its called a running joke...

No console FPS games before Halo??? WTF?
Timesplitters? UT? Quake(1-3)? Way too many bond games.. There were loads of FPS games on consoles before halo.. its just halo was the first to really nail FPS controls for a gamepad.

But you are right, your comments have made me realise that Halo didn't infact have a horrendously dull and repetitive single player campaign and was actually the best game ever! And anyone who puts any slightly derogatory references to it must be attacked!

"Keep going on about Mario Kart motherfu**kers it only strengthens my resolve." - shown at the end.

Apparently his opinion on reviewing Mario Kart hasn't changed. Awesome!

A novel idea might be to use Yahtzees own flash video thingy. It's annoying as hell seeing all these random video players. So rather than battle whatever player this is (isn't loading) I'm off to Fully Ramblotic or whatever its called. Tush.

I have never been big in the FPS genre so maybe that is why I found the review enjoyable. Also I don't look at Yahtzee as a reviewer but more as entertaining opinion or editorial, kinda like the Andy Rooney of Video games if you will. But I figure his next game to review would be Haze or something like that. I think that is biggest game out right now, not sure but I can't think of anything else.

not to take from this guy's "genius", but i'm starting to get tired of it... there's only so many cliche's in his rotation. he loves one game for this reason, and hates another for the exact same reason.

i know i'll be voted down to oblivion for this, but i don't really care ... this review wasn't funny at all.

also ... cheap shots at the US? he can't go much more or his audience (the US) will get tired of it. i mean seriously ... if only crumpet-suckers watched this shit, it wouldn't be worth a mention. yeah, its kinda funny, but after a while its called conditioning. think for yourself, don't drink his kool-aid.

p.s. no ill-regard meant to the brits, he just slams the u.s. so much that you'd think the UK was superior somehow. cough ... tonyblair...cough cough...america's puppet ... cough cough cough.

bring it.

Ah, you see you're forgetting that unlike Americans, we have a sense of humor and don't care.

Oh, and way to go proving American's aren't stupid champ!

You are just going to get downvoted just like me for stating the obvious - he keeps taking the exact same jabs.

Recipe for review for FPS:

1. Mention gray and brown color scheme
2. Take jab at Halo
3. Take shot at Americans
4. Swear

Done!

Not that you are wrong Colin, but the thing is to call him out on it is unfair when gamers are the same way. When he is crapping on something like Nintendo, and their fanboys and how he believes some of their games suck it is hilarity to many gamers/fanboys. When he is crapping on more popular franchises like Halo he comes off as tired to those same gamers.

I am not saying you personally are like this, colin I am not saying I have ever seen you say anything towards this. But other gamers eat it up, so in a way he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Your right Yahtzee will complain about one games stereotypical social sense like Uncharted, but the for GTA he will over look the same thing.

The thing is you have to take in account he has preferences like any human being. The fact that Yahtzee pretty much gives a review more than a number holds my interest more, but you do have a point. The thing is in his contradictions he seems to give reasons for his likes and dislikes, rather than most reviewers who say things like "We don't give sequels 10s" (Gamespot) then a new GTA iteration comes out and low and behold "10". It is that kind of BS that you never see Yahtzee do because he actually has the ability to explain him self with rational thought.

Look at him less as a critic and more as somebody being critical in gaming media and it will annoy you less.

truthfully, it doesn't bother me if he rips apart my favorite game. i'm not offended that easily, and after all, it is just a game. i just don't like the repeated cheap shots he makes at the US. i'm sorry but i don't respect or appreciate that from a guy who is ..... nobody. you can say that i (and all other Americans apparently) don't have a sense of humor, but that doesn't make it true. you say i shouldn't care, but i find apathy pretty disgusting. he can continue doing the same routine. it's fine by me, but don't expect me to blindly lap it up and praise his elitist ramblings.

why do you (and many other americans) have such a chip on your shoulder about criticism? Anytime anyone with a remotely british accent makes any kind of remotely critical comment about the US its "elitist"? Huh.

He makes jokes and criticises things.. thats what lots of people do. They do it cos it gets a reaction, not because they are in some way elitist. America makes whole movies about how british guys have bad teeth, but you don't see us complaining.. we go and watch the movie and enjoy it for what it is.

If you can't take the slightest (totally superficial and dumbass) joke about the US then I'd suggest that you look at yourself, as you obviously have a slightly warped view of patriotism.
(and if you have an inferiority complex to british people then I'd suggest that that is your issue too... )

we're kind of beating a dead horse here. i understand what you are saying, and agree to an extent. it is funny the first couple of times. you know like when you and your friends are cutting up and ribbing each other a little. but if everytime you saw one of your friends he teased you about the same thing, there would come a point where you've had enough, it isn't funny anymore. you start to think he means it. nowadays it seems like the cool thing to do to hate Americans. read that article.

Agree 100% with the Painkiller = the REAL DOOM 3 statement. I might have to refire the game up this weekend, which I own for a similar reason. Found Painkiller on sale dirt cheap then several months later I found the expansion on sale for 6 bucks. Wonder when that'll happen to that third one with the devil and what not...

...also Mario Kart review next week, CONFIRMED!

if are angry that yahtzee is losing his touch by jabing halo, then just stop watching it. i personally thought halo was a great game and i am tired of people taking the piss out of. although i think cod4 and orange box are better (orange box is THE BEST!!!)
