Sony announces Madden NFL 09 PSP bundle

Let's say for the sake of argument that you are a fan of American football, and in this purely hypothetical scenario you also like to get your gaming fix while on the go. If this is the case then Sony's latest PSP bundle is likely right up your alley, grouping together the portable version of EA's upcoming Madden NFL 09 with a North American-exclusive "metallic blue" PSP.

Shipping August 12 with an asking price of $199.99, the bundle will also pack in a documentary on UMD titled NFL: In Just One Play alongside a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo. In addition, the so-called Madden NFL 09 PSP Entertainment Pack will include a PSN voucher to download SCEE's London Studio's Beats rhythm game, an odd bedfellow for the latest sports offering, though we suppose after players tire of going long and letting virtual pigskins slip through their fingers they'll appreciate having something else to fall back on.

That's not a bad bundle at all. Though given the game, it's surprising they wouldn't put a 2GB card in; since season mode(or "franchise" as it's annoyingly deemed now)alone gobbles up a decent amount of save space on any console.

Odd bedfellow, eh? It only seems as strange as the GoW/Superbad pairing or Daxter with Family Guy, the latter being particularly odd to me because Daxter is kid-friendly and Family Guy... is not.

On another note, I enjoy the blue color but am not at all interested in the software. Pass.

agreed, I have Madden 07 and it is just not the best portable game, its hard for me to just pick up and play for a few minutes.

I give the blue PSP the thumbs down. I personally think it looks a little cheesy. I like the Red GOW PSP better

Good thing you can import colored face plates on the cheap via certain online shops...

Here is my personal plan.
Step 1: Buy this bundle.
Step 2: Sell black PSP slim and all bundle contents.
Step 3: Hopefully now have blue PSP on the cheap.

I'm so weak for blue gaming. The blue/black DS Lite was what finally managed to get me to upgrade from my old Phat, and now I must have this as well. I'm really glad that MGS4 Limited Edition PS3 wasn't blue or I'd get brought into that rape-fest. Not that a MGS4 PS3 being blue would make any sense, mind.

I didn't think of that, but it doesn't seem like that kind of bundle. I figured it was like the Daxter bundle in that it's just a PSP with no theme.

Yeah, it's seriously hideous. Goes hand-on-hand with the Coca-Cola red God of War bundle.

I wish Sony would just release the non-shitty colors they have in Japan over here. The audience that's actually interested in all of the products included in these bundles is practically non existent. I'd much rather choose my color then have to spend $200 and be stuck with a game I don't want just because I prefer the console in a color other than black.

Both are nice looking (and I love the color blue, which is why I imported an Enamel Navy DS Lite)...

But with the US blue PSP, I have a crappy game and UMD video I can sell to get some cash back... Plus, it is a bit cheaper to begin with...

Looks like I'll be buying this and Half.comming the game and UMD, I'll get to keep the memory stick and I may still have a good deal on my hands (and a pretty blue psp)
