Rumor: Street Fighter IV heading to PS3, Xbox 360, PC this winter
Since announcing Street Fighter IV, Capcom has given us a number of things to ponder about the upcoming sequel, from 3D graphics to giant thumbs, but one thing the company hasn't given us is a release date, not to mention where exactly we'll be able to play the game once it finally makes its way to retail. However this may be about to change, as according to French blog Jeuxvideo, Capcom recently made mention on a press site that the fighter is headed to the PS3, Xbox 360, and -- surprisingly -- the PC as well, with all three versions slated to hurricane kick retail shelves this winter.
Unfortunately, the site neglected to link to the press site in question, and Joystiq ninjas have since returned from Capcom's press tower with nothing to show for their trouble, leaving us to flag this particular morsel of information as a rumor, albeit one we'd very much like to come true.

PC version say what?
colin @ May 26th 2008 6:37PM
WOW!!! That is pretty awesome! I'm in the process of building a MAME cabinet (have been for some time now) and that is excellent news. I hope it doesn't need a crazy-ass video card to play. I've got a spare 6800GT lying around that i'm planning to put in my machine.
chez @ May 26th 2008 6:37PM
Put it on Steam and I'll buy it. So long as theres a big mofo tickbox saying "use 360 controller".
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 26th 2008 6:48PM
Street Fighter on a 360 controller... eww.
Also, as long as you can map buttons, you can map a controller.
mundox @ May 26th 2008 7:26PM
SF4 on steam... pls let the video game gods hear my plea!!
but playing a fighting game with the x360 controller? god forbid >_
DangerMouse @ May 26th 2008 7:51PM
There's always the X-Arcade controllers, too, if you're that serious about fighting games. I would also love to see all the SF games come to steam, with online support and such. And while they're at it, they should adopt their User interface, with the matchmaking capabilities and community stuff, too.
Chances are, they won't go that route, and end up doing some shoddy console port with crappy menus and limited options like they've been doing with their ports for the past 10 years. I stopped buying capcom games after RE, RE2 and SFA on the PC we're poopoo. Well, RE2 wasn't that bad, but the other two were. I hope i'm proven wrong.
As for the 360 controller, i can pull off moves better with a keyboard most of the time.
capt_carl @ May 26th 2008 10:35PM
Pfft, six-button Genesis controller > arcade stick. I will OWN bitches with that baby.
chez @ May 27th 2008 3:52AM
Thats why I modded mine to work properly. In its normal state the 360 dpad isn't so hot.
It's not quite as good as the Classic Controllers dpad but it'll do.
Co @ May 26th 2008 6:40PM
Hmm... the two home consoles with the worst D-Pads known to man. I think I still got welts from that PS1 d-pad on SF: Alpha.
Noshino @ May 26th 2008 8:13PM
....I actually prefer the dpad of the DualShock
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 26th 2008 9:07PM
*snicker*
Yeah, the Wii's remote is really built for fighters....
jorojoserojas @ May 27th 2008 12:29AM
I'll give you this; I think the D-pad, and ONLY the D-pad, on the Wii is best suited for fighters. However, the PS3 D-pad is a perfectly fine d-pad for fighters. I'll definitely be buying this for PS3.
Vcize @ May 27th 2008 10:55AM
Really? I love the d-pad on the PS3 for fighting games.
Captain_Hairy @ May 26th 2008 6:47PM
If the news of a PC version gets confirmed, I will spend three solid hours humping the air. Three hours. For seriously.
As it is just a rumour, I am in a quantum state of humping/not humping. I dare not look down for fear of collapsing the waveform and proving my wildest dreams a fantasy.
ApolloIV @ May 26th 2008 6:59PM
I'll join you in a totally non gay way though.

You can't last 3 hours.
SoulBlade @ May 26th 2008 6:51PM
Do want.
Wii60Warrior @ May 26th 2008 7:26PM
I won't buy it...
I really don't want to be negative but nothing about this game has made me excited for it. From the ridiculous way the characters look to the art style.
Maybe the storyline (if there is one) will change things but I doubt it.
Shagittarius @ May 26th 2008 7:46PM
lol, dude you made me lol.
Wii60Warrior @ May 26th 2008 8:04PM
In a good way or bad way?
Normally I wouldn't care but I'm curious as to your thoughts on the game as well.
For some reason I'm getting the feeling that everyone approves of the game and is all ecstatic for it...but ONLY because its SF IV. On the brand and history behind the series.
Other than Chun Li's massive thighs and inhuman hands plus Ryu's huge potruding wand...I see nothing spectacular or worth mentioning regarding the game.
Soul Calibur may have jumped the shark with the addition of Yoda and Darth Vader but at least we've see some nice footag4e regarding gameplay (which looks tight to me) as well as significantly improved graphics and what seems to be an epic story in the making.
Mr.ESC @ May 26th 2008 8:15PM
The only reason why I don't see myself buying this game is for the same reason why I dislike most fighting games. I’m not good at them, like GH in expert mode you need to press colorful buttons like an effing Chimpanzee to win and I like to know what the hell I’m doing which is a good way to lose in most fighting games. Also that most fighting games have this brilliant idea which consist of not including an effing move set so people will be forced to be buy the official guide, too bad people rather look on the internet.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 26th 2008 9:01PM
This game could go either way for me. While I love 2D fighters, I get the feeling this ISN'T Street Fighter IV but rather Street Fighter II 3D. Unlike SF spinoffs ad enhancements of the past, this doesn't look to majorly overhaul the fighting engine. In fact, considering several standard (non special attack) combos are working just as they did in II has me worried. I know this makes me a bit of a hypocrit considering I enjoy the KOF series but that series has been annual evolution forever whereas Street Fighters numbered offspring HAVE been drastic changes.
Mr. Esc, it's been a standard in fighting games to have a move list in the start menu since... well, Playstation.
doom saber @ May 27th 2008 3:23AM
BTW, Ryu's snake in the pants is actually part of his upper gi flap whereas the image made it like a "you know waht."
iag25 @ May 27th 2008 10:34AM
I really hope this game will be good, but similar to what ppl above me have said, just doesn’t suit my taste. Dunno why, I do hope it comes out on Wii though as the graphics don’t look that intense anyways.
Tekken 6 looks crazy though !
Shagittarius @ May 27th 2008 1:46PM
In a good way, you said it might depend on the story and I thought it was funny because all fighting games have the same story. =) I assumed you were joking, either way though it gave me a laugh.
Sophia, The Super Korean!!! @ May 26th 2008 7:27PM
Ugh. Do not want.
Ugliest game ever.
Damn Capcom!
WTF did you do to Street Fighter!?
Everytime i see this game it turns my stomach.
Extra Cheese @ May 26th 2008 8:40PM
I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks every screenshot I've seen of this game has been horrifically ugly.
Wii60Warrior @ May 26th 2008 10:20PM
Co-Signed...
I hate that this is actually going to be considered the 4th title in this legendary fighter...
Fatass of Sarcasmness @ May 27th 2008 7:01AM
So do I, fuck the gameplay that made the series famous, I'm not gonna buy it because I don't like some still screenshots of the graphical style.
...
NvM @ May 26th 2008 7:30PM
Yay!.
Hopefully this brings back Street Fighter to the mainstream.
Nice simple balanced gameplay w/o button mashin and ridiculous combos.
Mr.ESC @ May 26th 2008 8:10PM
I'm probably the only one who likes this art style.I think is good expect for Chun Li's manly hands and Cammy crotch muscles but I think the anime rules apply to this game as well.
"There are no women in anime just extremly girly men".
I'm looking at you Dan.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 26th 2008 9:03PM
I love the art style. Especially when you see it in motion. But I'm not the biggest fan of this being a 3D remake of SFII which is what it's shaping up as.
I was never a big fan of SFII. I jumped in at Alpha. Loved III. But never felt anything for SFII.
jafar @ May 26th 2008 8:53PM
no wii vesion? psh
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ May 26th 2008 9:06PM
You know the problem with getting the cheapest current gen game on the market is that it IS the cheapest current gen system on the market. aka, unable to do this shit. And besides, you own a Wii, take a look at the remote lately? "It's got a punch button... and a kick button... and a plug so I can add a REAL controller to it."
It would be foolish for Capcom to attempt a port which requires the classic controller.
BPM [MKWii: 2578 3585 8392] @ May 27th 2008 5:58AM
Capcom reps have gone on record saying they'd like to get this to as many platforms as possible. Including PS2 (because it's still alive and kicking), PSP (it holds its own pretty well), Wii, and DS (the latter two just print money).
Of course, none of those would be up to the same level of graphic detail as the AC/PC/360/PS3 version would be (the DS version would be what Street Fighter 64 would've been lolz), but you'd still be getting the core gameplay mechanics. And that's what counts, right?
Mr Khan @ May 27th 2008 9:13AM
I find it hard to see where this game is pushing the graphical envelope. The guys up there in the screenshot don't look like they're rendered much better than Captain Falcon was in Super Smash Bros Melee
And sure, they would have to build a Wiimote-only mode, but that doesn't mean anyone would have to use it. Never seen anyone who did for Brawl or Radiant Dawn
It's hard to say this without sounding like a Wii apologist, but seriously, look at the screenshot. Where's the beef?
xFenixKnightx @ May 26th 2008 10:23PM
Wow, what a surprise... not.
Cool, cant wait to get my hands on this. Getting on 360 baby! Fighting games making a slight come back this year, sweet! Tekken 6, Soul Calibur 4, SF4, MK vs DC and hopefully we get an update on DOA5 by the end of this year since NG2 will be outta the way already.
Just wish the KI3 rumors would be true :)
AZN Female White Mage @ May 26th 2008 10:28PM
Hey! Sir Fidlious Wong/Sheppy or Mr. Expert. Whatever you're name is.
They can always use the GC controller or use the Hori Fighting Stick Wii.
Noshino @ May 26th 2008 10:48PM
uh...so? you can use joysticks for any console...we were talking about the default controller...
Batzarro(A.K.A Rap-Rock Cameo) @ May 26th 2008 10:27PM
(Courage the cowardly dog voice)Oh, no! Too many fighting games in the span of a short months!
jafar @ May 26th 2008 11:06PM
classic controller can be considered default cause its only $15, and that controller works better then ps3 and xbox360 controllers for this game
Noshino @ May 26th 2008 11:26PM
the fact that it doesn't come with the original console and that you have to pay extra for it automatically makes it the NON default controller....
Besides, for a few bucks more, you can just get a fighting stick which is far more advance and would work much better than the classic controller for this game...
Guybrush Threepwood @ May 26th 2008 11:33PM
No arcade version wtf?
Noshino @ May 26th 2008 11:45PM
There have been some arcades in Japan that have had it for some time now, and according to 1Up, the arcade version is to be released in July (Japan)

SeriousKriss @ May 27th 2008 4:51AM
Well the PC version isn't actually that surprising, seeing as the Taito Type-X² is a PC (the specs are on Wikipedia if you're curious), so there would be very little porting work to do. Plus Capcom is part of the PCGA and has been porting their games to PC for a while now. Anyway this is great news, but I'm still not convinced about the game itself...
XDragon @ May 27th 2008 6:47AM
Awesome news!
I'm plesently surprised by the addition of a PC release! It would be nice if more companies started to release console games on the PC, my biggst request being Soul Calibur 4!
