Phil Harrison talks Alone in the Dark, spotlight shines on game footage
The real highlight in the video is the impressive amount of gameplay footage shown, which gives us a much better idea of what the title will actually be like. We're not sure yet if Alone in the Dark will be "blow your mind" fantastic, but much like The Darkness last summer, it appears well suited in getting some attention from the consoles it'll launch on during a less-than-crowded release time. Don't fret PS3 owners, you should be way too busy with Solid Snake starting June 12 to care about little ol' Edward Carnby.

This game hasn't interested me at all up until now. Good to see this game is coming along nicely. Hope it doesn't dissappoint. Atari really needs it not to.
modified @ May 23rd 2008 2:29AM
The coolest part of that video was the way you see your inventory actually on your character's body. In other words, the rest of it looked quite boring.

This game is looking more and more attractive, like I've had one beer too many.
Kujel @ May 23rd 2008 3:24AM
AitD > MG:SS Flame all you want Sony bitches but it wont change the fact that MG has always sucked and always will suck. BTW way did anyone else notice how Phil pointed out players on the 360 version will really appreciate this game.

I did notice you keeping up your typical chode behavior...
Kujel @ May 23rd 2008 9:47AM
I noticed you carry the mark of the Sony Taint.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 23rd 2008 10:09AM
the Sony Taint?!? I'm sorry, I know I'll regret this but I really have to ask. Did you go to one of those alternative schools where anytime you said something smart, you were punished? Kind of like a Paslov's response sort of thing like teaching a dog food is bad by electrifying it's food dish...
Because this is the ONLY reasoning behind your achievement of being so incredibly, impossibly stupid.
xFenixKnightx @ May 23rd 2008 10:21AM
Hey, hey, HEY...settle down now children.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 23rd 2008 10:32AM
Don't tell me to settle down, you.. you.. you fenix you. You with your fancy rapid signing on and off of PSN trick that's covering up my kill count in Dynasty Warriors 6....
How can I know how awesome I'm playing Cao Cao as with your PSN logging in and out?!?
xFenixKnightx @ May 23rd 2008 10:45AM
Dude I'm still trying to fix that crap but I don't mean to do it :( I was playing some Tekken DR and COD4 last night with K1bomb. Hes pretty good with Asuka Kazama. He pretty much owned me whenever he used her and whenever he didn't I owned him with Paul Phoenix.
Man, and I hadn't played COD4 on PS3 in a while. I trip out on that controller seriously its too small and not good for fps's even though I still pwnd ;) Guess I'm used to 360's pad. Still lets get you in there next time.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 23rd 2008 11:18AM
Possibly... but I do suck in COD4. Just can't get into it. But last night I was into Ridge Racer until I remembered how hard of the game I was into it (final two events), so I decided to mindlessly child out with the mass annihilation of ethnic asians... as an ethnic asian who wants to save them all, by ruling them all...
That, and I finally unlocked infinite renbu on Cao Cao so he was becoming a god (in the level where two factions attack both bases along the river, I ended the stage with over 1200 kills....). Still disappoints me that the general characters tend to have weaker or more finessed combos than the grunts. But Sima Yi still remains my favorite anyway.
Kwipper @ May 23rd 2008 3:29AM
The only thing bad I gotta say about this game is that the melee combat animations look a little stiff. Other than that, I'm quite impressed.
Ihavepants @ May 23rd 2008 7:02AM
If you're talking about melee combat, it's because the characters arms are directly controled by your right thumbstick.
Mr French @ May 23rd 2008 4:02AM
yeah this game actually is starting to look pretty cool, i just hope all the cool bits can add up to one solid cohesive whole.
sean @ May 23rd 2008 4:19AM
this game looked borin until bout half way through the vid when they finally showed some fighting. was cool how the alcohol bottle broke on the zombie guy and actually leaked a trail of alcohol to light him on fire.
and @Kujel only part he said about 360 owners liking the game more was that they can use the DVD like setup to get to a certain point to get an achievement. should listen a lil better next time buddy
Brodie-san @ May 23rd 2008 11:03AM
"MG has sucked and will always suck".
Hmm, it's cool that you don't like the series and all but there's a few million other people out there that would disagree.
It's amazing how no matter WHAT the topic certain type of people still feel the need to bash other gamers' personal choice in console/games.
BIGGEN @ May 23rd 2008 5:55AM
well, i think i may try this one. i can put down some solid snake long enough to try some ed carnby. i mean that in a totally non-sexual, non-homo, gamer-only way.
ssuk @ May 23rd 2008 7:48AM
It's okay, we already know you don't get any action anyway.
BIGGEN (LIVE-PSN: BIGGEN1103) @ May 24th 2008 6:28AM
you're just trying to hide your love for me, i understand your hostility
Brian Fantana @ May 23rd 2008 7:52AM
Looks great. Silent Hill is going to to be really good to make me want that over this. And don't forget, Phil Harrison is pretty good at hyping shit. The PS3 has been a turd up until lately, still is kinda, and he hyped that thing to no end. I just hope the gameplay is as good as the games graphics and cinematic presentation. It least it's got the coolest inventory menus I've ever seen.
Wii60Warrior @ May 23rd 2008 8:22AM
Looks boring to be honest...
As much as I'd like Atari or Infogames (w/e they call themselves now) to suceed I just don't see it happening. At least not with this title.
Lol a sony exec is now at Atari...damn they've fallen.
Whiskey Jak @ May 23rd 2008 8:24AM
So...an horror game with vehicles, platforming, puzzles and combat that takes place in NYC? Doesn't look half-bad. And yeah, the fact that he looks down on his body to see his inventory is pretty cool. More games should do that.
Never played AitD before, but aren't these little monsters looking a lot like headcrabs? And there's almost a little POP feel when he walks along those walls. Anyways... I might give it a try when it comes out if I'm done with everything else (everything mainly being GTA IV and maybe NGII).
JerJer @ May 23rd 2008 8:33AM
augh another mediocre title with cliche "press this button to deactivate the electricity" or "move the desk away from the path!".
no hype will ever gain steam on this title and it will pass unnoticed after unanimous 5's from reviewers. pass.
Eternal @ May 23rd 2008 8:35AM
This game actually might be worth getting it looks good and im impressed hopefully there will be a demo to try. im looking forward to it.
holyice7 @ May 23rd 2008 8:50AM
Partway in I was thinking "Is this guy kicking Trappers?"
In lieu of an Eternal Darkness sequel, I will enjoy this game, it looks like.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 23rd 2008 9:18AM
I think I'll enjoy this a little better. But that's because the game won't shout PARGON at me 15,000 times a minute....
xFenixKnightx @ May 23rd 2008 10:03AM
"particularly on the 360 version"
;)
Even an Ex-Sony exec knows games are better on 360 because of achievements. The game looks great and I hope it sells well for ole Atari. Why is the PS3 version coming out so late? 360 got a timed exclusive without even paying for it lol!
Dale @ May 23rd 2008 10:20AM
Achievements don't make a game better, or more fun. They just encourage you to get your money's worth.
xFenixKnightx @ May 23rd 2008 10:28AM
*covers ears
I can't hear you! Lalalalala! Cheevos ftw! Lalalala :D
Cyro @ May 23rd 2008 10:50AM

I've never bothered playing with Crossover in the past, but how does it compare to VMWare Fusion? I believe Fusion is about to support Direct X 9 any day now as well.
