Capcom confirms Street Fighter IV coming to PC, Xbox 360, PS3

The rumor is as true as Hadouken: Street Fighter IV is indeed coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and – surprisingly – the PC later this year. Capcom confirmed the news (via IGN), which was first reported over the weekend on French blog Jeuxvideo. We're hoping to hear more about the game at the upcoming Captivate08 event. In the meantime, check out our hands-on of the fighter from GDC 08.

I wish GTA4 had gone to the PC as well :(

It's suprising given that this is street fighter, but not technically suprising as it basically only requires a bit of extra coding to turn a 360 title into a PC version.

@ Haggard : the Taito X² is a PC (and an upgradable one at that : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taito_Type_X#Taito_Type_X2 ), so they will most probably port it from the arcade version, not the 360 version.

Well, first of all, I am not going to use proper typing, because i do not feel like typing really neat with commas and all that shit. Secondly, I am using my PlayStation 3 Computer Entertainment System to type this, and it is easier for me. Third, there has not been a fun Street Fighter since Street Fighter II, and yeah, niggas, do not hate on me for what I do.

Not only the art style is something unique, but also the fighting mechanics look amazing, the fact that there is no more parry will make everyone find other strategies to rely on...can't wait..!

I highly doubt that. By most accounts GRID has a lot of good things going for it and its a decent game. Plus add in the fact that unlike certain sony fanboys I have never hailed it as some sort of system seller or epic game. Nor have I ever had doubts about the game as you sony fanboys do about some of your "killer" games.

Still waiting on KOFXII news... It's sad that I'd buy something rivalling the GUILTY GEAR X-series over SF IV. I mean, I'll get *both* eventually, I'm in no rush or hype over SF IV anymore.

Here's hoping its gameplay is better than the visuals and those godawful new characters.

first off , this game will be awesome, as well as the 14 sequels and various story resets that will come as a result.'the wii is for kids, old people and significant others who cant grasp a video game for whatever reason.
they dont deserve sf 4.

You might have to sacrifice a bit of the background action, but just look at those characters. There's nothing there that Wii can't handle. Hell, there's nothing there that doesn't look significantly better than Brawl, which could handle twice as many simultaneous characters

Arcades are pretty much extinct.

The that isn't 50 miles from me is on base (and I'm no longer a military dependent). It has like 5 games and a claw machine. One is a DDR-esque game with diagonals, 3 old light gun games, one SCII with a worn out joystick. With gas being almost 4 dollars here, I can't really afford to drive out of my way to play a video game with people who will only make snide remarks about my gender.

So whats Capcom's release history on PC, in terms of their fighters?

Street Fighter (1988)
Street Fighter II (1992)
Super Street Fighter II (1994)
Super Street Fighter II Turbo (1994)
Street Fighter Alpha (1995)
X-Men Children of the Atom (1995)
Street Fighter Alpha 2 (1996)

They basically halted official releases of PC fighters after 1996, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of their other series had the same thing happen (like Megaman X).

That being said, all of the arcade versions of their fighters are now playable through emulation (including the newer 2D/3D ones), and Street Fighter 3 was released on Gametap recently (albeit without netplay).

Is there an audience on PC out there? Maybe. If they can bring good netplay, people would probably stick around to play it on PC for years. I think it would be a good idea to pack in a bunch of their other titles with netplay support as well, since PC-only-gamers haven't had a sniff of Street Fighter for over a decade.

Its kinda funny though, Capcom chose a horrible time to get out of making PC versions of games. All of the ports of crossover titles were non-existant to say the least. All of those games plus Street Fighter 3 would have been possible on the PC.

Really, the only decent fighters from Capcom to come out during the PSX era was Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Capcom vs. SNK.
