Commenting on the "replica Uncharted gun," that we posted about yesterday, Sony has told Gamesindustry.biz that it is not officially endorsed and they certainly don't condone it. The gun is supposed to be a replica of Drake's weapon from the 2007 gem, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Without official licensing from Sony, however, selling it as such is just a sneaky attempt at cashing in on the game's success.
Sony has said that they are "investigating the source of this product and will proceed with the most appropriate action." Appropriate action, in this case, probably means letting loose their pack of half-starved, feral lawyers. So don't expect it to be around for too much longer.

Sony lawyers are always on the defensive from would-be copyright holders wanting a piece of Sony's pie. Nice to see them on the offensive for a change.

What could Sony's Lawyers do? It's a replica Beretta and last time I checked Sony doesn't own the copyrights to a Beretta so they can't stop them from selling it.
They can stop the site from stating it's the replica from drake's fortune but at this point the site is getting a lot of free exposure.

They can throw out a good old fashioned C&D (cease and desist order) to keep them in check until they force them to stop marketing it as an Uncharted gun. As others have said it's kinda pointless since Drake picks up plenty of guns during his fights, it's not like he has a signature pea shooter.

The problem is not that it's a Beretta.. it's that they used Uncharted's pics and what not saying it was a replica... so they can't do that without licensing it. So they gotta stop it. simple.
Beretta.. just like in a popular 2007 video game. --- No prob there :)

I wouldn't say it was a failure by any means. But "...cashing in the game's success" insinuates something much greater than anything the PS3's limited user base (at the time) could ever hope to achieve. That sounds like an outlandish statement Uwe Bol might say about any of his movies.

lol, it was clearly unofficial, the artwork has Elena pre-redesign.

well, it clearly looks fake. I mean just look at the grip, they did the wood backwards, and the tips of the guns look nothing alike.

See? Even Sony realises that thing could put an eye or two out! O_X

Copyright gone out of control. It's a Beretta replica, like the one in Drake. Why can't the company say so? They aren't infringing on anything Sony is producing. Simply ridiculous.
