No Gun Metal Gray PS3 for U, K?

Konami has confirmed to Eurogamer that the UK will not be receiving the limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PlayStation 3 bundle. Not that many other people will be getting it either, mind you, as the Gun Metal Gray system is only available to Americans purchasing it through Konami's website. This is especially true considering the $599 asking price and the limited internet access provided within most asylums.

All European residents should be pleased to note that the "plain" Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle -- the one with the game, a black 40 gigger and a Sixaxis controller -- is still on track for a June 12th release at €439. It's not quite as fancy as the 80GB / Dual Shock 3 bundle in the US, but at least they all come with a pretty good game.

[Update: Several tipsters point to Play.com's "exclusive" listing of this very bundle. We're going to go with the publisher's word over a retailer listing, but we'll check with Konami again, just to be sure. Update 2: Konami has confirmed with us that the bundle will not be heading to the UK, calling the Play.com listing a "mistake."]

I wish there would be a *confirmation* post from Konami/Gamestop(or whomever)stating that the USA are going to get the 80GB bundle in addition to the reserveable 40GB on the Konami site. I still can't reserve a system at the local store yet... :\ Looks like taking 6/12 and 6/13 off was worth it afterall if I'm going to have to campout for it.

I'm kinda confused about the MGS4 bundles...

Are there "exclusive" ones and if so which are they? Does Gamestop have its own exclusive bundle. The only one I'm pretty sure about is the Konami one if I'm not mistaken. The "Gun Metal Grey" one. Also isn't Japan getting its own "exclusive MGS4" bundle?

I mean sony and its game bundles is one thing but now they have multiple types of bundles and it just seems really confusing to me.

The "Gun Metal Gray" is the limited edition bundle. Comes with a Gun metal 40giger, MGS4 LE, Gun metal DS3 for $599 and can only be purchased at Konami's website.

The other bundle is a plain black 80GB PS3, DS3, and regular MGS4 for $499.

So the better deal is a no brainer, but that Gun Metal Gray looks pretty sweet

Just stop it already Assassin ... Acting as if you are a confused little boy in regards to the PS3 bundles is incredibly idiotic ... Let me break it down for you real slow just incase you were actually interested in this bundle (as if)

there are two official bundles that will be available

1 from Konami is a limited edition Gun metal gray MGS 4 bundle (40 GB No BC) that includes one controller & the game for $599.99 only on the Konami site and has been rumored to only be available to the USA

The other bundle is a Sony bundle (ala the Motorstorm bundle) that will feature the game, a regular 80 GB BC PS3 and a DS3 controller

You'd need two HDMI ports if you want to do HDMI audio off of one port and HDMI video off of another. Most surround sound systems don't have the bandwidth to take uncompressed 7.1ch PCM concurrently with 1080p/30 video.

this makes sense from Sony's standpoint. Sony is beating the 360 in JPN and EU, so they need this type of thing in the US to continue to chip away at the 360 lead in US.

It certainly does suck for UK though, it seems like they always get the shaft

Sony isn't beating Microsoft in the EU. They're about on par. In the UK, however, the PS3 is far and wide the console of choice. It's this that makes me even more pissed off that Sony hates us extra-letter-usin' people :(

The PS3 is region free so it shouldn't be a problem to order one if you can get access to a pre-paid american credit card ... I love the color and MGS is my favorite franchise of all time but I wouldn't pony up that kind of fan tax for a 40 GB no BC PS3 even if it was gun metal gray

I'd only be using the backwards compatibility to play Guitar Hero 1 and 2 - and since the controllers for those don't work on any PS3, it would make it useless.

Nothing wrong with being a 'smart' fan. I'm a die-hard of the series as well, but eff paying extra for less stuff. If I want the system that colour, it isn't hard to take the shell off(or buy a skin for it from DecalGirl.com or something)and do it myself. 80GB-bundle all the way!
