Joystiq primer: Age of Conan
Tomorrow marks the release of Funcom's Age of Conan for PC, an MMO with enough pre-release hype to actually create a blip on the map so long dominated by World of Warcraft. In case you need a introduction to the M-rated online adventure, we've compiled a list of impressions and guides that you can peruse after the break. (Big thanks to Massively and BigDownload.)

Shouldn't it be Age of Conan: a premier?

For lack of better new titles on PC lately, I might actually get this... must resist though, and wait for reviews.

You also gotta find out whether it'll be worth the subscription fee. I've been considering this one though.. long time player of Guild Wars but with new content only appearing in new campaigns and the expansion pack i've been looking for another MMO to recreate the nostalgia I have for the 'old days of GW'

I have a level 23 Tempest of Set right now and I have to say I'm really enjoying this game a lot. Plus, the graphics are pretty damn good too.
For the curious, you can try and score a buddy key from someone as they are included with the collector's edition (and I think 1 is included with the regular version).
theturtle363 @ May 19th 2008 7:22PM
hey dude can i have a buddy key?

I have a review of my 2 days in the early start compared to my time in closed beta, the game is greatly improved and has won me over enough for me to pick up my preorder and give this game a good run:

Here's to hoping the official launch tomorrow goes as smooth as the early start did!

I'm also enjoying the game in the Early Access, it lives up to a lot of the hype so far.

I was a closed beta tester and this game is running so much better then the beta client. I am playing with 2 other friends right now and the FFA of pvp is too hard to resist, we rock a nice death-march. I hope tomorrow goes well, early access has been super smooth.

30gb of hard drive space? wow.
pwnetheus @ May 19th 2008 11:56PM
Can't wait to get this. It should hold me over until WarHammer comes out this fall.(hopefully)

Well, when you get bored of "Dark Age of Camelot 2: Lite Edition, featuring Warhammer" we'll welcome you back with open, consoling, arms.

The game is incredible, to bad I don't want to pay the monthy fee. Tried it out at a friends house who is in the early launch. I'll keep playing Guild Wars until Guild Wars 2 releases.
Anticrawl @ May 20th 2008 12:36AM
Also Age of Conan here 10 dollars off.

I'm sorry that you can't afford the monthly fee. Your missing out on a great game.
Its a shame the cost of buying 1 bottle of pop from a vending machine once every 3 days is not worth a good gaming experience to you, being part of a community, playing with friends and getting bug fixes/content updates.
Your basically paying on a monthly basis for your mini-expansion packs. Look at wow with its Patch 2.4, adding x instance, Patch 2.3 adding the temple of blah.

I don't drink soda, just tap water. I'm a poor gamer and I already pay for xbox live haha. Comes with the being a college student thing. It's eat or play games, not both.
Mojo @ May 20th 2008 9:50AM
I hear you, brother. I'm excited about this game, too, but moneys is moneys. Even if it is soda-equivalent
Felnor @ May 20th 2008 9:45AM
I just got on to play this morning. Never was in Beta or EA(Early Access) and I can tell you the game plays quite well. It took me a bit to figure out the combat but once you do(Only 5mins) you'll be making Blood Bath ala Enemy in no time.
