You too can buy Drake's gun from Uncharted
There's plenty of game related memorabilia out there, but, as we'll tell anyone who'll listen, there's just not enough that you can use to protect your home from hemophiliac robbers. An airsoft version of Nathan Drake's gun from Uncharted, now on sale from King of Swords, is just such an item. One look at the all metal, BBs-hurtling-at-inches-per-second power of the replica should be enough to send all easy bleeders sprinting back towards the limited edition Castlevania stained glass window they broke in through.
As much as we like the idea though, we'd humbly suggest that, in the future, King of Swords make guns based on pieces that are in any way recognizable to friends without a few minutes of explanation from their ($170 poorer) owners. You know, like a key-shaped sword.

If they were going to make UNCHARTED fan items, they could've gone with a lot of other stuff from the game. Hell, I would've settled for the "OTTSEL" Scuba Gear(and maybe some t-shirts or vinyl stickers), a Francis Drake-styled leatherbound journal, or even a replica of the cursed golden statue. I know I buy a lot of useless shiz, but replica berettas are easier and cheaper to buy than this unrecognizable one. Truthfully, it's probably possible to legally buy a real M92F for that price.
BTW, I love that they used the old image of UNCHARTED with the "stereotype lesbian haircut" brunette Elena instead of the blonde. LOL XD
Ben @ May 19th 2008 1:04PM
This gun is rated T for Teen.
Leobebes @ May 19th 2008 1:05PM
Did this game even sell enough copies to warrant memorabilia? This game is mentioned on blogs like it sold over 3 million copies or something.
BananaBoat @ May 19th 2008 1:11PM
It basically sold to everyone that only has a PS3. I tried the demo and was pretty underwhelmed, so I'm not sure what the hype was all about. I don't think the sales figures reflected the hype machine that was behind this game at launch.
Why pay extra for this thing anyway when you can surely find the same airsoft pistol (a Beretta 92FS, or whatever modified number is listed above) for much less? It's not like it's shiny or anything...just has a wood grip...woot.
Mr.ESC @ May 19th 2008 1:33PM
Yeah,if you ask me a Resident evil themed gun would be more profitable.
Ben @ May 19th 2008 1:53PM
How many copies did Okami sell on the Playstation 2? About 300,000 according to wikipedia. It gets tons of attention.
Uncharted is a good game and deserves some attention.
BananaBoat @ May 19th 2008 7:38PM
Okami was actually a good game though, so it's lack of high sales was sad =/
On an unrelated note, I love hitting the nail on the head. Sorry SDF.
Leobebes @ May 19th 2008 8:01PM
Okami was different though. It presented an art style rarely seen in gaming. Uncharted was a Tomb Raider clone with a dude who got his clothes wet and fought like Marcus Fenix.
BananaBoat @ May 19th 2008 10:19PM
Agreed. Unfortunately, attacks on Uncharted are seemingly taken as attacks on the PS3 and everyone that owns one. Like saying that Uncharted is boring, means that you are saying the PS3 is a terrible machine (in twisted fanboy logic).
I'd sooner pay for a statue of the wolf (Amaterasu? I believe is how you spell her name) from Okami, than a cheap knockoff of the weakest weapon in a game noone will remember in a years time. Now I'm just beating a dead horse.
LaughingTarget @ May 19th 2008 1:05PM
Or you can get a real M92, but it would run you another $300.
FOXHOUND @ May 19th 2008 1:16PM
Sounds like a plan! I'll hunt for treasure in the back of someone's skull! pew pew! pew! :d
You know, on second thought from the earlier comment I made, this could *easily* be used by Jack Thompson as bad press.
"Vid'ya'games have become an outlet to violence. The kid starts out with a T or M rated game... then buys a prop weapon based upon the game... and then buys a real gun... and shoots up the place like that Castle Dingostein-3D game or whatever. Vid'ya'games are the devil, Bobby!"
xGeneral DEATHx @ May 19th 2008 1:21PM
It didn't even look like an M92F in the game, much less that background shot. Anyways, the real 92 is the way to go...or a Springfield XD Tactical; I recommend .45 ACP for treasure hunters.
LaughingTarget @ May 19th 2008 1:31PM
Ah, yes, the good, old XD. Though I would suggest a Makarov in the treasure hunting sense. Finding 45ACP rounds on South American drug lords is uncommon given the general use of Soviet designed ammo. The XD won't do much good when all you can find are 9x18 rounds and 7.62 rounds. Plus, you can get a good Mak for the same price as this replica.
xGeneral DEATHx @ May 19th 2008 2:13PM
Excellent point...so do you think I'd find many 7.62x54R rounds on these drug lords? ;-) It would be nice to bring the ol' Mosin-Nagant along for the ride, although truthfully it may end up just being dead weight once I see all the 7.62x39's laying around.
*Sigh*...you and your "logic", and "reasoning"...geez...
Baineblade @ May 19th 2008 1:15PM
Just as a point of reference, unless it fires plastic BBs it's not an airsoft weapon. Plus I can find twelve different models of the 92F Beretta. It's not that uncommon of a pistol. So yeah.
samfish @ May 19th 2008 1:30PM
AHH HA HA HA! *NOW* everyone will know how big my penis is with this!
Bellerophon @ May 19th 2008 1:34PM
Tokyo Marui did this before with the few guns from Resident Evil.
Corbo @ May 19th 2008 1:37PM
Wow, that's... pointless. I can just imagine trying to tell people what it is:
"Hey, guys, I got this cool new airsoft gun... yeah, it does look kind of like a normal gun... but it's got this little logo on the side that... no, other side... yeah, that's it. That's the logo from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. The PS3 game... Well, a lot of people HAVE heard of it and most of them think it's pretty good. I dunno, maybe somewhere around mumblemumblemumble dollars. If you didn't hear me the first time, I'm not repeating myself. Shut up."
And then everyone runs off to play Halo laser tag.
slee @ May 19th 2008 2:24PM
I would have just liked a belt buckle like drake if I could find one of those I would actually wear it!! Any one know where I can get one of those bad boys?
ScottG13 @ May 19th 2008 1:41PM
Clicking on this link, I thought it would actually be a real 92F. That'd be kind of cool with a modest upcharge for a nice case and such.
An airsoft gun? Sorry, I'm not 12.
ReverendKain @ May 19th 2008 1:43PM
Overpriced. I can't tell for lack of better info, but assuming it is what it says on the tin, it's just an Uncharted-branded version of HFC's copy of the one Resident Evil-themed Tokyo Marui M92, which you can pick up at most Airsoft specialty shops for $100-120.
DWells55 @ May 19th 2008 1:50PM
Yeah, it's just an overpriced ugly HFC. Not official in any way and doesn't even look like the gun in Uncharted based in the article picture.
Keith Baggs @ May 19th 2008 2:07PM
How about the Duel guns from Hitman with the logo on the handles? I would buy those.
MarkHawk @ May 19th 2008 2:26PM
Cool, but no lightsaber...
Though I imagine getting hit by this compared to a lightsaber replica would hurt much more.
Johannes Axner @ May 19th 2008 2:43PM
I like how that clearly is a (somewhat distorted) Pistolet Makarova in the picture from the game in the ad.
As mentioned before, Tokyo Marui has done this for ages with Biohazard/Resident Evil guns. Apparantly the japanese fanboys will pay ridiculous ammounts for anything labeled as limited edition.
Kspraydad @ May 19th 2008 3:05PM
I'd rather have Elena's panties.
What?
SWAT @ May 19th 2008 3:33PM
Pfft I fired a real Beretta.
dustandechoes91 @ May 19th 2008 4:00PM
wow how old is that picture? It has to be one of the first concept arts seeing as they changed the girl's(dana was it?) to blond right after they unveiled the game.
phreakindee @ May 19th 2008 4:02PM
this bothers me immensely, as the gun in uncharted is clearly a colt 1911.. not a beretta m92f..

Josh @ May 19th 2008 4:46PM
Drake uses a Makarov
Elena uses the M92
Jonathan @ May 19th 2008 5:34PM
yeah seriously
gamer1 @ May 19th 2008 6:11PM
What's cool about this gun, is that its a full metal gas blowback pistol that shoots full auto. That means that the metal slide will kick every time the trigger is pulled, and continuously fires if set to full auto. Because it is an airsoft gun, the clip will probably hold around 30 rounds, which is not bad, but the clip will empty in about 3 seconds on full auto.
Not only that, it sounds like the gun can take green gas or C02. I have a similar gun that uses green gas. Green gas bottles are not as easy to come by where I live, so I use propane. Because propane is smelly, the gun is best used outdoors. It looks like this gun can use CO2 though. That feature sounds attractive because CO2 is pretty much odorless and can be bought at Walmart for about 1 dollar per capsule, which should be good for about 100 rounds.
The price of this type of airsoft gun seems high though. You can easily find an all black "green gas" version of this gun for $100 with shipping included, or a semi-auto only version for $65 with shipping included. $170 before shipping for this gun is pricey, but at least it comes with a fancy case, wooden handle, CO2 compatibility, and is classified as Uncharted memorabilia, if you're into that.
I believe that all airsoft guns of this type are sold with a glued orange tip in the US for safety reasons, so I think the photo shown does not include the orange tip to keep it from looking tacky. At 320 fps, you should wear eye protection and not shoot this gun at people. Also, its best not to bring this gun out in public because if a cop sees you with it, you could get shot. For safety reasons, you should always treat these types of airsoft guns as if they were real firearms.
ZeroCorpse @ May 19th 2008 8:13PM
The orange tip is legally required in the USA, after too many cops shot down kids with toy guns.
bigd7387 @ May 20th 2008 1:10AM
This is why I sold my PS3. Sony's tag line "Most games will either be delayed or cancelled for our PS3 but to help out with your grief please use our new hand gun". To Hell with giving a gaming console games lets just shoot ourselves instead.
wickedpheonix @ May 20th 2008 7:41AM
Better piece of new memorabilia - and instantly recognizable, too: Indiana Jones Officially Licensed Fedora
http://www.thinkgeek.com/apparel/hats-ties/a67f/
and for $100 of that quality that's damn well worth it to me.
LaughingTarget @ May 20th 2008 12:27PM
Or just buy a brown fedora for $20. They can't lisence the design of a 100 year old hat, just slap the Indy name on it for $80 extra.
wickedpheonix @ May 20th 2008 9:07PM
@LaughingTarget
Even if you could get a similarly looking fedora with "100% Fur Felt" and "All leather sweatband" and "Hand made" and "satin lining" AND a "hat box" for $20, half of this stuff is psychological. Stuff is cool because we define it to be cool, and an Indiana Jones hat is waaayyy more cool than an ordinary fedora. So yeah, that $80 extra is pretty much so you can feel awesome.
