Midway shows off Superman in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

The official website for Midway's Unreal-powered, cross-dimensional brawler, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, has posted the first shot of what appears to be Superman's 3D model. As you can see, the developers have managed to capture the Kryptonian's chiseled features, indestructible physique and patriotic pose quite well. So well, in fact, that we're left feeling a little sorry for the mere mortal kombatants.

yeah! Why not put time and effort into something worth the time. Maybe a game based off the movie Fight Club. Yeah that'd be sweet. I can see it now. It'd be so intense. Nah that dumb. Let's have rappers and hip hop artist fight... on second thought why not have Ninjas Vs Pirates...

Actual. Most people thought the game looked pretty mehish from the beginning. Only reason why it got the attention it did was because more people were giving more attention to the developers(LOL GOLDENEYE!!) than to the actual game.

Actually, in the comics, one of Superman's main weaknesses now is Magic. I read an interview with Boon about how they will bring up this fact when trying to even everyone out. They also mentioned that whatever event causes the DC and MK universe to cross will have an effect on their abilities. So they will BS something to make sure Superman doesnt slaughter everyone without a scratch.

The real question is how can Superman beat Scorpion? He's already dead, what more can be done to him? Plus he can teleport.

Glad to see they went with the Alex Ross version of Superman. In my opinion, that's what he looks closest to.

His face is looking a bit lifeless though. I don't think this picture is doing it justice. I'd love to see some video of Supes in action. I'm real curious how they are going to handle the whole flying thing.

Scorpion looks awesome though! I think he looks better then Superman.

Makes me wish they just made a new Mortal Kombat instead of this franchise mash-up.

I find it funny that nobody would dare suggest that any of the Marvel or Capcom people are ridiculously overpowered if MVC3 were to suddenly be announced, yet MKVDC just gets "omg supes pwns all". It's called "suspension of disbelief", folks. Yeah, he COULD kill everyone and not bat an eyelash, but he won't. Get over it.

That said, DAMN does that render look good. If that's even close to in-game art, this might turn out to be halfway decent.

I'm guessing John Stewart. Mostly because he's probably the most well known of the Green Lanterns(in Mainstream I mean). Also so they can have a token black character.

I figured that too...

Though, as a side point, I realized the only mainstream(read: "somewhat known to the masses")Black characters in DC are GL-John Stewart, Cyborg, Static(DC-published), Vixen, and Mr. Terrific/Michael Holt. Sure, there's others... but if it wasn't for the animated JUSTICE LEAGUE and TEEN TITANS shows, I'd have to wonder if the everyday person would recognize any of them.

Anyway, in reference to the game -- of those listed above, Stewart is easily the most likely candidate to be put in the game.

ONE LAST TIME: Magic beats Superman. It's in the comics. It has been brought up be Ed Boon himself. Almost all MK characters use magic, except Jax. So I guess it's finally payback after Jax's ruination of MK2

Obviously he'll be depowered somehow. Either they'll just have a weaker version of Supes(like DCAU superman) or they'll incorporate something in the story that some magic managed to depower Superman. Though I'm wondering how they are going to depower flash.
