Infinite Undiscovery releasing worldwide on Sept. 2
Winner of Joystiq's prestigious 2007 Most Unusual Game Title award*, Xbox 360 exclusive Infinite Undiscovery has been slotted for a September 2 worldwide launch by publisher Square Enix. Company president and CEO John Yamamoto says the global debut "is something that we have aimed to do for a long time" and that Square Enix will "continue to deliver worldwide gaming experiences across all platforms well into the future."
Developed by tri-Ace (Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile), the action-RPG gets its wonky title from its chief gameplay mechanic: the gameworld is changed in real time by the player's every action and discovery -- or, er ... "infinite undiscoveries." According to Square, players will need to rely not only on their character's senses of sight and hearing while exploring the undiscoverable, but smell as well. We smell plenty of gameplay gimmicks, which Square hopes will "offer a variety of experiences, presented in a way never before seen in RPGs."
Undiscover new screens of the game in our gallery, which, due to server constraints, is unfortunately not infinite -- plus the new trailer after the break!

Hey its coming out on my B-day!!!
Hopefully I will have another 360 by then, this game does look unusual indeed.
yojimb0 @ May 21st 2008 4:44PM
this game looks really fun. i'm likely to put up with a lot of anime lameness for this one... looks awesome.
marauder800 @ May 21st 2008 4:50PM

yes... that's why you posted.
Ludwig Kietzmann @ May 21st 2008 4:50PM
"ARCHING BOOTS!"
"PEACOCK PLUME!"
That's quality voice acting, folks.
4.5 @ May 21st 2008 5:00PM
For some reason I read that as "ARCHING BOOBS" the first few times I saw it.
PeacefulOutrage @ May 27th 2008 11:28PM
Please let there be English subtitles for this game.. Lost Odyssey this is not..
Mischa @ May 21st 2008 6:53PM
No kidding. I just hope that when you see the summary for any of the boots in the game that let you do that ability, it'll say "these boots were made for arching".
sexycommando @ May 21st 2008 8:58PM
I really REALLY hope they allow for original Japanese voice with subtitles. Those English voice actors are horrible.
Mal F4cti0n @ May 21st 2008 11:25PM
I think it was Marching Boots. I got that because he stomped, or "marched" on the bad guys face.
I coulde be wrong though....
Korova @ May 21st 2008 4:51PM
That sounds like Civilization and fantastic costumes rolled into one. Could be good, I am excited!
4.5 @ May 21st 2008 4:55PM
This looks like a more mature Kingdom Hearts to me, it should be good.
Bleu @ May 21st 2008 7:20PM
I will wait for it to come to ps3.
ballistic @ May 21st 2008 4:55PM
... i was hoping for FF XIII graphics. but if this an indication of the graphics of what FF XIII will be like instead of the trailers seen i am a sad panda.
but point against it are the annoying and bad voice acting and the need to used said bad voice acting to do a hak foo and say what move you are doing.
eh it will be on my radar cause i like tri-ace games.
browntown @ May 21st 2008 4:55PM
Now where is the last remnant and FF13, common square enix.
4.5 @ May 21st 2008 4:58PM
Actually I don't think they are too common since we haven't seen much information about them...I would classify them as rare.
J.Goodwin @ May 21st 2008 6:20PM
This is a very good question. I never would have expected that Square of all people would be releasing a 360 RPG before they got their much ballyhooed PS3 charter franchises out the door.
Jack Spicer @ May 21st 2008 9:20PM
You do realize that there are different studios working on different projects, right? Tri-Ace is developing this game, the same people that made Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean. They've never had anything whatsoever to do with Final Fantasy, so stop your belly aching.
Kenology @ May 21st 2008 5:00PM
This looks really good. It's safe to say that Sakuraba is on board after hearing the trailer music - this dude has been spreading himself thin for the past 5 years. He just doesn't sleep.
JetEngineJesus @ May 21st 2008 5:00PM
Why do they always have to yell out the name of every attack they do? How many times can a man reasonably be expected to endure "ARCHING BOOTZ!!!!!" before he goes completely bonkers?
Jfk Aok @ May 21st 2008 5:22PM
Because if they didn't then the game wouldn't be as annoying. PAY ATTENTION!
no wait...wha?
Benny @ May 21st 2008 5:01PM
Well, the guy's lip-syncing is slightly better than Mariah Carey's.
3cubed (4squared plus 2squared) @ May 21st 2008 5:13PM
Kind of reminds me of Star Ocean. I like it.
Jack Spicer @ May 21st 2008 9:21PM
That's because its the same people making this one.
Jfk Aok @ May 21st 2008 5:20PM
Even a monkey can get lucky and tell a good story if you give it a type writer, a cigar and a funny hat. It just might have to try 100000 times. Why can't Square get so lucky?
I like how they essentially try to tell the same story over and over again...as if it just wasn't bad enough the first time they did it 20 years ago.
Sure, western developers can't tell a good story if their life depended on it either...but games like this relish in their ass-baggery. It's the main course...yummy.
It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times. BLURST of times!? Stupid Square!
Luis @ May 21st 2008 5:31PM
did I actually hear "Innuendo dive"?
Benny @ May 21st 2008 7:23PM
In your end I'll dive?
Tatticus @ May 21st 2008 10:53PM
In the end I'll die
Jonah Falcon @ May 21st 2008 5:31PM
Some of the kiddies don't know what dubbing is. The English language track hasn't been done yet - the Japanese version's been out for a while, and they're taking scenes from that version and dubbing the video (not the game itself.) Which is why you have the Japanese Monster Movie Dub - you'll notice their mouths are forming Japanese cadences.
The game is coming in September, not tomorrow. (rolling eyes)
Chase @ May 21st 2008 6:03PM
Like dubbed anime, dubbed games suck.
Benny @ May 21st 2008 7:09PM
Either way, a trailer is there to act as an advertisement for the game. Excuses for shitness doesn't make it any less shit.
Chase @ May 21st 2008 6:04PM
So, when will they release the Smell-o-drive peripheral?
GaryM @ May 21st 2008 6:47PM
Divine Divinity now has some serious competition for "Worst Game Title Ever."
Mischa @ May 21st 2008 7:06PM
It's good to see the RPG plot generator is in full swing yet again.
"In a world where mankind benefits from [power source], one man with [negative emotion] in his heart, tries to steal [power source]. Now, it's up to [1-12] hero[es], bound by [artifice] to stop him."
...yes I'm going to buy this game.
LeChuck @ May 21st 2008 7:27PM
It's probably easier to do a worldwide launch for a 360 exclusive, since they'll only need 5 for Japan. HA!
But seriously I hope this game is good. Don't know enough about it to form an opinion yet. It looks pretty at least.
Kujel @ May 21st 2008 7:40PM
I'm a little worried aboot this game, Japanese games in general have been disappointing me for some years now (with some exceptions of course).
RPGJock @ May 21st 2008 7:50PM
These comments are so funny. So most of you don't like or not are interested in a (another) JRPG. But developers are putting them out on the 360 with more effort than PS3 at this momment. So much so, that this game and Too Human is making me want a (cheaper) 360 now.
So it seems to me that X360 is on the right path because its making its core base go "meh" and making me go "hmmm"... Its attracting a different fan base than that of "Let me shoot your face off and cuss at you" crowd.
I am just saying...
Mal F4cti0n @ May 21st 2008 11:27PM
I actually haven't been a fan of any of the new Japanese games on the previous or current gen systems.
I like playing games where my skills matter, not hitting buttons to watch the pretty anime and flashing lights.
c.Lake @ May 27th 2008 10:47PM
Are they seriously going to make us believe that this game is ONLY come out on the 360? After how many years in development? And Square wonders why they are having trouble financially?
I don't believe it? It's coming to the PS3, because that would just be stupid if it didn't. Like throwing money away -- and NOBODY would do that.
