Killzone 2 delay a 'pure management decision'

Eagle points out that if Killzone 2 was released this fall, it would be the third shooter in the PS3 marketplace (joining SOCOM and Resistance 2) fighting for retail dollars, so the decision was made to push its release into the new year (how'd they decide which to delay -- flip a coin?). Eagle insists that "there is nothing wrong" with Killzone and the so-called delay is a "pure management decision." If holiday 2008 is anything like last year, our wallets are already thankful to the management for the breathing room.

Basically it's a meme as old as the internets themselves. The object of such a phrase, is to cut off the trolls and lamers that would actually make such a joke, thinking it's funny (Doesn't always have to be pre-empting a lame joke, but that is one of it's many functions). In this case, he is "in before 4.5" meaning "in before some douche makes a joke about Haze getting a score of 4.5, and Killzone 2 being next"

Honestly Speaking, i think after so many delays this is gonna go the same route Haze did... (i love my PS3 but i think this game was just replaced by Resistance.)

It's easily the best looking console game I've seen yet, but no one knows where the overall game is at or how it's doing so I'll welcome another 2-3 months to spruce everything else up.

Haze was also said to be the best looking console game. There was even a story on PS3Fanboy.com saying it even looked better than crysis sometimes! and look how that turned out.

Haze never looked more than good graphically in any trailer or footage, specially not anything like crysis. That's why I don't go to xbox fanboy or ps3 fanboy. I watched the pre-alpha footage on gametrailers and it already looks better graphically speaking than any other console game, even gears.
They've got 9 months to do nothing but improve on what they already have, which is a decent amount.

Actually, I've NEVER seen a PS3 fan say "wait until X game comes out" or "PS3 domination starts with Y game". I've only ever seen people make /reference/ to these claims, and these people have always been trolls (Fernando especially).

Correct me if I'm wrong but devs don't code directly onto PS3 and start on PC's first.
Now considering that the Killzone 2 videos are a lot more likely to be presented on Supercomputers(Something that could 60FPS Two Copies of 2048x1536 Full Detail Crysis simultaneously) than an actual PS3, I wouldn't get my hopes up.
But damn, it really looks awesome atm! Can't wait till the Crysis vs Killzone 2 comparison on PS3fanboy.com

Not in the way people claim it. I've seen people on all camps make lists of games they are looking forward to, but for some reason the anti-PS3 crowd keeps acting like PS3 owners are claiming the PS3 is going to take control when game X is released. You almost never see anyone say that outside of a couple of the biggest fanboys. It's usually just Fernando or idiots like Cyro making those claims.

They played it on a PS3 during the last E3 and they have demoed it to journalists on PS3s, so unless they are cramming a supercomputer into a PS3's case there's no reason to doubt the footage.

This doesn't sound right IMO. They shoulda gave us KZ2 first and used the Holidays to push it since its a new IP. Socom and R2 will have their following no matter when they bring those out. >:( We already got a Resistance game so why not bring a new IP out and THEN release a sequal that already has a fanbase and hype.

How is #2 in the franchise make it a new IP? And my thinking here is that they looked at all 3 games and decided that since Killzone 2 had the most room for extra polish to really make it shine. I mean if it were my game and it had been delayed so many times already, the last thing I would want is it going up against 2 other games in the same genre on the same system during the holiday season AND have it be missing that bit of extra pretty to make it worth the wait.

You're right that was a slip-up sorry =/ But I don't really count part one, even though I own it, bought it on release day and liked it actually. This game is going to be pretty new to most and its the first one on PS3 so thats why I guess I called it a new IP. Still, if "nothing is wrong with the game" then I think we should have gotten it b4 R2 or Socom.
