It's a good time to work at Nintendo, and not just because of the mushroom shaped pastries in the lounge or the regular attempts at Princess Peach cosplay. BusinessWeek has released what it calls the 'InfoTech 100,' essentially a listing of the world's hottest tech companies, and wouldn't you know it The House That Mario Built is sitting on a Goomba right near the top in 4th place behind only Amazon, Apple, and wireless communications firm Research in Motion.
According to BusinessWeek, the companies that made the cut had to conform to a number of stringent criteria, not the least of which was achieving an impressive $300 million in revenues. Interestingly, however, Nintendo wasn't he only gaming-minded company to make the list, with Microsoft nabbing the number 23 spot while Activision also made an appearance at number 42. Mamma mia!

All the better for Nintendo; that is the nature of the industry at present.
Hopefully a few new good ideas will spring from those wells of money they should have stocked up.

Research in Motion (or RIM) make those Blackberry devices that business people carry around to try to make themselves seem important. My friend started working there recently, they're currently hiring about 60 people per week.

I concur, Nintendo deserves this and more for all they did for the gaming industry over the last 2+ decades.

Yeah, starting with the creation of the best and most epic characters, that will last forever.

You gotta admit, though, the classics are getting tired. Not even Disney whore out Mickey Mouse as much as Nintendo with Mario.

As lons as Nintendo keeps making good games with their characters, fine with me.
So far, Nintendo has made good games with their characters (and a very epic one: Super Mario Galaxy)... the only sucky games with Mario was Mario Party and Mario and Sonic, but those games were made by Hudson and Sega.

I joke about it a lot but yea, the PS3s time isn't now. I can imagine in 2009 it'll have a much bigger impact, what with the steadily increasing sales and some games coming out for it.

They didn't make 300 million in revenue i guess, or soemthing like that, i thought they did make over 300 million in revenue. BTW the ps3 is losing money but is doing great, better than the 360 by far, its already caught up i europe, the wii is just dominating though. And wats up with fernando trying so hard to hate onthe ps3?

don't fool yourself brown. PS3's doing poorly. It is doing a lot better than it was a year ago and it is doing decent in europe. By the time the PS3's going to be making any money, we'll be moving on to other bigger better things and so will sony....and so will developers.
The PS3's (and 360's) selling point is high-tech-ness. That bright shiny coat has worn already to be honest thanks to microsoft jumping the gun a year early. If Ps3 games looked significantly better then maybe sony can push this console to 2011 or 12. but it doesn't...most of the time it looks worse. To be fair, let's just say the games look equal...99% of the time they pretty much do.
Now the Wii is selling for other reasons and they have the best chance of not "peaking" anytime soon. However, i don't see that happening either but for other reasons. The biggest reason is that Nintendo relies entirely on their franchises and they've already used almost of them. The next couple of years is going to put the wii and nintendo to the test creatively. If wii fit is any indication, consumers will reach a breaking point and reject the gimmicky nature of this console unless nintendo changes its tune. Wii-Polevault and Wii-Dance will get wii-tiring.

i really hate those stupid fanboy comments about wheter or not the ps3 is good, and as a owner of a ps3 and a wii, all i can say is that ps3 is an excellent experience, the wii is a more unique expirence but, the 360, i just find the pc better than it, so for me 360 sucks, since i get everything it gets on my ps3 or my pc (cod4, gears, gta4 which for me sux, lost planet, assasins creed, i mean everything)and most exclusive ps3 games, you wont find them anywhere else (mgs, ff, little big planet, etc)
y fernado no mames, deja de hacer comentarios pendejos, la verdad el play3 es una chingonada, te guste o no

PS3 does have good games.
It just does not have a greater library than 360.

Well those are PS3 exclusive im waiting on owning the Triforce of consoles is the only way to go this generation seriously. I know the big N only uses their same franchises and yeah that would be bad if they werent so damn good. I have all 3 systems because i have to, missing out on all the big exclusives for each console is not something i plan on :P
