Except for the fact that RB expert mode = GH3 hard mode

Harmonix had a terrible soundtrack, basically because of the lack of heavy metal, and because all the songs were easier in RB guitar, which made it real boring. No challenge. If they really loved music, why was there barely any heavy metal?

GH3 even took care of the people that were too good at guitar. They put TTFAF, and The Devil Went Down To Georgia. For RB, they have Enter Sandman. I remember that being one of the only difficult songs.

Playing fake instruments was cool when you were racking up high scores on a Konami arcade machine. Owning fake instruments was cool when you were the only kid on the block to own Samba De Amigo shakers for the Dreamcast. But it's gone too far. Everyone and their mothers owns Guitar Hero. Rhythm games have lost all their underground coolness.

The part I hate most is people's illusion of being rockers. No, you're playing a toy guitar and drums. A TOY! Back in the day, there was no illusion of being a rocker. The cool part was because it was a quirky Japanese game that few people even knew about, and even fewer were good at.

What, so it's BAD that everyone knows about the rythmn genre and LOVES it? Oh, i'm sorry, i didn't realise that was so important, because your high score is at jeopardy now that more poeple play it. Go suck a log. I (like many others) am glad that this kinda reached such a status because it's a great game and competition is always great. If you don't want competition, then too bad, because these game encourage it, and you're just going to have to deal with it.

People here hate on the Wii for turning games "casual". So, why can't I hate Guitar Hero for turning rhythm games from hardcore to casual? It's the exact same thing. Anyone who supports Guitar Hero but hates on the Wii is a hypocrite.

If this has Battle of the Bands (as advertised), Rock Band has no excuse not to include it in an update.

First the DS commercial, now this... when did the Disney Channel kids take over Guitar Hero? I'm older than 15, this ad makes me think I should just stick to growing beards and buying M-rated shooters.

Fernando Rocker: There was a time when I would have agreed with you, but I gotta say that with me being as good as I am at Guitar Hero now I must say that GH3's harder difficulty is quite appealing There are times when Rock Band is, dare I say it, boring for me. Don't get me wrong, I love the party experience, especially the drums, but I do feel that the guitar parts are at times inferior to GH3.

It's not really that cool. Imagine MTV music studio with pre-canned sounds for each instrument for you to select from. plus you can not record vocals at all.

The drum set looks like its alot better then the Rock Band one but I don't have any more room for more fake instruments, especially another drum set.

Dear guitar hero,
Where do you get off? Just when I write you off, you make a very attractive looking package and suck me back in. Who do you think you are? If you haven't realized by now, I have nothing but positive things to say about your upcoming game.
P.S. I'm not buying another drum set, and guitar and DLC. You were too late. Rock Band ftw.

This only makes me want Rock Band 2. With new songs, stats screen & BAND VS./BWT mode online. They already nailed the gameplay.

I love how they start the trailer:

"The Guitar Hero experience... reinvented."

That's really funny-I thought that the Guitar Hero experience was reinvented in November 2007... when Rock Band started shipping...

Anybody else thing "Guitar Hero: World Tour" is just stealing "Band World Tour" mode from Rock Band? Personally I wish these companies would stop fighting on hardware (is Konami REALLY putting out different drum set with 6 hit pads?) and just make them all compatible. Gamers in the music genre would just buy all the games then. I guess they have to try and force their competitors out of business, which will end up each of them getting a smaller piece of the pie.

You have it all wrong CHAOS!!!!, we don't hate Guitar Hero, we just like Harmonix. The Activision devs are only a shadow of the Harmonix devs, and the constant game of catch-up they are playing is a testament to that.

um, for those of you who were bashing RB's lack of guitar difficulty, RB is meant to be more of a party game, not solo. That's why GH3 is much harder. It focuses ONLY on the guitar. RB has all four parts of a band, and have narrowed it to focus on that one intrument. Besides, what do you expect with GH: WT? That the guitar will be as hard, if not harder than before? because if so, it'll lose alot of customers

i dont get what everyone likes about these games? I went to my sisters friends house and played rock band for a couple hours and I was bored as hell. Of course its all they wanted to play, all people who dont play other video games.

My brother also owns GH3, and ive played that, but get bored after playing a couple songs. I mean the gameplay is the same thing over and over, and its just hitting the buttons at the right time. I would rather play a game with actual gameplay and just listen to music from my mp3 player/radio.

hey i just went to home depot and went to the tool section and strangely all the shells were covered with this video.

guitar hero sucks now
rockband is and always will be the shit

this is the saddest excuse of trying to make a more popular product. neversoft blows penis balls at making music games. metal sucks balls. guitarhero 3 nearly made me throughout all red octane related games but then i realized that harmonix made them to so i stoped.

JJ Rooster,

I don't think this is a knockoff attempt. If what they say is true, as in the expert mode being exactly how the real drummer plays the song on real-life drums, then this may actually help drummers learn to play their favorite songs on real drums. I think Activision has the right idea here.

I'm glad that they they made a statement that the controllers for this game will be in good quality. My wireless controller on GHIII for 360 has a few frustrating problems. I'm buying the big bundle since I need 2 guitars anyway.

I don't see why everyone complains about guitar hero coming out with drums. If you already have rock band. DONT BUY GUITAR HERO!! that simple. You don't have to whine about how your going to have to lose space and money for a second set of everything, when really, you don't HAVE to get it. I'm also sure if they didn't make the next game a little harder than the last one, no one would really take an interest to it, it will just be another list of songs. Also, the whole DLC thing, who cares how many songs you can download?? If you have to download songs every week, then the beginning playlist must've sucked, so they have to shoot out other songs to appease all their little "rockers" lol. Also, people who complain about people thinking they are rockers, they are playing a freakin video game, im sure they know they aren't really rocking out at a concert. Shut ur freaking mouths and stop complaining about everything.
