I don't know anything about Top Trumps, can anybody explain this phenomenon to me? I've lived in England 2 years and I still don't get it, lol

A card game.....

I'm suddenly less excited.

Still, being a massive Who nerd, I may still import it. Will wait to learn more about this Top Trumps thing first though.

@ jgoreham / The Ninth Doctor:

Top Trumps was a huge craze that swept the UK when I was a nipper in the '80s. Each Top Trumps game consisted of a pack of cards -- around 30 or 40 -- with a set theme (cars, for example). At the start of a game, the pack would be dealt to anything between 2 to 4 players.

Each card would feature (for the sake of this example) a certain car and some stats for said car/thing. When it came to your go, you'd read out one of the stats on your top card (presumably the strongest statistic), and if your opponent's top card had a lower number for that stat, you'd get his card. Winner is the first to have all cards. Easy.

A fair bit of luck is involved, but also knowing the cards well would help.

And that's Top Trumps.

You linked to my comment, lol; I'm honoured. Anyway, I tried the game and it was... disappointing. Not even David can make it better... there's too much Martha. And Scotland and Wales are happy again. And I STILL don't know why the rest of the UK isn't buying TWEWY!

And thanks for making it a picture of David and Donna. She's the best assistant so far. I'm gutted because it didn't show because of Eurovision.
