Nintendo bans Hitler from Mario Kart Wii

Looks like sein kampf just got a little härter. As if it wasn't bad enough that Hitler's Xbox Live account was banned for modding, he's now being excluded from Mario Kart Wii as well. As Nintendo Everything recently reported, those with the Mii license of "Hitler" attempting to log on to the game will receive a message that such user names are not allowed on the Nintendo Wi-Fi service.

While we support the move, we worry about the effect this will have on the completely hate-free "Li'l Hitler" (no relation to the full-size despot). The only thing he tries to completely eradicate from the globe is frowns.

You know, even with my spelling error, it brings up a point of Adolph being acceptable or not. It still draws a connection to "Adolf Hitler" when put with his likeness, and since it's misspelled it might not be filtered.

Yes, and that's exactly why when I got the Wii last xmas I named a Mii with black hair and a conspicuous mustache "Adolph".

Its not the same as the Palestinians for many reasons. The Palestinians initiated the war and have yet to stop attacks against the people of Israel. Every attempt on Israel's part to return some land has led to an increase in attacks. The Palestinians get aid money from Israel to try and give them a somewhat decent life. Israel allows Muslims to live amongst them, not just in the Gaza strip. Israel targets terrorist, not every Muslim in the area. So no its not the same, sorry.

The 'war' was instigated as soon as Israel took the Palestinian land, so no, Palestine did not start the war. If someone started living in your bedroom, but tried to give you a corner back, I'm sure you'd push for the rest.

Actually, the Jews have always lived in the area, have for just as long or longer then the Palestinians. There was a couple big waves of Jewish immigration, sprung by the presence of the holy temples. Due to Islam being a derivation of Judaism the sites are also holy sites for Muslims. Hence the sense of ownership from both sides. Anyway none of the land was stolen, it was fully paid for and the Jews immigrated legally. I don't see how its stolen land, the only land that was taken was after the Palestinians and neighboring Muslim states tried to remove the Jews and lost. A good example would be if the Mexicans currently inhabiting the US decided to take back the land they held way back when, loosing, and expecting to be allowed back in the US after, it doesn't work that way.

Though Hitler was a villain the fact Nintendo wont let a user use the name for politically correct reasons is shit, we should all be allowed to express our views even if others take offense, you can't make everyone happy and you shouldn't damn well try at the expense of free speech.

It's not like Nintendo is the only company doing things like this. Microsoft won't let you use an obscene gamertag iirc.
