Finally, after what seems like months of magazine scans confirming its existence, Activision just officially announced the next true installment in the Guitar Hero franchise (you don't count Aerosmith), originally dubbed Guitar Hero IV, will now officially be known as Guitar Hero World Tour.
As expected, World Tour will add singing and drum playing to the mix, featuring what they call the best drum set peripheral EVAR, a reworked guitar peripheral and Acti promising that all peripherals will be wireless as well. With features like a Band Career Mode, online integration and the ability to record and share music, Activision is also touting World Tour's track list which they admit will be the largest list of any GH game featuring bands like Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles and Sublime.
So, now that it's official and we have some concrete deets, do you think World Tour will give Rock Band some competition and will you be checking out World Tour later this year?

Rock Band won They took GH to the floor and beat the crap out of GH. Now we get a washed up has been begging for a rematch. If Rock Band keeps it up week after week with the new downloads full albums and new singles they have nothing to fear. GH's download content is weak and so few and far between it's not even a viable option anymore.

What will seal the deal for me is the pricing and if they are going to offer the drums and game seperately at launch. My best friend has rockband, so i play that whenever i want. I already have 2 GH guitars, and will be plenty pissed if it comes out and i have to buy a giant bundle with another guitar just to get the drums. Ill be willing to pay 60 for the game, and another 50-60 for the drums... reguardless i will preorder when it becomes available.

This game will DEFINITELY give rockband a run for its money, it is superior in many ways.

Im not going to make any major judgments at this point theres things that i am hoping for in this game for example I am hoping that the fret buttons wil be IN the fret board not on top but as of now Im not seeing anything about the game that turns me off from it it seems fun minus the rather gay soundtrack so far but I can by pass that i am going to play it at best buy or something before i fork out 150 plus dollars for it but I think it will be around the same fun factor as rock band and as far as the create a song feature goes I think it may be interesting but it probably wont be all its cracked up to be
