", but that'd be too easy.
He reminds me of Cockmongler.
Kyattsuai @ May 18th 2008 1:07PM
He's that guy who looks like Gee Whiz.
Fernando Rocker @ May 18th 2008 12:09PM
Cat Scratch Fever... one of the first albums I remember listening with my dad, like 18 years ago (I was like 6 years old)
I still play the record ocasionally. Good memories.
Daimyo Nintendo @ May 18th 2008 12:14PM
Ah Ted.... I saw him once, opening for KISS and all he was singing and yelling about was pussy. "I am gonna lick some pussy!" "Who wants some pussy?" God I love that guy.
DBuck_Eye @ May 18th 2008 12:14PM
What is with all of the Aerosmith hate? They are one of my favorite bands and and they sure as hell have some good guitar parts in their songs.
copa @ May 18th 2008 12:44PM
Aerosmith is good.
I think a lot of people question whether Aerosmith is worth building the entire next Guitar Hero game around, or whether GH:Aerosmith is just emblematic of Activision throwing out as many quickie sequels as they can until people get sick of Guitar Hero and stop buying it.
Hafk @ May 18th 2008 2:47PM
Everyone bashes GH:A.
It has the White Stripes.
How can it be bad?
Lord Bowser @ May 18th 2008 12:16PM
"He is noted for his conservative political views and his vocal pro-hunting and Second Amendment activism."
What is up with all these rockers being house in the valley hillbillies.
SWAT Kats are back! @ May 18th 2008 12:45PM
Ted's more the exception than the rule, unless you start getting into that Country Rock crap
Besides, the guy loves Crossbows, what's unhealthy about a little obsession with Crossbows?
DemonGSides @ May 18th 2008 12:48PM
How is liking guns and being pro-second amendment hillbilly? I'd consider myself the farthest thing from a hillbilly/redneck/hick and I believe in our right to bear arms and arm bears and anything inbetween.
Fernando Rocker @ May 18th 2008 1:09PM
In real life, guns sucks. Not in videogames.
Knight Marquise @ May 18th 2008 1:44PM
What's up with the ignorant fucktards who can't appreciate the second amendment to the consitution, have some type of liberal limp wristed bias against hunting and generalize anything that extrudes testosterone as "hillbilly"?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Fernando...anyone who enjoys guns in video games, and yet can still cling to the bullshit lie that guns are somehow evil, needs a reality check.
why not the LS2LS7? @ May 18th 2008 1:49PM
What's with the gun nuts who somehow think it's invalid to hold the opposing opinion to them?
I didn't hear anyone one here talking of repealing the 2nd ammendment, they just are just indicating they don't like guns. Is that an invalid position to hold?
Obie @ May 18th 2008 1:57PM
Shooting guns at a gun range is fun, but I don't care about shooting animals...hardly a fair game.
And I don't keep any guns in my house, still those who do..more power to em.
Zeus.:God @ May 18th 2008 4:54PM
Guns in general is fun. Hunting for sport- disgusting... Hunting for food... Fun.
Lord Bowser, I'm getting quite sick of you comment.
xGeneral DEATHx @ May 19th 2008 8:20AM
Not everyone who owns/shoots guns is some super right-wing redneck mouth-breather. Some of us collect them as a hobby. I myself like to take them to the range every now and then, although I don't hunt (hardly "sporting"). Ted Nugent is one of the more outspoken anti-gun-control figureheads, and although I agree with him on some points, I'd hardly say he represents the vast majority of gun owners. Do me a favor: Don't label every gun owner as a hillbilly, and we gun owners won't label you as a limp-wristed hippie. Deal?
Roto13 @ May 18th 2008 12:42PM
"Rage's Tom Morello"
To paraphrase Yahtzee, if he's a legend of rock, a grilled cheese sandwich is haute cuisine.
thomashenwood @ May 18th 2008 2:45PM
But he is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, legendary or not.
Kizzle @ May 19th 2008 1:50AM
Tom Morello isn't even in the top fifty greatest guitarists of all time. Don't be a retard.
tifosiotaku @ May 18th 2008 12:52PM
I also heard that in a guitar magazine interview, Joe Satriani let it slip that he will have songs in future Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. Whoever has "Surfing With The Alien" wins game of the forever honors. ^_^
Hafk @ May 18th 2008 2:49PM
The other song he said was Satch Boogie.
So nobody wins. Its an automatic draw. Because I fucking love both of those songs.
tifosiotaku @ May 18th 2008 5:35PM
Okay, then, the first game to get all of the songs from "The Extremist" and/or "Flying In A Blue Dream" win the "game of the forever" title, then. :-)
Pimliconite @ May 18th 2008 1:13PM
Batshit survivalist Ted Nugent?? I demand that his venue be a bomb shelter!
leobebes @ May 19th 2008 1:07PM
“If you don’t speak English, get the fuck out my country!”
Yea this man should be someone we all look up to. He also sports the Confederate Flag as a symbol of defiance. He sports it as a historical symbol for those who were told to change their way of life (slavery) south of the Mason Dixon line by the North. How defiant of him.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 18th 2008 2:25PM
I agree with him in the sense that if you're coming to this country, you should at least learn english. I don't care if you speak spanish or whatever at home or in your circle, but it's kinda fucked up that I have to learn another language to live in my country (which has been primarily english speaking since the start) for other people who are just too lazy to learn it. I would guess if I went to a country like france or germany and forced the majority of them to learn english they would just hate us more.
As for the confederate flag and slavery stuff, yeah that is pretty fucked up but the nuge is a pretty big hillbilly so it makes sense.
The Sound @ May 18th 2008 5:47PM
You don't understand the whole Confederate flag thing. Southerners fly it and carry it as a sign of being from the south, and has absolutely nothing to do with Slavery.
It's a sign of Southern Pride. And believe it or not, more people supported the South because of other reasons that were not slavery, as less than 1/4 of people actually owned or used slaves. Robert E. Lee, great American general took the side of the South because he had Southern Nationalism, and did not own any slaves.
Leobebes @ May 19th 2008 1:12PM
Well then how serious is he when he says "get the fuck out of the county?"
Last time I checked the Constitution doesn't say anything about learning english or GTFO?
Double J @ May 18th 2008 1:59PM
Oh for the love of Gee Wiz let his track be Stranglehold. That would be f'ing awesome.
Shagittarius @ May 18th 2008 11:41PM
Stranglehold, Free for All, or Wang Dang could get me to buy GH again. I'm betting it will be the borefest 'Cat Scratch Fever' though.
Knight Marquise @ May 18th 2008 2:08PM
Ls21whatever...
The fact that your stance and comment doesn't surprise me in the least, figures.
I always find it interesting that, more often then not, limp wristed liberals refer to second amendment supporters as "gun nuts" which makes about as much sense as calling a 1st amendment supporter a "free speech nut". Go figure.
why not the LS2LS7? @ May 18th 2008 7:28PM
When you don't like what someone says, you start applying attributes to them that they haven't earned?
Grow up.
When you stop portraying those against you with a broad and insulting brush, maybe you can understand both sides of an argument and then begin to make cohesive arguments.
Nick the Hero of Canton @ May 18th 2008 2:25PM
Ted Nugent called, he wants his shirt back.
chez @ May 18th 2008 2:34PM

Dralzz @ May 18th 2008 2:36PM
Meh. We need Yngwie Malmsteen. Now THAT would be a REAL boss battle.

xGeneral DEATHx @ May 19th 2008 8:24AM
Don't forget the huge hair and the drunken rants on airplanes.
king_zilch @ May 18th 2008 3:39PM
There is nothing inherently wrong with guns, in and of themselves. Having said that:
1. I have yet to meet a gun owner who doesn't fetishize his guns; he'll take them out and lovingly fondle every nook and cranny with an intimacy that they could never show a woman.
2. The second amendment was intended to provide for the defense of the United States, not for unrestricted gun ownership. Remember the "well-regulated militia" part? That means if King George comes to "reclaim the colonies," you can have at him. Otherwise, you don't need those armor-piercing cop-killer bullets.
3. Ted Nugent had one half-decent song and has spent the last thirty years coasting on his appeal to illiterate right-wingers. He stays (barely) on the media radar by worming his way onto talk radio, making deliberately inflammatory comments about people like Kurt Cobain or Hilary Clinton, and by releasing animal-snuff films under the guise of "bowhunting instruction." If he's a legend of rock, so are the New Monkees.
mmxzero @ May 19th 2008 2:10AM
Wow, just wow. How do the comments always deviate to this here. Oh and how is Nugent NOT considered a legend of rock, seriously, but I guess your general hate for him explains that.
Cian @ May 18th 2008 4:39PM
*Ignores entire conversation going on*
I could care less if they have a 'rock legend' in the game...
What I want are decent note charts, some good art direction, and a good set-list.
C.A. @ May 18th 2008 5:19PM
I got you in a stranglehold baby, and now I'll crush your face!
raptorspike @ May 18th 2008 7:06PM
HOLY CRAP!! Uncle Ted comes to the GH games!!! Activision, you just sold another $50 game to me
Benjamin Breeg @ May 18th 2008 8:24PM

That is a horrible, horrible list. Tom Morello and Bret Michaels shouldn't have even been anywhere near it, and of all the guitarists in the game, you picked Slash as a virtuoso?
But if the only reason you said those 3 is because they make actual, personal appearances in the game, then you should have worded it muh differently or done a wee bit of research to find out what other guitarists are in the game (songwise).
BeeBee890 @ May 18th 2008 8:32PM
Obviously that's just a list of people who were physically featured in the game, not a list of the best guitarists in the game.
But I agree, they should have said something like "featured in-person appearance" rather than just "featured."
bluezy @ May 18th 2008 11:19PM
Shoutout to WRIF, i listen to them every morning!
Jared @ May 19th 2008 10:59AM
OH FRED BEAR!
Jared @ May 19th 2008 11:03AM
"If I Could Fly" and "Summer Song" would be awesome.
Benjamin Breeg @ May 23rd 2008 11:59PM
Ted Nugent and now Travis Barker?
They're definitely surpassing Guitar Hero 3's Tom Morello and Bret Michaels as far as featuring no talent assfucks goes. Who the fuck is next, the "vocalist" from Cannibal Corpse?
