The above Guitar Hero World Tour (the official GHIV title) video shows off the new drum set through testimonial from a few rockers – namely, Red Hot Chili Pepper's Chad Smith, Blink 182's Travis Barker and The Police's Stewart Copeland, all of whom are featured prominently (especially Copeland) on Rock Band and a pretty good sign they'll be on World Tour, too.
One interesting detail gleaned from the video is that the drum kit is sensitive to velocity, meaning it can register how hard or soft you hit the pads. We're not shown any gameplay footage so we're not 100% sure how that'll translate to the virtual drumming. All we know is that we can't tell our friends this detail. It's taken us months to teach them not to bang on the set loud enough to wake neighbors six miles away.

They are def ripping off Rock Band but its looking to be the superior product. Those drums are looking pretty damn good.

OK... I was going to boycott GH4 due to lack of Rock Band instrument support in GH*... but if they include Dammit in the game, like they do on the promotional videos, I'm totally in.

Having Travis Barker in this game is on par, if not worse than having Tom Morello in the last one.
When will they start putting talent ahead of popularity?

Morello is an amazing guitar player...
But yah, for me the ultimate GH boss would be Paco de Lucia, to beat him you have to grow extra fingers...

I've been wishing for some crazy flamenco music in Guitar Hero for a while now. Friday Night in San Francisco, anyone?

I might not like Blink182 a lot (Actually close to not at all) but Travis Baker is indeed one hell of a great drummer, versatile, precise and with impeccable timing.
Apparently if your band becomes popular you cease to have any talent? Strange that, you probably should check his stuff with the Aquabats.

the drums are cool but they are still too expensive just for a gimmick casual party music game for a gamer, but it seems a lot of people are willing to hand the cash.

This better mean "Dammit" is in Guitar Hero 4! No matter how much i love Rockband's drums i have to get this game when it comes out! I just hope there's another bloc party song, anything by matt tong on the drums would make my day.

I'm not sold on this yet. I own a LAN center and I absolutely love/hate Rock Band. I mean it's great for business, the game played so much it hardly leaves the tray, but I, like everyone else, have the same problem with the drums breaking. We only have 2 Xbox's but we own 5 drum sets so we can rotate them out while we RMA the broken ones. This is a great concept, no doubt, but all I see is more drum sets I'm going to have to replace. I can't NOT buy this game, say what you will, but customers WILL ask for it. I just hope that since Red Octane, being the better hardware company, makes a more solid product. I mean wouldn't it be cool if Harmonix and Red Octane got together to make a game?

If you are using them in a professional-ish application, why don't you take one set and mod the shit out of it with metal and reinforce it?
I broke mine and didn't want it to break again, so I put a backplate on the pads and made it overall far more sturdy.

Cymbals aren't new, Konami have done it before. But as for Velocity drums they sound cool, but unless it's integrated with the core gameplay it's useless. One of the dudes mentioned it being important in create-a-song, but I don't see any mention of it being in the actual note charts. If playing the drums means keeping an eye on 6 notes AND how hard you hit? Now that'll be something.

So there was guitar hero one.
Then two.
Then Encore.
Then 3.
Then Rock Band.
Then ehe aerosmith .. thing.
Now Guitar hero world tour.
I want to curse you for spending all that money on plastic toys, and then ask you to buy one real guitar. I... don't belong here anymore.

Why on earth would anyone want a wireless drum controller?
You gain nothing, but have to deal with the hassle of buying batteries or recharging. If the GH3 controller is any indicator, they´re gonna make you pump the thing with disposable batteries on a regular basis.
