we're STILL posting FIRST in comment threads? Really kids? reeeeeeally???

20 bucks seems steep, and if there are more than three episodes (20x3=$60) I'm going to call "shenanigans." I'll still check it out though, I do love PA.

Why didn't anyone ask them why they criticize games for costing so much, and then price theirs as one of the most expensive?

It just seems like way too much for a game that's going to be in episodes.

I think they mentioned previously that they eventually want to release everything as a full game because that is how long it will be, as long as a full game so they broke it up in parts to market it better (make more money). Because at the end of the day they do want to make cash.

Well, we can complain about the cost of the game but the price is comparable to other episodic games that have been released.

Sam & Max - $10 for approximately 3-5 hours of play
Half-Life Eps 1 & 2 - $20 each
Sin - $20

I'm not going to knock them for pricing their game competitively. I'm sure it won't be $80 though if they ever release all 4 episodes at one time in the future.

I believe they meant games cost too much *to make*. This is a real trend -- even though the real-dollar cost of games is pretty constant (see http://www.westegg.com/inflation if you thought the games from your childhood were cheaper than today), the cost to make a single commercial title has been skyrocketing, and shows no signs of stopping.

This *does* hurt gamers -- publishers are less likely to green-light risky projects. Instead of investing $100k in 10 quirky games each, and cashing in when one of them does well, they spend $1M on a single big-name title that has guaranteed returns -- that's why you're seeing so many boxes with roman numerals on them these days.

Why don't you quit your bitching, play the demo and decide for yourself if you're willing to pay 20 bucks for it.

They're not putting a gun to your head and telling you to buy it.

If you can't afford it or the demo didn't do it for you.. then don't buy.

They're a business that is trying to make money to make more games. Is the pricing structure weird for an XBLA title? sure. is it unfair? no.. because it's the same price on every platform it's on.

Why don't you bitch about it being 20 bucks on PC, Mac and Linux?

Wow Jcarpio you are angry... and I didn't see anyone "bitching" ease up on the name calling there little shaver.
I just played the demo, it was lots of reading followed by the occasional push of the A button, followed by lots more reading, about ten minutes in there was a funny joke. I'm pretty disappointed, I was looking forward to this game, and the demo was a little lackluster. As far as the 20 dollar price point, I think they would sell twice as many if they charged half the price, meaning that more would buy the follow up stories as well, and it would get more press for their site, which = more money for them. So it is a shame they didn't charge less... I personally will have to take a pass.
